I'm not sure why almost everyone in to rc crawling heads in the comp direction. I too got sucked into the comp idea and built a class 1 and 2, and I've never even been to a competition! I definitely regret that because I find I'm more into scale looks than pulling the hardest line. That being said I think your builds are freakin epic!
Agreed. I have 6 trucks now. I built 1 comp crawler just do have a high performance vehicle. The rest are more focused on scale and looks. Taking hard lines can be fun, but I wouldn't do the hobby just for that one purpose.
You do amazing work man.! I don't know who's saying what you are doing isn't going to work or it's not the right way to do it. In most cases it's those who don't know how to weld or actually build things. I don't know what you do for a living but from your equipment I assume you are in the automotive service industry like I am. People like us who actually fix things for a living get the most crap from people who don't know how to use a screwdriver. I'm fortunate that you took the time to show me how you build your own RC car. I'm thankful you took the time to make this video. I admire your work and I hope you continue to make videos like this in the future.
I like that he takes the time to tell his critics he doesn't care what they think. This hobby has to many people that think their way is the right way and only way. They are toy cars. He can build whatever, however he wants to. And to be able to say he built it, is way more pridefull than saying he bought it. Keep doing what you're doing bud.
Dude, you're badass. Thanks for inspiring the rest of us "poor folks" that can't afford big brand RTRs and parts. So far the only "affordable" RTR companies I've seen are Element and Redcat. I'm definitely more of a scale/trail rig guy so it's way more fun to me to use scraps and others takeoffs to create my own rig, right now I need a transmission, driveshafts, and body to complete my first 1/10 build. Thanks for your inspiration to buy a welder 😂 Keep doing you, I'll keep watching.
I love your builds and it got me back into crawlers, I think I’m gonna start building my crawlers like this there’s so much more you can do when you build it from scratch
Got me looking at planetary cheap transmissions for my builds. I need reliability metal fab rigs. Like the other comments got sucked into the comp stuff not for me. Glad you got this channel going!
great build man! couldnt have said it better, all that matters is that you get out there and hit the trails! build it as you want! thats what the hobby is all about!
You know i do appreciate your builds and your channel I think they are great and i compete, its just cool seeing something so different in the hobby and so custom its like your making your own sema builds
This guy is just like me when i mess up i always have a BIG audience. As long as people are laughing and having a good time that is all that matters..Oh and u learn by your mistakes lol.keep up the awesome work.
Love it... I came back to my wraith after years, all it needed was a new battery but I wanted more. It's been weeks of modding and fabing, a bed, rear bumper, electric tray, clodbuste modded body to fit around the cage, blah blah, over 100 hrs in lol, still not don't, I don't have a welder so lots of aluminum sanding, grinding, trimming, it's a pain but so much fun... Love what u do, u got my sub ...
See, me and my buddies compete with each other on this style right here. Build your own rig. Show how creative you can be and still make it perform. Anybody can just buy parts and play legos... keep doing you! Love the content. Lookin forward to seeing more to come
There will always be someone who criticises what someone has or does, looks like to me they perform pretty dang good ,I'm very happy to have found your channel, I love to watch your videos , very informative , please keep up the good work , can't wait to see what's coming next
Thank you Waffles RC, for inspiring me to not care what anybody else thinks about "my build". I'm Po' Folk too. I'm retired and live on a fixed income. I have been buying cheap RTRs and used parts cars. I use my own imagination, and a little, well a lot, of help from RU-vidrs like you, to build them up and make them my own. My hardest project was an old style Traxxas Revo 3.3 nitro I converted to electric. I made my own aluminum mounts and trays for all of the electronics. I mixed and matched many different brand parts. I must say, I am impressed with my first build. You're absolutely correct. It feels really good to make something from scratch. Even though I had an aluminum chassis to start with. I have been thinking about building a scale crawler completely from scratch. I will try doing what you did, except I don't have a welder. I will have to figure out another way of attaching things together. Probably drilling holes and using nuts and bolts like I have been. Again, thanks for the inspiration. I love how your builds are like tanks. Very durable.
I just subbed the other day. I have a "comp" build that I don't comp with except for a close buddy of mine lol. I really enjoy your approach to RC's!!!
Brother you do an epic job ! I love your way of thinking! I am also into comp and scale ,, love all sides of this great hobby! All that mater is we are having fun with what you have! This is great example what the customers ide this hobby is all about! ❤❤❤
Don't worry about idiots.. You make a superb crawler (trail). I don't like competition, I ride for my own pleasure in the forest. I prefer a "nice" cool scale to drive rather than a thing that climbs onto the roof of the evrest without difficulty. Man I subscribe, I like the way you do things. The Frenchi. Hoo: I am a real Frenchman who lives in France!!
Nice build I have recently decided to build my own chassis I am going to use box section like but I am going to cut it down the middle with a band saw after welding it up to make two c section rails
Thank you Waffles RC! Awesome you make your own rc crawlers. May I add, filming and editing an entertaining video is not easy at all, so well done Sir, really enjoyed the humour, and the action shots. Lastly for now, a great message you have Sir. Reminds me of the building approach taken by the motorcycle fabricators of lnspltblvd here on RU-vid. Much looking forward to more from Waffles RC, scratch built at home, rc crawlers with impressive flex! Thank you, 'precision everything', nice one, added like 115 from overseas ✌😊
Im not gonna lie I’m about to be 29 and I literally just got my first semi hobby grade RC off of Amazon and I’ve watched a lot the RC content creators on RU-vid like Kevin Talbot and RC Sparks but they all have endless money but you give me hope that a blue collar guy can build and get into RC thank you and keep up the good work
Thank you very much!!... That is my goal with this channel is to make it unique but affordable. I watch them as well and basically see their expensive stuff and see if I can make it myself.
Great work! I just finished a rock bouncer and used all used parts. Stuff I bought cheap on eBay. I have boxes and boxes of parts. I love your builds. Keep up the good work. Subbed!
You don't have to justify building something you like to build/play with! I would like to say Thank You very much for sharing your craft and art with us all! It's amazing that you have the creativity to think of something and actually use the trades to make/build it! It is amazing what you are doing and please continue to share and it's amazing to see this IMO. I just tried the Dawn Dish soap method for painting my RC10 B6.4 and it turned out Amazing!!!!!! you should consider it for a future body!
You wash and clean and dry the body like normal, put the window masks on the inside. Then you squeeze dish soap onto it while moving back and forth quickly to get some lined patterns, you then spray the inside over the dish soap with the darker color in your paint scheme, then you let it sit a couple mins. then wash the dish soap out and let the body dry again. The darker paint will not stick where the dish soap was. Then you spray your lighter color and it gives a cool affect. After that coat drys, back with White :) @@WafflesRC-pb4nt
The fit and finish on this is much better than any of the trucks off the shelf with adjustable pieces because with your rigs you fit it how you like it and it turns out so much better keep it up man
I like how you build I watch a lot of RC builds and you show pretty good detail on how to do your builds I like you'rs the best so far part of people that say your bills ain't going to work they just don't know what they're doing that's you seem to know your stop pretty well and I also like spectrum but I got a bunch of different name brands of stuff
I like your advice... Bottom line is just enjoy your self what you are doin. ..building from scratch rc or even buy expensive or cheaper rc that you can modify.still. you are the one will decide not others.
Also are there any long gear axles you can think of. Also what cheap transmission should I go with that will have some long gears as well. Loving the builds and I've already watched like 6 or 7 different videos of yours.
So for my mud truck, I just put a 3 gear transmission in it with only the rear output going to the transfer case. To get more speed out of it, I changed the pinion gear and spur gear. Bigger pinion and smaller spur got me more wheel speed. And thank you very much for watching. I'm really glad you like it!!
@@WafflesRC-pb4ntthanks for the info! I've also been looking at some axles with a dig function for a sorta "transbrake" feel like my blazer has at a full scale. And your welcome. Subs are going up since I seen this video also. Getting closer and closer to 1k!
The gatekeepers just can't help themselves, some will still chime in to say you're "doing it wrong" even though you went so far out of your way to explain your reasoning. Big tire high-CG trucks are cool, I especially like the CEN-bodied one you have.
Thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort to make these videos. This Build video series has been amazing.! Highly educational and inspiring! Your channel is my new favorite RC channel!
I find a lot of people in this hobby sadly are way to stuck on comp building style intend to think anyone doing anything different or wrong all I do is build trail trucks everything I have 1/10 are all hardbody leaf spring trucks I find them way then some lcg truck that can climb over the hardest lines if a build makes you that is all matters I feel like people get way too hung up on brands and forget they are toy trucks
coming from a racing background in rc, rules are dumb. theres so meany to me it takes the fun out of it. always worried about if your legal or not, and pushing the line ha ha ha. looks like it does better then a lot of comp rigs. i do have a couple comp rigs, but thats for when i feel like just being on the rocks, and not trail running. the only resin there comp style is I liked the chasses. great video's, and F the norm, kinda sad they can't think out side the box
Hey bro, awesome channel love what you’re doing but you really should not worry about all the haters in the comments you’re going to have those people most of the time they’re just jealous because they can’t do what you do just keep building your Trucks and showing people what you want to show them, and not worry about all the haters You got something pretty awesome going here bro keep at it
Hey there my friend I just want to let you know I've met you and your wife before at the RC expo in Pomona I didn't know you had a RU-vid channel that is really cool
I like your builds but I don’t have a crawler yet but I have a few arrma’s a couple of ecx a traxxas and I want to make something different I don’t know what but I’m going to do it like you thanks in advance
Thank you very much!! I get them from all over. Amazon, Amain Hobby, ebay. Anywhere that has the body I am looking for that doesn't cosat an arm and a leg honestly
This is Jerry I saw your frame building and that was cool, are you making it water tight to go threw water ,,how about mountain climbing,I have an old style toyota rc truck that i want to build up,and i want some pointers,
You can make it water tight for sure. I left this one open to try to get it to sink a bit better. For mountain climbing, mine have a lot of travel with long coil overs so they do unload a bit going uphill. But if you run shorter coil overs it will do really good depending on tires
Have you ever had any problem with the 2300kv just cutting all power after you full throttle it? Jw.. its was im experiencing right now and Spektrum Customer Service people arent really that much help, and because i bought it second hand they wont even take a look at it. First time with a Spektrum and it worked great at the beginning, but now kinda having this problem so.. any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED !! Also dude.. i wish i could weld like you.. or well weld in general. Amazing build! Keep it up!
I'm in the process of building a building on the one I'm building is based on my real life truck that I drive has broken down at the moment but I'm trying to build a frame based on my truck and right now I'm trying to build some A-Arms the front a arms I kind of need some help designing them
