English subtitles are available. This is a complete build from start to finish of Tamiya's Kubelwagen in 1/35 scale. In addition, I will add this to a diorama called "Jewish Persecution." Enjoy.
Greetings from Australia QDC. Thanks for the vid. I think you've approached a very delicate subject with due respect and I hope your important educational lesson is heard in the honest and respectful manner in which you approached this historical subject; as well as getting appreciation for your fine model. Thanks.
One thing i love about your content is that you don't ask people to sub to you, or Ebeg. You also don't have any monetisation on your videos which is amazing.
Thanks Marauder623! I always treated this hobby exactly for what it is, a hobby. When I first started making videos on RU-vid years ago, my goal was to encourage others to build their own model kits and I never stopped that philosophy. Throughout my years posting videos here on RU-vid, I saw a trend of commercialism. There are videos who has a purpose to sell things or urge the audience to support them financially. These videos are designed in a clever way making the viewer feel inadequate about themselves and their skills. Then they try to sell a product or themselves saying by purchasing or supporting them, they be good as them. That's rubbish! Many people don't even realize they are suckered into this. I don't ask for subs, try to sell a product (not consciously at least) or ask for money. This hobby is supposed to be relaxing and whatever results the modeler gets from building a kit, they should be proud. They should be proud because it comes from them, their own skills, and their own joy. The way I see it, they should never be depressed or feel inadequate from building a model kit. Sorry for the long-winded reply but I feel strongly about this. Take care.
Excellent work as usual Sir, you've lent your talent to delicate, tragic subject. You carried it out with the proper tone it deserves. Thank you for helping us all never to forget.
Thanks Tracykim7721! Making this video was hard because I had to balance it with enough seriousness about the tragedy but, at the same time, balance it with enough fun to encourage my audience to build their own model kits. It is cool you can notice this hard work of mine. Most people don't even think how challenging it is to edit a video. Bravo! :)
Brilliant build... As I've already said on facebook, I like how the figures stand out by their colourful clothes, against the drab colours of the German soldiers, the Kubelwagen and the building. Great build, great diorama... and fitting music too! :)
Thanks Rob, Color contrast was a key element in this diorama that few people don't think of. I had to make the Jews stand out in the diorama so the viewer can focus their attention to them. The best way to do that is to use colorful clothes. It took a while for me to think about this before I started painting the figures. You are one of the few viewers who noticed this technique. Cool :)
Great work! I'm glad that you were able to use modelling to give us a reminder of the sad things that WWII brought. Without reminders like this history has the potential to repeat itself.
@@qdc748a I’m 55 meow and well into my “Midlife crisis modeling phase” rediscovering modeling. My brother sent me Dad’s Paasche Model H that we used over 40 years ago! He shared a box of old kits too, one WWI plane kit is dated 1957!
@@catlady8324 We're about the same age. I started this hobby again about 11 years ago as a means to relax from a stressful day at work. I had old how to books from my youth that I still kept so I started to read those old books again and make model kits. It's a wonderful experience for me. I hope your entry back into this hobby will be an enjoyable one. Take care.😃😃
Such a cool build, the way you explain your techniques, the historical background, all it's there. Very sensible subject, I love German uniforms of that particular period of time because of the almost infinite possibilities. But I had a not so good experience with someone who I latter found out was in the Israeli air force, he started insulting me saying that I was a fascist and that he hoped that my Arab partners stab me in the back. I tried to explain that I wasn't interested in politics, just a simple uniformology aficionado. But anyway it's always refreshing to watch your videos my friend, strait forward and inspiring. Cheers mate!
Antisemitism is such a huge and old hatred that only in recent times that it's beginning to diminish but only slightly. This afternoon, I was watching an documentary on art and they linked art with terrorism with a murder of an archaeologist in Syria in 2015 by ISIS. They claim themselves as the new rulers of Syria and they claim 82-year-old Khaled al-Asaad as a non-believer to their cause so they tortured and killed him for not telling them the secrets to the treasures they wanted. It's people's beliefs that causes hatred towards another culture or religion. I don't know you but I would like to assume you collect German uniforms exactly as you say you do, because you are interested in them. I don't think you hate Jews or believe in NAZI ideologies. In fact, I think it's quite cool that you do collect them. For me, I have German letters from WWII and it doesn't make me a Jew hater. For me, making a video like this only shows that I am very open minded and in a small way a fighter for freedom. I'm sure you are a great guy and it's cool you are sharing this personal clash you have with me and others on RU-vid. Take care my friend :)
That's correct, no political issues. My personal perspective is that of acceptance, empathy, not hatred. But I do understand that there is so much people hurt by the horrors themselves have gone through or their families, that's not easy not to feel angry.
Your figure building is masterful mate - I wish I could achieve those sorts of results with my figures! This is a great build on an important historical topic; and you really did it justice. As always, looking forward to your next one!
I have been wracking my brain for a couple of days trying to figure out where I'd seen this before. Then I went to the Band of Brothers model group to see if there were any updates and *poof*...it hit me...lol Great job sir!
Absolutely amazing I study ww2 you sir do beautiful work it's great to see people never forget and enjoy history as myself I'm a war bird fan myself, my grandfather flew a p51 mustang 8th airforce flying out of England then France and my moms father was a tanker in a Sherman in France into Belgium and so on both lived but never really talked just seen neat pictures
I am glad you like it 😀. It is common for people not to talk about the war. I have many older friends who don't talk about it much. Most see their service as a duty to their country and once the war was over, they just want to put it behind and live on. It's common. Anyway if you like this video, you might like my next project. I am building the Tamiya Churchill tank. Take care. ☺️
Thank you David for a very interesting video of a terrible time. You should consider a masterclass video on figures. Yours are superb. Greetings from Ireland.
Another great and informative build , David ! Love you figure building, I always have a little trouble with the Miniart and MB figures, but after they are finished , they look great ! Until next time , have a great Summer. Any trips planned for this year ? Take care, Tony
Thanks Tony! I'm glad you liked it. I just came back from another trip to Europe. In fact, my next project will include me in Europe. I don't want to give away the secret to where I went to but I think you are going to like the my next project. Take care.
Nice model, you forgot a detail one the mandatory star armband,or star on clothing. Also on I'd card! Anyway great model. My dad was in ww2 I could tell you some wall slogans he saw in Germany. Write me and I will let you know. Nick.
haven't built anything in a while--waiting for the 1/24 scale airfix hellcat to come out. last thing i built was the studio scale classic cylon raider from moebius. nice kit--had the engines lit, but the wiring inside i think got crimped and the engine lights went out. still, i think it came out well enough. i'd show you pics but i don't want to hijack your feed. great work!
Excellent video and great diorama. I'd also like to point out. The Feldgardarmie (military police that you assembled) their metal neck badges had a gold color below the eagle. Wonderful build.
Thanks Barrie :). I always read and saw videos about Hitler's craziness against the Jews. When I went to Europe for the first time and see the neighborhood Jews lived in Paris, I was moved to build this diorama. Not trying my best would be a shame for me. Take care my friend.
Bonjour ☺️. My French is not that strong so I will have to reply to you in English. I am sorry. You are welcome. This is a challenging project to do but I am happy with my work 😊. Have a great day my friend 😊
Great work once again man,a very tumultious period in history indeed, one of our worst in the history of the human race mme thinks, you have captured what you are trying to convey this story very well, keep the great work coming, cheers
I don't know QDC, while this is fantastic you think the best one you've done? That Operation Overlord beach one you did was to me the Opus :) either way phenominal!
Another beautifully made and painted kit/diorama Do you think you’ll ever make Takom’s 1/144 P1000 Ratte? It even comes with two 1/144 scale Maus tanks
Very impressive work ! To put my two cents in, I think the free french sign would be more accurate if it was simply a "Croix de Lorraine" underlined with a "V" (for Victory), since "FFI" was mostly bore by resistance troops from D-Day on, along the progression of allied troops inland... Anyway, very good realisation and moving subject, thanks :)
@@TheCromptonnut mixing paints seems to be a lost art in the model kit community. It's just black mixed with white. To make it an authentic German panzer grey, you add a little blue. It's that simple. I don't have magic powers. You can mix this yourself and you will achieve the same color like mine. Give it a try. Start with inexpensive paints first to get the feel and when you feel confident, use your favorite paints. Really, try it.
Nice build as always,as belgian i am glad to see people remembering what happened.Specially now with extreme right gaining power.the song was a nice touch
Thank you Pascal VB. Throughout history, people have always looked for others to blame things on. It's the easiest thing to do and the end result is people get hurt. The Holocaust should be an awaking call to stop blaming troubles onto others but people are still blaming. It is a sad fact.
I thought about that. I asked myself "Why would the German military ask for identification for someone who is already marked as a Jew?" That's the reason why I left it off. Take care :)
@@talksmoke1190 You have a good point! :) I didn't know the German military done such sophisticated things to the Jews. It's both scary and disturbing. You certainly know your history. Thank you very much.
My greetings QDC, great video, only a detail..the material responsable of the persecution of Jewa in France. at least atprinciple was the GESTAPO and the SD (Sicherheindienst) or Security Service, part of the SS so show a member of militar polixe is unexact, this is a image of the type of uniform used really www.pinterest.com/pin/359443614008194981/?lp=true. And remember that the Vichy regime took the first anti-Jewish measures slightly after the German authorities in the autumn of 1940. On 3 October 1940, Vichy passed a set of anti-Jewish laws called the Statut des Juifs ("Statute on Jews") to solve the Jewish question in areas under its control. The destruction of shops of jews was mainly by members of the right wing of the party of Pierre Laval. The German authorities took increasing charge of the persecution of Jews, while the Vichy authorities were forced towards a more sensitive approach by public opinion. However, the Milice, a French paramilitary force inspired by Nazi ideology, was heavily involved in rounding up Jews for deportation
My grandfather was in the red cross in Pattons army and witnessed 1st hand the evil and horror of the concentration camps as the Americans approached Germany. Nice project!
@@qdc748a hate of any kind is the worst people can be...ironically, the Nazi party blamed the Jews for the things the Nazis were doing to the Jewish community. A sick and twisted chapter in History. Hopefully it will never happen again.
