Anyone bashing 'built' cars either has never owned one nor built one. When you have $25k into something YOU created versus an $80k vehicle anyone with financing can walk in and get a cookie cutter car..... You'll never understand the pride
@@dr.jillalicecooper2587 not my style & yeah I made fun of them weed wacker civics back in the day but to each their own & they ARE using the same homebuilt formula the muscle car guys use.
Well you can't discredit bought cars. Some people worked their ass off to afford an $80k car. Some guy in an office crunching numbers all day just to pay for student loans and a mortgage wants to have some weekend fun. Probably doesn't know how to build a car in his garage or have the time, but loves racing enough to go out and spend the money. That's that make him not understand your so called pride? You're saying he can't pat himself on the back for working hard to afford such a car? If that's the case with everything, build your own TV, stove, microwave, watch etc., because there's no pride in just buying them. Make your own paper towels and socks. Hell the car you got was bought, you didn't build it from scratch. Silly logic.
@@DroneStrike1776 all I'm saying is when you build your way there's more personal joy than just buying. I've built a few and bought a couple both ways & buying just isn't the same satisfaction as building.
They were waiting for boost to build, the actual times don't take into account reaction time. You should look for diesel drag races, those guys will sit at green for like 5 seconds
@@ultimateracer_ To be clear. I dont know anything about this... but are you saying that who crosses the line first in these races matters less than how quickly they individually ran the road?
I've built plenty and bought a few very nice rides and the difference is the bought one can be used everyday no issues where the built one always has those funny issues oh you have to do this and push this before you start it and it overheats in traffic is a popular one
Had that problem so many times lol. It was actually quite nice change to buy a factory car that runs on par with my built vehicles without worry of overheating or electrical issues or timing issues lol
Well they only overheat in traffic if not built properly. They need upgraded radiator, oil cooler etc etc. My uncle has a 46 chev pickup with a blown 454 with around 1000 hp at the wheels had no problem driving in Melbourne, Australia peak hour traffic temperature on that day was 38c that's 100.4 fahrenheit though admittedly my Uncle has been building hot rods and racecars for over 40 years. Built cars only overheat when horsepower is the only focus.
Some guy: I built this car to run wide open for short periods of time. Also some guy: I don't understand why this car drives horribly when it isn't run wide open.
Beware of a car that's way too beat up, rusted and trashed on the outside, but shows up at track. Also beware of huge drags in the back, wheelie bars and parachutes. That old Chevy ripped and sodid the old coupe Accord against the Hellcat.
8:08 That's the most honda thing ever. mismatched body panels, jacked up paint, avoids the water box like he has some actual HP under the hood. Then biffs the launch, struggles to handle the 118 WHP and lays down a mid 15 second quarter lol. No doubt he got to the pics, put his flat-brimmed cap on and had 15 excuses why that run was bad. Edit: No, 9:35 is the most honda thing ever lol
I don't understand why people would spend all that effort and money on a FWD car to begin with. You can have 1000 hp, doesn't do much good when all the weight shifts and you can't get it to the pavement.
Cops don't care if your car is stock or not. It's either legal or it's not. You're either breaking the law or you're not. "It came that way from the factory" has never stopped anyone from getting a ticket for something illegal on their car.
@@Iwasherelol14 truly is the best lesson, I don't care how much or how well your car is modded. I can guarantee you the civic community has done more and done it better. Those guys are crazy.
I love to see venerable built oldies win. Blood, sweat, tears time and money. I was rooting for that Beetle lol. It was my childhood car growing up in the 80s.
Built vs bought is very easy to understand when you realize a person who takes the time to build a vehicle likely understands how it works vs the person who just has a lot of money to buy a vehicle which is mass produced for people with a lot of money…
@@ASoberBear huh? You mean someone actually working on their car? Well if the person doesn’t actually know what they’re doing sure, but it applies equally to bought and built cars. My point is that someone BUILDING a car more likely has experience with mechanics over someone who just spent a lot of money to buy a fast car.
@@kogasoldier9379 If I wanted a different car Id have bought a different car. If I wanted a girl with big boobs id get a girl with big boobs not instal aftermarket later.
Built Vs. Bought is quite literally just Stock vs. Unrestricted. It’s not really that hard of a modification to make a Mustang Dark Horse beat any of these cars.
I feel like most of the "bought" cars also double as daily drivers. The built cars are mostly dedicated drag racing cars, which I assume are extremely unreliable compared to the original stock configuration. You can make a car a LOT faster if all it's really expected to do is make a 1/4 mile between maintenance intervals and anything unnecessary for that task can be stripped out. Really shouldn't even be in the same class for the most part.
But that's not exactly correct. In many cases a built car wasn't at the level of a bought car. But the made it level up by working on it using their own intellect and hard work. The bought car, they paid a professional team to do all that for them.
@@jimmyboy131 Wrong, Bought Cars are meant to be…. Cars. They go on Highways at sixty miles an hour. Now certain cars like Mustangs are meant to go fast, but they’re meant mainly to drive places. A built car has one purpose. Racing. Bought cars have restrictions like trying not to go under ten miles a gallon, and trying not to break down after 50k miles.
@@kindsteel5 A built car can be a race only car, but that's not what I'm thinking of. I'm thinking of a driving car that has been modified for greater performance.
Looks terrible They completely run out of ideas for Mustang. It's just an uglier and more angular 2015 design. Time for something new and fresh but they're not capable of making one.
When the bought cars get upgrades they have to visit the car doctor on occasions. (Mechanic)-[fyi] But at least the built cars have a self service doctor in the front seat. And free of service 😋
@@guerostaybannedthey’re expensive because they come kitted already ? A hellcat is an uptrim of Challenger/Charger so it’s technically built. Hard to work on high end cars that already perform amazing.
One thing about guys who build their own cars is that they know how it went together, and most of us aren't afraid to burn that car to the ground for a W. Guys who buy their cars sometimes get squeamish about scratching the paint because they still owe money on it and they have no clue how to fix it themselves.
Is that an 87 Buick Grand National in the first race? I feel bad for the Camaro that spent all that money on mods to lose to a stock GNX 🤣🤣🤣 [Yes, I'm old.] (honorable mention, do any of these new card drivers know what line lock is???? )
Stock GNX could pull the 1/4 in about 13.5 seconds. Doesn't take very much at all to make them blow into the low 12's like that one though. Those 3.8 engines were absolute monsters.
Turns out if you force an insane amount of boost in an engine and tune the fuel appropriately, car go fast. (Assuming the engine doesn't destroy itself in the process)
I think those last 2 Cars at the end may have suffered some engine damage maybe. I dunno why as I ain't a professional into these, but best I can say is that after Racing/Drag, Best to let the car engine and Tires sometimes cooldown for sometime.
the only bad thing with cars that are modified to be faster than stock muscle cars already with a lot of power, is that they are unsafe. some drivers only drive their fast car on the track rather than the car that was made for power safety and comfort on the road all in one oh yeah and style aswell.
@@davecarsley8773 the modified cars are unsafe is what i am saying the muscle cars that appear to be stock can drive on the road legally and safe. they do have a powerful engine but it has some drawbacks like having to use more of that power for the extra weight coming from the comfort, safety, and whatever is regulated for example the catalytic converter. that muscle car is not ment for a darg strip but rather to stand out on the road.
I went to the drag races on Pomona race way,in the 80s,got to see big daddy racing But they used to go over 300 mph. How come they don't do it anymore???
"Built vs bought" is such a low class phrase. We all put time in to go fast. How you get it done doesn't matter. I've built and bought and it's the same sweat.
Had a Toyota super charged van, that bit a Shelby mustang on the freeway. That thing could go over 200 mph.Going 160, you step on it, and the passing gear would kick in,at almost 200, fifth would kick in and kept gaining speed, but my speedometer only went up to 200,so i never found out the top speed. But it was enough And the work only was like 2000
Yeah youre straight capping the Toyota Previa was the only supercharged Toyota van and the speedo went up to 110 and stock top speed was 115. Aerodynamically youre not going 200 in that thing without at least 6-800hp... Come on bruh.
Built vs bought has the same results in pcs as well. If you build your own instead of buying a prebuilt one for the same amount of money you can make a much better one
Built: "Pull it over so we can fix it!" Bought: "Set an appointment for Tuesday so they can fix it." Might as well be driving around wearing a Dealer plate 😂
Built cars are great and the mechanics that build them are amazing but this is only fair if they were built on the same price point God only knows how much a built car was put into it and you have to deduct the price of the new car from it once you do that you'll have a fair comparison on what it cost to get that horsepower
Built is cheaper, that’s like half the reason most of us started building. Don’t forget the overhead of the big companies and engineers. It’s nice that people with minimal knowledge or understanding can get behind 600+ horsepower with the swipe of a credit card though and have some fun. There isn’t really an argument for which is better it’s all subjective and up to personal preference. Edit: there’s also guys who can afford super cars and build them or have them built so when the guys who build cheaper cars run into one of those idk what they say😂 but any car can win on any given day if you put the right parts into it.
@devenp.5508 well built should be cheaper depending on how crazy you go if your designing your own frame up sky's the limits you can easily drop $100,000
You also have to have money for a garage and tools and time off work etc.. it's probably less to buy a pony car and call it a day. Maybe not the fastest but at least you can still participate lol
Most of the time built cars will beat bought, if done right however the main difference between the two is reliability. A lot of built cars have gotten god knows what done to them, they will not be reliable. A bought car will very likely be much more reliable. And look I'm sure there are some built cars that are reliable, no question about that it goes both ways but the majority simply isn't so I don't have to hear how your "pErFeCtLy BuIlT cAr" is more reliable than any car you can buy from a dealer. It's not and it won't ever be.
Not bashing Bill cars or anything. But most of them build cars that you watch racing have slickers on them. As the other stock cars have street tires. It's an unfair matchup.
