The Acura Integra has got to be one of the most fun project cars, and best fwd. We welcome in Seths new Integra with some basic maintenance. My right hand drive Integra gets a much needed body fitment correction. The sedan Integra gets much needed maintenance, but in an unusual place.. anyone else skate their jack? haha

not necessarily a strange place but definitely a strange reason, my dad was looking around for his wheel in a market basket parking lot after it fell off of his suburban while driving past, had to jack it up and put it back on also, when you were talking about panel fitment and panned to the 240, felt so weird seeing it intact that i had to go back and rewatch, i'm still in awe that the car drives again

Unless there's some hidden problem not found yet, I'd say Seth definitely got a good upgrade out of that trade. It sucks regardless, but I've had good success painting in the winter by keeping the paint and the part somewhere warm (in the house, heated garage, etc.) until you're ready to paint, then take everything outside.... slap a coat of paint on, and then bring everything back into the warmth while you wait for it to dry and do another coat. It's a pain, but you can get a decent rattle can paint job on metal parts that way. I don't recommend doing a lot of parts at once because of the paint fumes if bringing them in the house, but for a few small parts it's no biggie. I have a walk-out basement and usually just paint right out the back door. I'm also now spraying down all my engine bays with power steering fluid as a rust preventative. Thanks for the tip!

Good trick for alignments!! Very quick too. The way I do it is a bit more lengthy but very accurate (works best for 4 wheel alignment) : same concept as the string alignment but you use jack stands to hold the string straight and in place, measure off the frame rail to make staring parallel to car while maintaining a 1”ish gap from string to wheel, then use a tape measure on front side of wheel and back side. If you’re looking for a specific toe angle (with a little bit of trig), this will get you there.

Usually I watch Vice Grip Garage and all the other muscle car, pick-up vids or mightycarmods for their 'no money spared' but excellent JDM content. I have MX5s (which are probably not your bag), but I am definitely becoming more into the 'daily driver drift' stuff that is less gratuitous/glamorising like your channel. Some point when you get older you'll have all these great videos to look back on and I'm not jealous per se, but I wish I'd been able to record my teens and 20s in the way people are able to these days, like you guys! I blew an alternator on the side of the highway in one hour away from Calgary, Albert (Canada) on our way to Vancouver, british columbia in a 2002 mazda protoge. Luckily it was right in front of some old dudes farm who had a super big shop and a bunch of trash cars in the yard. He helped us push the car into his yard and we had a second car on our road trip so went to Calgary and got a hotel for the night. The next morning we were back at his shop with the alternator and as we pulled into the yard he was racing around in this trashed honda odyssey and ran it straight intothe ditch 😆 We couldn't believe our eyes but he was ok. Anyway, we replaced the alternator and had a couple beers with guy and went on our way. I will never forget that trip.

I've done more alignments than I can count but I've learned over the years that if you have good attention to detail you can eyeball an alignment just as good as most local shops and in alot of cases you can get it better, that said if you go to an alignment technician who actually knows what he's doing then you can get it dialed in perfect. one thing to remember when getting an alignment is green does not mean good, green means just in spec and specs can be very vague and even wrong on some cars. you can have an alignment all in green and be completely wacked out chewing your tires off or even driving in a manner that is unwanted or even unsafe. but anyways I do eyeball alignments on all my vehicles and have done it for friends and family. I like to set my front toe quick with a tapemeasure first, match distance on the front edges of the front tires to the rear edges of the front tires, or if it makes more sense measure from the inside edge of the front tires side to side forward and behind the axle center line, same procedure 2 ways of explaining. that gets it ballpark then if I have enough clearance to see from the front tires to the rear tires I will adjust based on what I see from the leading and trailing edges, hard to explain. then lastly I'll do a speed test. if a car is toed in or positive then at 65- 80mph the steering will feel too responsive or twitchy and this is a very fine measurement at this point, a very small adjustment makes a big difference at high speeds. if the front is toed out then the wheel feels vague and can have a dead center feel where you turn the wheel but doesn't do much until it moves a certain distance, the opposite of twitchy, note you get the same feel with loose parts. rear toe when toed out or negative makes a car feel loose and unstable, basically makes a tendency to want to slide or drift the rear wheels but in an out of control way like the wind is blowing you back and forth if that makes sense. positive rear toe or toe in makes a car feel stable planted and predictable. camber can be eyeballed and also adjusted based on feel as well but toe needs to be set after or always the last adjustment. negative camber which is the top of the tire tipped in towards the body makes the car more grippy in the corners but has a nasty side effect of chewing the inside edges of the tires off and depending on how stiff or compliant your bushings and tires are makes a difference how much camber you can get away with and or how much is required for maximum grip. low profile tires have less flex meaning you get away with less camber before the tire wear becomes excessive also camber affects acceleration/stopping straight line grip, too much camber positive or negative causes less traction accelerating or stopping, 0 camber or the tire perfectly straight up and down = maximum straightline grip so it makes sense to have less camber on the front axle if front wheel drive or less camber on rear if rear wheel drive. positive camber is bad all the way around with only 1 benefit on the front of a vehicle, since it promotes the loss of traction you can use positive camber on tall narrow top heavy vehicles to cause the Porsche under steer keeping a vehicle from tipping over, but understeer has it's own risks. under steer is when you go to turn into a corner the front tires slide instead of gripping and it's scary but on a top heavy vehicle it can keep the vehicle from tipping over and is the only advantage. now all of these settings have their own effects but balance must be attained between all of them to get the desired effects, for example negative camber and negative toe chew the inside edges of tires, positive camber and positive toe chew outside edges so if you do a negative camber with the right balance of positive toe you can reduce tire wear and get the best effects for drivability. it's all a balancing act and there's way more to it but I'm done with this rant so just ask if you want to know more.

It usually takes two people but the way I align my car is with a couple a piece of angle iron with feet on them and run them right against the wheel and use a tape measure on each the front and back of the wheel so you just go off of what the numbers are, same thing though flat ground the ole roll back and forth every adjustment

The "correct" way for bleeding power steering is that you fill up the system. Get the car started turn the wheel one way till it bottoms, hold it and turn the engine off. Hold it forna few sec, start it turn it the other way turn it off and hold it. Repeat this till its good. You can get away with just starting and turning on a few cars. But this is the way! Oh and on hard lines like brake or power steering if im changing the line i always cut them so i can get a socket on it that way there is almost zero chance rounding it off.
