Thank you for watching. This is the complete build of the Academy models M3 Lee tank We used the new paint from Mission Models to paint the model in faded Olive Drab ANDY'S HOBBY HEADQUARTERS 15224 N 59TH AVE SUITE 12 GLENDALE, AZ 85306
Even with 40 years of modeling experience, i am still able to learn something from Andy: Cleaning up small parts after they are attached. And that Vallejo Acrylic Putty is very handy!
I'm new to your channel and the RU-vid modeling world . I Love your work and at 61 years old you and the other RU-vidrs have got me building models again . Thank you and Merry Christmas from the great state of Ohio .
Another fantastic Model for sure. You are a true craftsman. Now, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or make someone angry, but I enjoyed this video the best, simply because there was no music. None at all and I was a very happy modeler wanna be. LOL! Anyway, thank you again for a terrific tutorial video on a really neat tank. I'm going to have to get this particular type of tank, hopefully in my go to company of Tamiya. Nothin' against Academy, I just prefer Tamiya.
Great video Andy, I m currently going through my first academy model, an m 18 Hellcat, looks quite nice, and something different to offer other than Tamiya, and thanks for recommending the Vallejo putty, that will come in very useful in future builds
I remember making one of these.... I did paint some of the wheels before I took them off of the tree.... But mine didn't look nearly as good as this. Only thing I did which I've yet to see others do... is "smoke" certain parts (with a lighter) to give some things a burnt look. Mostly did that with Planes or Jets
Okay, I don't know everything, but I know that design of tank was origionally called a "Grant"-from WWII photos/listings. Also the Grant's side cannon wasn't nearly as long as is the one on your model (don't they elevate/rotate?)!! Tamia/Tamya(sp?) was my favorite WWII model company!! They ('69-'73) when I bought them, some were even motorized, and actually wish I still had them!! Have fun, sincerely Randy.
Bought this kit. This kit would make an outstanding technology demonstrator on how to produce flashing. It reminds me of the Revel kits from back in the day. I'm spending more time cleaning up and trimming the parts than I am in assembling them.
Like that Academy is producing some nice kits, always good to have another choice of manufacturer. M3 Lee/Grant has some crazy angles, good to see Academy pull it off so well. Liked the build and painting/weathering, nice to see bit of a 'grungy' finish - looks great. Awesome video as always!
Outstanding painting and weathering on another great build Andy. thanks for all the videos and tips throughout the year, love your channel. keep up the good work , Merry Christmas :)
very nice model mind you I enjoy all your videos I'm currently building this kit but converting it into a British Army version in Burma. keep the bids coming cheers Andy.
The end result, as usual, looks really good. One thing I noticed though, when you started the "wash" it really wasn't a wash/panel liner to make the details pop, you applied and blended it more like a filter.
Andy's Hobby Headquarters good morning. I was entranced by his video. I ask that uses glue and if you can send me the link to buy it? thanks again and inscribed immediately.
Andy your videos are truly fun, and very entertaining model build videos. The best actually most informative Thank you for your videos Cool stuff my friend !!!! Love US Armor , early N Africa Campaign . Andy you the Man!!!
i really love this channel, i learned a lot how to paint, masking, washing etc from your channel, great! i love military model kit especially tank. Andy could you please someday make your shop tour video? :) thank you
Used to have alot of issues with Academy kits back in the day. Probably the worst Academy kit I've ever done was the Tiger I w/interior before I knew about the wrong things like the cupola. This build looks nice though, great job and enjoyed watching.
hey Andy really enjoy watching you build all these models, I can tell you do a lot to make the videos really helpful, has anyone asked you to list the paints you use on a model, as some of the really weathered ones, you use paints, washes, dust, dull coat, hair spray, and that stuff for the decals, etc. and for the modelers that are inexperienced a list would be very helpful.
I seem to remember that when the Lee and Grant kits first came out Academy got the suspension units wrong and then they came out with correct sprues to fix this issue.. I still have both kits in the stash..
Anyone thinking the M3 Lee looks very funky? 😁 it looks pretty bad but at the same time good 😋 By the way the M3 was a total disaster in real life. Almost no gun depression so it could not get into hull-down positions. The armour was bolted so when the tank was hit the armour could just fall off. Great build Andy! Keep it up!
That looks really great Andy, well done my friend. I hope that you have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, Happy Yuletide, Happy Hanukkah or whatever makes you most happy and fulfilled. Sending warm wishes to you and your family during this Christmas Season. May your home be blessed with love and happiness (and maybe a few nice presents too). Many thanks for all of the fantastic videos this year, they have been so interesting, helpful and also entertaining too. Many Thanks and have fun Andy, Joe
Hey Andy are you going to start to carry Mission Model paints and other items from them? Great Job on the weathering of the Lee. I liked how you explained the washes.
what a great build Andy !!!! The weathering is superb...would you recommend the Vallejo putty to do Zimmerit?...have a great Xmas and all the best in the New Year to you n all the viewers.
Hi Andy, That is a fantastic job on the M3 Lee, I agree with what Dack stated, your building style is the most entertaining on RU-vid, keep going strong, also I would like to wish you and your family and viewers all the very best for the holiday season and a safe and Happy New Year. here in Australia it is going to be about 35deg (100deg old scale) for Xmas Day.
Dear Andy! This is one of yours best videos I like it so much. I am a big fan of yours from EU/Hungary. I would like to build up this kit but please tell me where to buy this great "Demon decal ? The original kit does not include it. Thank you!
Andy, great video been watching from the beginning, you r getting better and better. I did one after watching the movie Sahara with Bogart, ha be a pic on my phone and would like to send you a picture, but where?
Andy, how does the Academy M3 Lee compare to the Takom M3 Lee? They look just as each other. I like way the Mission Model looked after you spraying them on. Thanks also Andy for the warning of the springs. To remember 2 dry fit every part and check out the the instructions. 😭🕊
No #57 Buff on that model ? ^^ Just kidding... :p Nice video, as always. Thank you ! if only you coul build the Meng AMX-30B as I'm planning to do it, it should be a strong help for me. Greetings from France and Merry Christmas !
Who in the wide world of sports down votes these videos? This guy is a model making genius! I have not built anything in decades but love watching this guy work.
Merry X'mas Andy and u guys :) Saw your black and white method. Does it only work while spray painting or can you use that method with hand painting with a brush too? Thanks
