Building Rocket Legs (How Tenya's Gross Leg Holes/Quirk Works) | My Hero Academia Month!!! 

Just a theory but Iida's legs are most likely way heavier than a normal person's legs which would explain why he doesnt always have his legs taken out from under him when he activates his engines. On top of that it seems feasible that he can turn his engines on and off at will with precise timing while he's running so he doesnt scorch himself with the exhaust although i assume his hero costume is designed to shield him from such burns anyway.

What if...Tenya’s centre of gravity IS in his calves? Or at least closer to them. Maybe the engines in his feet weigh so much that it shifts his gravitational centre, and that’s why he doesn’t always spin in circles

I know this is just for a month but I think it is also possible to recreate the powers of: -yuga aoyama (a bunch of lazers on a belt) -Mina ashido (wrist mounted acid shooter) -tsuyu asui (boots with hydraulic cylinders) -Denki kaminari (tazer glove) -kyoka jiro (leg mounted sonic amplifier) -Mineta (plastic ball with strong adhesive... this would be trashy but at least funny)

Really enjoying this series, specifically how you go into science but not so much that it alienates the average viewer. Also I like the little run you did with rockets shooting out your damn legs.

You should go into the Support Course at U.a. I'm sure every hero being able to do this would be helpful. But kinda make him useless.

The thing is that when he run, they alternate in the manga. They don't push when he's swinging his leg back, they are only when he swing his leg foward

You overlooked the fact that Ida was only in third gear in the 50 meter dash so the real question is how many gears of speed does he have?

i thought Iida's quirk was more of an acceleration created by the powerful force generated from his calve engines into his piston-like ankles, and that he modified his quirk prowess by using his calve exhausts as rocket boosts to his kicks and midair maneuverability. It's present when he is testing his base speed level during the physical exams, not letting his exhausts simply carry his body weight, but using weight transfers and timed pops under his large steps to propel himself, kinda like a flash step (actually exactly like a flash step).

Tenya doesn't EVER fold his legs. That's how he does it... He runs with his legs forwards, and you with your legs behind your body.

Have you ever considered that Iida might lean in just a bit while running to prevent the rocket from scorching him? I mean I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure having a lower stance while running reduces air resistance and conserves stamina which would allow people to be just a bit faster for a longer amount of time

I'm a high-school student revisiting this, but I have a small theory, speed in running is determined how quick you touch the ground plus how hard you push off, if there was a way to have rockets that were aiming downward to allow your legs to reach the ground quicker, it may allow you to run faster, I find the quirk cool, but also I have 0 clue if that would work any better.

You deserve a million subs! You could really injure yourself from doing this but you do so good!

I also Imagine that they could justify it with the engines somehow enhancing his muscles. Perhaps they help oxygenate his muscles or something?

I see illdas quirk as not making his legs movie faster but making his stride longer and more powerful that would fill in some of the plot wholes with his quirk

It's actually quite easy to see how he boosts himself, if you see the 50mt dash sequence, you can see plums of vapour when he lifts his leg, so I'm guessing he just boosts himself when his leg is on the air, basically making a long jump instead of a normal stride, would that make more sense?

Considering it's a biological quirk in the anime, I'm sure he's not using a constant thrust of his engines but more like making small explosions of energy when his calves are upright

My theories: 1. instead of having the engines on constantly he is only using small impulses to geet aditional momentum. 2. instead of ejecting rocked exhaust to propell him forward there are some kinds of gyroskopes inside his legs that are powered by the engine, which enable him to move his legs faster than normal. Only when turning up the power the exhaust creates enough thrust to push him forward.

Because of the fact that his quirk allows him to accelerate even when he isn't on the ground, he technically wouldn't have as low of a speed cap, though he would need some really nice shoes to slow down and turn.

If you research how a runner moves and made the angle of the rockets complementary to a shifted center of mass (since runners tend to lean forward) it could theoretically work better (unless you did in which case sorry), it would most likely be pointing much closer to your feet however, another issue would be finding the amount of force needed in order to counteract most of the weight placed on a runner by gravity.

Man this guy should've really become a mythbuster he deserves it

With Tenya's quirk if it functioned liken engine upon each stride the engine will give thrust midstride before the fore foot makes contact and the hind foot. This would happen when ever he would run. Of course for him naturally it would be a conscious effort between each stride. And the speed he would have to time it would be Nano seconds and would have to be second nature. That is unless his body does it naturally when his feet make contact with the ground, thereby acting as a part of the pistons his legs would have.

Ik I'm super late to this video, but I just realized that using the circuitry from games like mindflex, which measure brainwaves to measure how focused you are, and then power a circuit when you are focused enough, you could make this mind controlled.

Uses a lipo battery to trigger a system that ejects heat, also looks like he's using alligator clips with tape shielding for his button. If the heat reaches the battery, or the alligator clips touch for too long that battery will explode.

Here's my theory. I think Iida has the innate ability to rapidly toggle the propulsion on and off, so he doesn't burn himself. Something that would be hard to replicate with a continuous reaction like the model rocket engines are producing.

I think Iida runs in such a way that he only activates/has trained to activate his boosters when they are pointing away from him, so I guess the boosters facing his butt wouldn't have been much of a problem for the guy hahaha

you can see in the slow motion it is actually moving him bit by bit when each second goes past
