When we started our homestead road project we hit a roadblock when it came to finding “Slag”our chosen gravel topping. That caused us to postpone our project until the shortage was corrected. Now that the slag shortage is over we went to work topping the road and packing it down.
After The road was completed we moved on to building the pad for our new barndo. Building the homestead house pad required moving a whole lot of dirt from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill.
Building the homestead house pad ended up taking a full day of pushing dirt uphill with a John Deer bulldozer. After all of the dirt was pushed up the hill the the homestead house pad was compacted and smoothed so as to be ready for the construction of the pole barn.
Join me as I take the journey of building a homestead house pad and finish my homestead road!

I thought it fairly odd that the hopper trucks pulled in instead of backing onto the property. I've had to level land a few times building our motorcycle shops. Every load of dirt, gravel or road base backed in so that they had a sure way back out. Just like our big heavy RV's, if you hang a steer tire off into something soft, it takes a very expensive wrecker to get it back out. Looking good! Now the real fun begins...

I thought it was kinda odd but with all of the slope on my land an end dump would not really be very safe so perhaps that is why they used the belly dump. It did not really matter to me how they got it done as long as they did not such my culvert ends and they did not. thanks for watching!

I have an acre of land in New Caney I've never done nothing with, it's just sitting there. This makes me want to do some work on it.

Looking good!! Just think what you could do with a D8 cat if that little Deere did that. I would love to play with one of those.

I wanted to jump into that dozer and play around but I really wanted the job finished more. Now if we could only find a reliable barn builder! Thanks for watching!
