In this video I build the DIY Mini Shaker Table and I demonstrate its use and measure the recovery rate with a real gold sample.
I've uploaded a Sketchup drawing (version 8) of the device so that you can make modifications to the table design and build your own. Here's the link to the drawing:
drive.google.com/file/d/1T3bl...
Download the drawing. Find Sketchup8 on the web and install it. Open the sketchup file (.skp) in the application.
Key words: DIY Gold Shaker Table, Build a Gold Shaker Table, Gold Prospecting, Gold Shaker Table, Gold Extraction, Gold Recovery.

@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
Hi Adam. On this small table I used two steps, each about 1/8", in order to reject the lighter material as it flows toward the output ports. Sounds like you get that. Otherwise, the bed is flat. In use, I slope the bed downward toward the tailings drain by 1/4" per foot so that the water flows in a direction that's more or less perpendicular to the water bar. I noticed you weren't shy in your feeding rate. I wonder if you slowed your feeding rate to half , would that have increased your gold recovery to 100% ? What adjustment or modification would have the biggest influence on the ratio of gold to black sands caught in Port 1 ? The aim would be to have pure gold in Port 1.

The commercial tables all seem to have V shaped grooves with a straight side on the "down" side and a "ramp" on the "up" side. Yours is flat bottomed "U". Comments about utility of the different groove shapes? Also.... where did you buy the rubber? Great vid -great design! You da' man!
@orophilia

Yeah, I've noticed the different groove designs. I tried a round bottom and a V-groove and neither worked well. Someday I may make a fixture for the router to try the "ramp" form. @orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
Good morning. I worked with the machine for many hours before I understood how to get optimum performance from it. If the gold doesn't move past the first step in the table then you may need to increase the rate of shaking. I use a variable power supply voltage to adjust the speed. On my machine, the optimum peak to peak motion is 12 mm at a rate of between 5 and 7 cycles per second. The flexures are 1/16" thick, 2 inches wide and have a free span of 5 inches. Let us know how it goes! Thanks for the views. --Dave

@@DWCStuff The problem of gold concentration changes dramatically based on the size of the gold particles and the amount of other heavy minerals. It's very interesting to find the optimum tuning of the table for each set of conditions. For example, separating gold from black beach sand is totally different from separating gold from milled load ore. I'll be doing more demonstrations of this in the future. It's very hard to fully separate small gold particles from black beach sand. It's best done in two steps. -- Dave

First of all, may I say this is a great piece of machinery in general and especially to have been done as a DIY project! 😍 I do have a question on the slope: it seems to me as though the table is pushing the gold up and not down - is this the case? Is it possible to draw some arrows just to point out the movement of the material from when when it’s added onto the table to when it goes down the drain? Thanks!
@orophilia
@orophilia Год назад
The motion of the table is along the grooves in the rubber mat and upward at an 18 degree angle, also in that direction, from left to right. This drives the gold and other heavy material into the water bar, which washes that material back toward the tailings trough, into the nearest groove and the process repeats until the heavy stuff arrives at the right edge of the table. Thanks for the question!
