Constructing the torso by hammering, welding, filing and machining some of the small details. No cast parts in this episode! Now the torso is complete, next, I can start fitting some other parts to it.
In this series of videos I'm covering the building from scratch of a full size working Terminator T-800 robot (endoskeleton). No kits or premade parts involved, I'm going to be constructing all of it myself.

Viewers seem to strongly prefer machinist content with voice over explanations like this old tony or abom. This content with a good voice-over explaining the tools, materials, problems, etc would do a million views per video.

Being a huge fan of all things Terminator (Judgement Day is one of the best movies ever made) this video was a delight to find and watch. Going back now to watch all previous parts of this build. Thank you for taking the time to feed my need for more Termination.

Oh shit, awesome to see you back, this thing is going to look amazing. I unfortunately can’t afford machinery and metal lol, so I’m about to buy and start building the 1:2 scale t-800 from agora models. Lol
@AndysMachines
@AndysMachines 2 года назад
I was kind of following the progress of the 1:2 model when it was launched by Hachette here in the UK shortly after I started building my one.

@@AndysMachines The fingers on the T-800 we,re abloody nightmare Andy. And the entire hand was astupid/brittle soft plastic. I,m surprised that nobody tried to do asilicone mould the release agent so,s that nothing sticks to the mould itself. And just redo the halfscale T-800 hands/simply hav it all done in alluminium instead as it,s asimple lightweight metal to work with 🥶😫🤖🖐

I just realized you can do all,of your cuts with a bandsaw and or a jigsaw. Aluminum is soft and cuts like butter. Btw, Coconut fat is the best lubricant for aluminum. It's what Boeing uses.
@AndysMachines
@AndysMachines 2 года назад
Yes, a bandsaw would have been better for some of the cuts, particularly the curved ones, but I don't own one. I did use a jigsaw to cut some of the parts out of a large aluminium sheet.
@bobweiram6321
@bobweiram6321 2 года назад
@@AndysMachines I forgot to say why I mentioned it. I am interested in working with sheetmetal and saw that terrifying finger snipper and thought, "Oh no! I'll have to buy one!" I then realized my bandsaw can do it easily if it's aluminum. Steel would be hard to do on a wood bandsaw with a fast blade speed. By the way, metal portabands and horizontal bandsaws are incredibly cheap nowadays thanks to the chinese. Grizzly and Wen sell a model with a table attachment. It was about $200.
@AndysMachines
@AndysMachines 2 года назад
@@bobweiram6321 The 'finger snipper' (bench shear) is a great tool, quick clean cuts even in steel up to 3mm, it will also cut rods up to about 10mm and takes up very little space when not in use. It won't cut curves though. I have owned several bandsaws over the years, including a chinese horizontal metal saw, which I have since converted into the power hacksaw you can occasionally see on my channel (I got fed up with how quickly it broke blades, and I can buy 20x hacksaw blades for the price of one M42 bandsaw blade)

Looks great... Does this mean we're going to see arms and legs in the future? PS: are using a heat treatment in between panel beating cycles?
@AndysMachines
@AndysMachines 2 года назад
Thanks! Yes, there will be limbs! I'm using aluminium sheets that are annealed to start with but because the curves on the torso are more subtle I didn't need to reheat the metal whilst working it, unlike parts of the skull where I had to re-anneal several times to fully form it.

I see you use aluminum quite a bit. Do you prep the tools at all with anything to prevent buildup?
@AndysMachines

Usually just cutting oil that I apply with a brush, sometimes nothing.

Amazing work. Are you doing this all by eyeballing it or do you have schematics?
@AndysMachines
@AndysMachines Год назад
Mostly by looking at pictures/screen grabs. I also have some 3D models for reference for general dimensions and a small plastic toy. I'm not trying to create a perfect replica and have made a few small design changes of my own. The endoskeleton itself changed slightly with each film anyway.
