Very clear and interesting video! These kinds of blinds are so expensive to buy. What a great cost-saving alternative that is also fun to do. Glad that Rockler helps us through the process.

The preset drill bits, in my kit, needed to be reset to accommodate for the depth of the drilling jig. Also, the instructions didn't include information on the hidden arm option. Other than those problems the build is going well so far.

The proper way to to do the rails and stiles would be the same as a raised panel door.

and have a dado going up the side of the stiles where the louvers need to go? Doesn't make sense.

Interesting comment. Are you saying that cost of the equipment investment plus materials is not economic for one shutter? Or that that the material costs (even after you're given the tools as a gift) just don't make it worth it? Because in my area these nice blinds are about $1000 per normal medium window.
