I have been putting this job off for a while now... Firstly because I wasn't sure how to build it, but mainly because I didn't want the distraction of a comfortable tea drinking sofa to stop me from working. This was a challenging part of the build so I hope you will find this video useful if you're looking to build something similar.

I find it easier to put the same radius on the plywood instead of chopping the corners , top work regardless .

I thought I had my plan down on what to do about my sleeping area in the front of my RV until I saw your video!! I like your idea so much and it would provide more storage room since I’ve got to change up the area anyhow. Thank you so much for posting this video. Very good explanations of what you were doing!!

Fab stuff ! Maybe install some cupboard ( and underbed) slimline air vents ?(a) for satisfying the diesel warm air intake (b) to reduce any mould forming in cupbards. Most of our caravan cabinetry (even around the mattress contact points with the walls) has small air spaces to achieve this ! Thought about ducting (via a TEE) the warm heated air into your "wetroom" and behind the bed by the draughty rear doors ? I hope your channel gets the growth it deserves. You only get out what you put in !

Also, if you find that the diesel heater fuel pump becomes too noisy, as in the knocking sound reverberating too much thru your van , especially at night, try suspending it with a cable tie or two so that it doesn't make contact with anything. Makes a big difference in a night's sleep. 👍
@TurnersWorkshop97
@TurnersWorkshop97 Год назад
Thanks for the recommendation, I may have to try this if it’s too loud 👍🏼
@phillipnassen4925
@phillipnassen4925 Год назад
Nice build. Remember to have the diesel heater pump in 45° to prevent air-bubbles from getting stuck inside the pump och causing friction due to lack of lubricant from the diesel.

Really excellent work it looks great, I've just been doing a bit of repair/maintenance to the slide out bed in my Autosleeper MH same principle design as yours but lighter materials so not as sturdy, an arm to hold it up when your putting stuff under it is must and a small led light very useful, keep up the good work👍

Beautiful bed design and so well explained, I'm upgrading mine atm, could I please ask, how do the slide out slats stop, I noticed you don't have a slider underneath the slats that slide out, if I did that they'll slide out fully and no longer be part of the bed, I can't see what you used to stop them, very cool design and extremely well made and explained

Hi Olly fantastic video as usual great idea for the bed. The van is really taking shape now bet you can't wait to get away.. Thanks for the demo and talk on the laser cutter.. Would you be interested in selling me one of the transit logo plates? Lindsay
@TurnersWorkshop97
@TurnersWorkshop97 Год назад
Thanks Lindsay, I cannot wait to get away now! Not much left to do now so won’t be long 😆 Unfortunately I can’t make the control panels to sell due to the copyright of the Ford logo and I don’t have much spare time at the moment. I will let you know if I make a similar unbranded version 😊

Hi! Thanks a lot for this video! We’re building your design in our van and from your video it seems like the two hinges are the only thing supporting the back of the sofa slats. Is this correct? I’m worried that won’t support the weight of multiple people! Have you had any issues? Thank you!
@TurnersWorkshop97
@TurnersWorkshop97 Месяц назад
Hi, no problem glad you like the video 😊 it’s been a while since I built this but never had any issues with the strength. Just use good quality hinges and it will be strong enough :)

Hi, Mark here from Australia 🇦🇺 . I have a 1996 Ford Transit 2.5L turbo diesel motorhome and have been following your videos and I'm wondering if you have heard about adding 2 stroke (low ash mineral) oil at the ratio of 250 ml to 60 ltrs of diesel to the tank ? Apparently it gives better fuel economy as it lubricates the upper half of the motor. What fuel tank additive would you recommend or use. Diesel isn't cheap in 🇦🇺 either considering it's a by product of making petrol. 😭 Thanks for your videos. 👍👌
@TurnersWorkshop97
@TurnersWorkshop97 Год назад
I have heard that mineral 2stroke oil is good for the mechanical fuel pump as it helps lubricate it and makes the engine run smoother/ quieter. Modern diesel is full of additives and doesn’t have the lubricating properties it used to. I use Redex every now and then to give the fuel system a clean but I can’t really notice much difference if I’m honest. It’s a complete rip off here too! That’s for sure. Thanks for watching 😊

The battern on the back, to lift up the top of the bed, what is that part exactly? Where can I buy it?? Like I understand everything but I would like to know which parts you use… please
@TurnersWorkshop97
@TurnersWorkshop97 Год назад
Hi, the batten across the back was from some scrap wood I had laying around. The front frame and slats are from an old futon and the end panel is 8mm plywood. Perhaps you could use a 3x2 from your local timber merchant instead for the batten on the back.
