3-phase power isn't standard in the US or where you live? Or did you mean you made a 3-phase outlet in your workshop? If the first, 3-phase is standard in every electrical hookup here. Most high power appliances like cooking stoves run of it and the 3 phases are used independently to power separate lines inside a home to spread load too.
This is amazing Jeremy! As an engineer who draws in CAD, creates programs, operates waterjets, and regularly fixes and maintains them, I have the upmost respect for anyone who builds any sort of CNC device from scratch. Even installing a new machine can be a massive task. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person, but I'm always blown away by your brilliance and how articulate you are. Bravo!
I can only imagine SolidWorks is feeling the heat from Fusion 360 taking all of their customers. And considering the solidworks pricing, it's no surprise they're looking to get some of that user base back.
Just found your channel last night. Was watching the progression from treadmill and washing machine motors and then this. I was like "holy crap, that's amazing". Love to have a tool like that to build with. Such a smart guy and love the way you present and put these videos together. Subscribed and hit the bell. Looking forward to watching more from you. Glad to see you got such an awesome sponsor.
I have been subscribed to you for a long time Jeremy, learned a lot from you and always enjoyed you grabbing treadmills and washers from the side of the road and this one of my favourite videos of yours, you can feel the excitement you are experiencing, it is infectious and hats off to Racheal and Solidworks for identifying the motives for your vids and suporting education, often times youtubers are tool/equipment collectors posing as makers/educators, you are the real deal and solid works was smart enough to know the difference, well done SW
The amount of work that this project involved must have been daunting. Kudos to you and SolidWorks for doing this for us and rewarding you for your hard work.
You are a man's man brother. You have a big heart for others and It seems pretty obvious and I appreciate that. Stay humble and do what you do! God bless you Jeremy.
Holy shit man, you took it to the next level exponentially. You are going to sky rocket in subs with this. Honestly speaking this is top tier geekery on you tube. Can't wait to see more.
Jeremy Fielding mate you are a legend. Throughout my career, I've been watching RU-vid clips and I can say you are by far the best and easiest educator to watch in the engineer side of things. I wish I was in your shoes and had the time and money to do everyone of your videos. I have started back down the rabbit hole now I'm back in engineering full time and hope to get a few of these project done. Thank again for the great videos and the time and effort you put into it.
Amazing Mr. Fielding! I teach SW in my mechatronics class. We program CNC mill/router/plasma/4thaxis/laser but BUILDING one is a dream. I'll show my high schoolers while we work on their CSWA.
My man! I sub to a lot of channels, ranging from woodworking, forging/knife making, CNC, chemistry.. just tons of subjects. The DIY type stuff just goes with my hobbies, and work (industrial maintenance). I’ve learned a lot from you, so I was so thrilled to see this. You are one of the few you tubers I watch that I really believe needed some sort of break to push their content. The sponsorship is a blessing for you and all your viewers. I really look forward to see where you go from here. It’s kind of weird how excited I am, for another guy, on the other side of my iPad.
Oh man! Haven't checked in on the channel in a long time (tiny shop, space saving days). The resources are really helping that vision come through. So stoked for all you're doing and what's to come. Thanks!
Man I'm so glad you're finding success with your channel, I think its awesome! You're a good teacher, I like how you recycle and re-use old equipment too. Cheers!
Jeremy, I love your content man. Congrats on the sponsorship, and the CNC build. You're an inspiration (because of you I have a room filling up with random motors I have found). Whenever I start thinking I have bitten off more than I can chew with a project, I see what you have achieved and it recharges my batteries. I would love to see in depth Solid Works tutorials from you that are live creations of simple solutions, that dive into the "why" of design. Most CAD tutorials are specific in the features they are teaching, rather than focusing on methodology, thought process, considerations, etc... for actually designing something. I feel like your down to earth way of explaining things would make for really interesting instructional design videos. Thanks for the great content.
Never seen you so enthusiastic ! Really looks like a great video series will be watching. No doubt I will get some tips and ideas . To big for my workshop but always a pleasure to watch you and congratulations on your sponsorship I just amazed it took so long for one to pick up on you.
First 40 seconds: Jeremey's reaction "This is officially the coolest thing I've made. Look at that! UNH!!!" (great big grin on his face) This calls for an "immediate" thumbs up!! 👍😎😁
I started using SolidWorks years ago in my small startup design and manufacturing business. I ended up with a room full of engineers, each with their own SW license, by the time I sold my business last year. I can honestly say I never could have had the level of success I did without SolidWorks, their support, and training. After six months of sitting on my behind watching RU-vid I'm starting to get ideas again. I think it's almost time to get a fresh license and start the process all over again. Your shop is looking great by the way.
Bill if you don't mind, what type of things were you designing in your first business. This is so new to me & above my head, wanted to do some guitar designs but the coding above my head.
@@jettramel We made assemblies for industrial vehicles using sheet metal, mechanical, and thermoformed plastic. SW was ideal for collaboration with customers and suppliers. I never had to touch G-code myself. I found the SW user interface to be quite intuitive.
This is thing is awesome, a real showcase of all the skills and passion that make you an inspirational maker. At this rate, with your talent and ingenuity, you’ll be running a R&D consultancy in a few years.
I just acquired a massive office printer for free via Facebook marketplace. I plan on salvaging the motors, and using them to make a small CNC. I'm really looking forward to this series! Your channel is one of the best educational resources I've found online!
I knew were sharp but after watching this video you upped your game and now I see nothing but brilliance. Great videos and the content is also fun to watch.
This is AWESOME. So excited for you.. can only imagine how cool that must have been to have Solidworks reach out like that. And you totally deserve it.. it's great to see more and more people discover how cool your channel is. Can't wait for the rest of this project and more to come in the future!
WELL DONE, Mr. Fielding !!!!!!!! SolidWorks, is one of about 4 top cad software platforms, while not forgetting, SolidWorks has been involved in our live helping us make a better world, and do it faster with less stress.... of course, once past the learning curve, which to be expected, but not to believe it will overwhelm a person.... Congrats !!!!!
It's always super fun watching your videos. This is so cool. And SolidWorks made a genius move to sponsor you. They can really give F360 a run for their money.
I cant believe you kept this a secret... I saw the tour you gave of your new shop. You said you were excited, but.... sir, you must give a master's lesson in poker! I have chills just thinking about getting a call like that. Well done!!
I'm VERY interested in this build. I've been designing/planning a build very similar to this (multi-function CNC) that I plan to start once my shop addition is complete this fall. Congrats on the great sponsorship from SolidWorks. Can't wait to gobble up all of your usual juicy details.
Brother Jeremy love what you have done. I have been working on a similar project for the last ten months, but it's not yet finished. This has encouraged me to keep moving forward. You've made it. I love it.
Just found your channel. I have been using Solidworks since 2011. I love it. I, too, have my own license at home. I draw everything first. Bathroom Remodel, Radio Control Parts, Drone Parts and have even designed my own CNC Router. It is almost complete. A couple more weeks and I will be cutting my own parts. Woo Hoo. Anyway, thanks for the info and keep it coming.
So that's what you've been up to! Awesome! I'm really excited about the build series, especially how you rolled your own rotary phase converter which I'm in the process of now.
I just ran across one of your videos, "things you can make with a washing machine" and had to subscribe because you're amazing. Can't wait to see more.
Congratulations on the sponsorship and an amazing project. It's great that you're recognized for your efforts. I typically feel that combo tools are a tool that gets to do everything poorly, but, they're a reality of a small home shop with a non-production-level budget. Everything wood is bad for everything metal, everything metal is bad for everything wood. Etc. And it's true, if you're churning out a product line. But it looks like you've minimized the annoyances and built a 95% solution that's going to need a little maintenance but otherwise can do the job.
Great video and great project. I would like to suggest that you add a home position switch on your fence rail and a home button feature in your menu. This will position your fence automatically, eliminating having to re-calibrate the fence distance from the blade after you move your fence manually. It is an awesome project congratulations.
This project has me so excited! That rotary plasma cutter is something I never even realized was possible. Love the channel, looking forward to the series!
Jeremy, I always enjoy your videos and this one no exception. Excellent machine and sponsor! Thank you Solidworks for sponsoring Jeremy on this project so that he can continue to inspire us in RU-vid land!
Very nice work. Not just on the construction but shopping around and finding the best buy for your money. This is truly the "Ultimate CnC cutting and carving machine.
It seems that Solidworks is just the thing I’m looking for.😁 I love your channel, I found it just as I’m getting back into really building things and with Solidworks I’ll be able to do the impossible and save enough time using it to actually get things done.👍👍
Congratulations on the sponsorship, and credit to SolidWorks for seeing your ability. You so deserve the boost - your content is awesome. I can't wait to see more.
As a CNC programming student that has a soft spot for Solidworks, I am really looking forward to this series. I watched your electric motors videos a while back, and started casually following you. Ever since you dropped that picture of G code on Instagram I have been eagerly awaiting this video.
@Despiser Despised you're forgetting or choosing to ignoring that everything changed in the sixties when the Reps tok over as the party of racism, bigotry and ignorance. And since then the Republicans have stayed true to these values, with the Russian puppet inhabiting the Oval Office and Turtle McConnell in charge having their followers fighting over breadcrums.
All i see in this video is an amazing man with an enormous amount of clever ingenuity on disply. A hero of the do it yourself attitude. There is no room for the racist blabber mouth rant. Devious despicable, go back to your meetings.
Man, you are awesome. I am actually in the design phase of a mill/laser/drag knife machine myself, significantly smaller form factor, targeting 1000x600 mm. Thank you for your content man.
0:30 This my friends is the coolest thing I've ever made. Proceeds to NOT showing it to us. Priceless. Fantastic build. Your enthusiasm is well earned. Cheers!
@@brainsironically Solidworks is not even an option for us hobbyists as one would need to be a professional machine shop to even consider the purchase. Fusion 360 is really the only realistic option and it is an excellent product for the price. It seems odd that Solidworks would think Jeremy's viewers would be interested/able to purchase it. That is not to take away from their good deed.
If you are a US or Canadian veteran, Solidworks has a good price for the Student Version, $20 USD/$40 CAD. See store.solidworks.com/veteran/default.php
Incredible !! I have been planning to build the exact same setup from scratch with the exception of the 4th axis, which is a great idea. MY HAT IS OFF TO SOLIDWORKS WHAT THEY DID REALLY RESTORES A GUYS FAITH IN HUMANITY! RACHAEL SOUNDS PRETTY AWESOME TOO ! KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING!!
That is BADASS man! Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to check out the build and electronics! I built an MPCNC and want to build a Lowrider2 ASAP, but am thinking to use metal instead of wood so I can use plasma. I never even knew about the 4th rotary axis until this vid, but now I am hooked!
