Excellent work!! Thank you so much for a video with not too many overwhelming details, just enough for a beginner to understand and follow. I have got a couple of queries if you don't mind helping with please. I am planning to fit a wardrobe in a similar space but on either sides of a chimney breast. The biggest problem is that I'm unable find a readymade wardrobe that fits the space. So a better option would be to go for a built in. One side of the wardrobe would need to project out a little bit and I'm not sure how to get that to look good. Also I'm planning for a folding door rather than sliding. would that be too different in terms of the frame you have shown here? Ta

Great job ..good to see some different techniques of building the wardrobes.. I use my festool 240 and it's brilliant .. only one downside re your new battery makita saw is you can't plug in to the hoover so every cut you have to switch hoover on/off by hand
@LTWCarpentry

Yes I get that but I had to do that with my festool aswell due to its being 110v if you plug the transformer into it that will keep the vacuum running as it’s constantly drawing voltage, I’m okay with turning the vacuum on when I want it. Thanks for the comment buddy ! Keep them coming !

Cheers for the comment buddy, really appreciate it, there’s a couple of reasons really, firstly I had plenty of room in the wardrobe for what was needed and secondly I try to avoid lining things flush, walls a very rarely straight and plumb and the closer you try and get to that the more you highlight how far out they are, I will always try and create and reveal if I can as it looks better in the eye.

In terms of painting, is it ever better to pre-paint pieces or prefill gaps to make decorating easier and cleaner?
@LTWCarpentry
@LTWCarpentry Год назад
Hi mate, yes it easier to pre paint the surfaces, the only down side to that is making them for cutting ect, saying the cutting pre finished panels is something I do all the time. Normally I would prefinish but in a case like this were the customer is decorating that’s not possible. Thanks for your comment buddy, I really appreciate it

Hi,thanks for the video, my opening for doing the same is 163 cm and depth is only 28cm,so I was going to build a stud frame on top front as ceiling is 2.45 and stud on end where it needs to be wider, and piece of timber up wall on opposite side,then plaster board and skim(I'm a plaster). If I make the finished opening width 1.5m and height from timber on the floor to underside of plastered top section of stud 2.26cm will that be correct ? Cheers

If the opening is a few mil wider or higher, will this matter, as cls timber isn't that straight and when you board, bead and skim it,it can amplify the wood being out. I guess I'm saying what are the tolerances ? Cheers
@LTWCarpentry
@LTWCarpentry 2 года назад
@@neilrollason if anything I would aim for a little smaller it dosent matter if the doors overlap when closed and you don’t want to opening to be to tall when putting the doors in, I would suggest getting you doors and checking the physical size of them before making the opening.

@neilrollason 2 года назад
@@LTWCarpentry cheers, are the top and bottom track exactly 1.5m,and if the opening was slightly narrower would you be able to cut them down and if height was less than 2.26m would it affect the fit? Sorry if I sound pedantic,🙂 just trying to suss out what the tolerances are. Cheers for your help 👍
