People this man knows his stuff he is truthful and sincere when speaking to you guys about what and who too listen too There are lots of Johnny come lately trying too cash in on your lack of knowledge so buyer beware

One reason John knows his stuff is because he doesn’t just depend on what people tell him about his products. He actually does the research and analysis of his data to determine what products are suitable to attain a specific goal. He uses trained agronomists to help with his research. John believes in what he teaches us on this channel and it’s pretty apparent in his presentations. I just wish western Wisconsin had a closer dealer so we could reduce some of the shipping fees. Thanks John for another interesting video.

Holy crap you can hear the passion John!! I have kinda the exact scenario where I cleared a jack pine white pine food plot. I did purchase your soil building blend for this year, I'm in Crivitz and have been collecting soil samples this weekend. I'll be sending them to Harper growing solutions on Monday or Tuesday. So I will be tracking my progress and all of the work will be documented on my channel. Love the growth you are having and keep that pedal to the floor! BTW them old timers know their stuff!

The deer hit soil builder's buckwheat hard, but not too much evidence that anything else was hit (not say'n they weren't- I didn't see it). That said, I disked it under before planting my fall crop, as recommended. If I use the soil builder again, I will spray it with Gly before hitting it with the disk as the sorghum came back with a vengeance! So much so that it grew to 4-5' and shielded most everything else I planted for the fall. The sorghum did winter kill and provided a nice organic matter come spring, but my winter crop suffered as a result of the resurgence in sorghum.

To anyone who will listen. I paid 2800 and wasted 300 lbs of buckwheat. RU-vid genius told me to. John told me spring summer seed rye on new fields. Best food plot advice ever.

I tried a split 1/4 acre last season. Brassica and greens blend. Both are still green. I tried overseeding rye (without killing or tilling), just tried seed to soil contact. Nothing grew. I did have some popping up in my pickup truck rug bed!

Thinking of using a half rate and adding sorghu and millet. Only because I have a great catch of red clover and white coming in with last falls rye. Trying to get a grain source for deer. Was going to try to roll the rye over the seed.

I have good OM over 7% . But lots of deer pressure . Used this builder last year and liked it . This year my clover is coming in strong. Should I kill back clover to go to this again ?? 🤔to make room for fall crops of grains and greens?? Or ride clover thru the summer? … ps the deer ate my Vetch and Sorgum last year . So I had no problems with your sorgum, lol 👍🏼👍🏼
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 3 месяца назад
Ride the clover and build N. Deer may hit vetch if all other food is scarce. But very low on the food attraction chain from what I see.

Do you recommend spraying before putting down your soil builder seed blend? I’m in West Michigan. Plots were half rye half brassica last fall. Thanks!

Great video. I have been looking at your spring soil builder. I'm in NW MI with beach sand soil. Is this blend frost hardy? How drought tolerant? Like most areas in nw MI, it has been dry. My area of elk rapids was particularly dry. It does look like good rain in the forecast moving forward, though.

John, what do you do with the stubble on your milo planting in preparation for the next planting cycle?
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 3 месяца назад
2 brush hog passes to chop it up fine. One light disc pass at spring planting just to loosen on the top so we can drill with an old grain drill. Keep in mind 1/3 the biomass left over than corn too.
@ericfettig8020
@ericfettig8020 3 месяца назад
What do you do with all the left over stalks if you have no way of tilling it in? Trying to do no till after spring planting with all waste doesn't seem impossible.
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 3 месяца назад
2 passes with. Brush hog and a light disc right before spring planting. We are cutting back the sorghum seed rate by 1/2 this spring. Wider rows and less seeds per acre. But the experiment worked great

Roll and plant bigger seeds into it for fall. Spring may just be an annual clover and oats and rotate back to soil builder following year.
