We’re about to be a Christian family of five and my stance when people say “you’re not trusting for your provisions” is to reply “God is providing for us RIGHT NOW, He also provided me the wisdom to know that it is wise to put away food for later” I don’t want to wait until later and then have hungry children looking at me. It is my responsibility as a mother to keep my children fed regardless of what is happening in the world. That even goes a step further to producing our own food- I don’t feel that it is anybody else’s responsibility to feed my family besides me. Sure, I still buy a significant amount of food from the grocery store but we are well on our way to being able to grow/raise/produce enough to avoid being hungry. I have also had the personal conviction that God is calling me to feed people, Jesus fed the people, if I am striving to be more like Christ, then I too should be feeding the people. Sometimes that’s as easy as “oh we have company and I have plenty of food to throw together a nice impromptu meal” and sometimes it’s having all the means to make a dinner and deliver it to a family with a new baby or somebody just had surgery etc and sometimes it’s just “I can bring treats to Bible study tonight!” Because I have everything on hand to do so. Not only that, we raise our own food because then we get to eat really good food! When we host people and they compliment the meal and it’s almost exclusively homegrown, that is a huge opportunity to point people to the Creator and His design and glorifying Him by giving credit for this amazing food that He has given us the ability to grow.
We say yes it’s ok to do. Take the pandemic for example, it’s just in case the unknown may happen. Or even a loss of a job. If someone in the family is sick, you don’t have to go to the store. Not sure if it’s biblical or not. But I feel the Lord has told our family, get stuff just in case!!!
You might want to feel the top of your refrigerator or freezer I didn't notice but sometimes there's a lot of heat up there and your products won't last as long
If you eat oatmeal...I've found mixing cooked quinoa in with cooked oatmeal (25% quinoa/75% oatmeal ) works well and helps get some extra protein into breakfast.
I see a lot of people mix all purpose flour with their home ground flour to get a better result.we are supposed to take care of our families. The Lord gives us the intelligence to think for ourselves.
I totally agree with you on your reasons for keeping a bulk pantry. You have children to provide for. You want the best nutrition for them and that does mean buying in bulk to keep it affordable. Not only that but I do believe that the supply chain is going to have issues due to the wars around the world. So there will be certain items that will be in and out of stock in the stores. Keeping some extra at home is smart. I find that if I have extra at home then I can wait for sales before I buy again. For instance butter goes on sale at Easter and Thanksgiving so I buy a few pounds and keep it in the freezer. That way I always save money when I buy it. It is an investment. I can't afford gold coins and stocks but I can invest in food and hygiene items that last a long time and that I will use. God bless!
Totally agree with you..not only do I do it for my own biblical reason but in order to help (being 68yrs) my children an other family members..plus now with prices skyrocketing I have a vas supply of items that now are doubled in price.I being a Gardner I can tons of food plus buying in bulk saves $$
Yes we should have stored food. When you talked about the manna from heaven that was when they went in the dessert and a different trusting in good. Yes God will provide - he also said trim your lamps and be prepared. Many points of view. Grew up with a large garden and we also picked fruit dropped for canning. Wild nuts and etc. But we do need to prepare. Have faith.
Hey Leah, i just found your channel. Im a new subscriber. I agree with you totally on everything you said. Right now we're having a very hard time. My husband was getting SS plus he was working. He got a letter from them saying that they overpaid him $6000 He had 30 days to pay it back. We don't have that kind of money. He talked to them about it. They were supposed to be taking out part of it. Instead, they're taking it all out for the next 6 months. Thats really going to hurt. Thats a little over a $1000 we wont be getting. We have a Sam's club about an hour away. We can't afford to go there. We also don't have a membership with them. I'm really trying not to worry about it. I wish we had more food or anything else so we could bless others. I love the shelves you have for storage. Thank you for being a friend and a blessing to me. ❤
I buy food in bulk when it's on sale and rotate . Oldest gets used first according to the best by date . I have experienced not having enough to eat and refuse to let my son go with out ! It's just common sense to be prepared for emergencys !
This was great. I enjoyed your Christian beliefs and I agree. God gave us a brain to think and do our part. He will be there for his children that trust and believe. Ty for sharing this. Your pantry is very nice.
I thought that in the beginning of my milling my own flour I was use my dry blender on my vitamix for the first year and then bought a nutrimil which I love. Making bread from freshly milled wheat takes practice and patients and the right recipe book try the essential home ground flour book by Sue Becker and not only will your bread be great you will love her Christian values and biblical bread references
This was a great video and I believe you put it very well on how you feel about it and I agree with you because I feel the same way and I know that God can use what you have to be a blessing to others when I shop I don't just shop for my household alone I shop. For whoever, may need some help. And I'm in a position to help out Maybe not always financially, but I can sure help feed you. So I look at that as a blessing and part of being a prepper. It's not just for your household alone. It's for whoever may be in need a family member or a neighbor because the Bible says we are helpers. Of one another God bless you.
Hi! I just found your channel and have been enjoying your content. I did the same thing you did. Covid hit and we found ourselves lacking. So I’ve spent my time since then building up my pantry with bulk purchases as well. I had to laugh out loud when you were talking about the wheat berries because I did the exact same thing. My mill was an attachment on my kitchen aide and it didn’t mill very finely. Someone told me to run the milled flour through two or three times to get it finer. It actually worked. I’ve since been able to purchase a free standing Mockmill and I will admit it was a huge game changer. But I used the attachment for a while and made it work. I also found two channels, Grains In Small Places and Grains & Grit. Both are excellent resources to learn how to use fresh milled flour. There is a huge learning curve I didn’t expect when I decided to mill my own wheat berries. Once I figured out the differences between using fresh milled flour and store bought flour I’ve not looked back. I actually gave a coworker a bunch of my store bought flour because I wasn’t using it at all. I fresh mill for everything now. I’ve learned I prefer Hard White, Soft White and Rye wheat berries. I’ve tried the ancient grains like Einkorn and Spelt but we were not fans of the flavor. So I’ve been adding small amounts into the Hard White for breads. I am glad I purchased smaller amounts of them. We are also not huge fans of the red wheat berries variety. Again, glad I didn’t purchase a big bunch of it. I make all of our bread products, including tortillas, so I was flying through flour. I’m glad I found a couple of channels that helped guild me along in the journey. Don’t give up! You’ll be really glad you pushed through!
Food is stored. Whether you store it or buy it in the store every day, someone is still storing it. We grow and raise a lot of our own food. We must store it to be able to have healthy food. Can’t get what we raise from the grocery store, so we must store it for a year.
I’m not Christian and I’m not from America (turtle island) but I watch endless videos about pantry stocking and food hauls because I find it fascinating. I’ve done a bit of canning and food storage over the years but I found the food never tasted as good in the future when I went to use it and many things got wasted. My youngest child used to say my freezer was just a time wasting step between dinner and the pig bucket or bin. Now don’t get me wrong., fresh meat that’s been frozen or food that’s meant for freezing was ok but my bulk cooking to freeze foods and leftovers freezing didn't go well when we wanted to re heat it and eat it. Also I see so much stress going on with pantry challenges and cost comparing . It’s a full time job . I’d rather shop as I need things and not be constantly trying to keep food in my pantry. Once we got a large whole food order and one of the items had weevils in (organic flour ) it destroyed the larder and I stopped buying in bulk. I’ve read about power outages where lots of freezers were defrosted and loads of meat abd expensive food was destroyed. My children have grown up now so I don’t need to buy so much . I keep a few things on hand in case of illness or other issues. But I’m totally over keeping loads of stock . We don’t have the fears that a lot of you in America have about food security. I guess we are a small country so nobody has to go far to find a shop. But I couldn’t live on a fearful way thinking a god told me to have food stored in case of a world problem. Maybe I’ll regret that when you guys have food and I’m starving. But I couldn’t live with that in my mind. I also couldn’t spend so much time worrying abd thinking about food and stocking up and re filling pantries 24/7. I fed my children organic foods, whole food and natural foods. I was lucky to be able to do that for them. But now I would like to see everybody getting a fair share of the food in the world , and I’ll leave my pantry semi empty.
Appreciate your perspective and thanks for watching. America has great food security right now and usually does. I think people are just developing a homesteading mindset because of greater global instability. I don’t think this is an American problem. ❤️ No living in fear, just common sense preparedness. God does not encourage fear, or explicitly command us to build large pantries.
@@leahrenata4820 you are wrong...we,usa, are facing a famine which is biblical. With the influx of foreigners coming in to USA and people on food stamps..we,as a whole, are in a famine. Not to mention, most food in the stores are NOT organic. Therefore the people are mainly eating food-like products and not REAL food.
I enjoyed your video. I think you will enjoy grinding your own flour.with a Nutrimill. You may want try the model that cracks wheat as well as mills wheat.
Great video! I love seeing other peoples pantry's and freezers. I also buy mostly all organic whenever possible and I stock up on things when they are sale or buy in bulk. Prices aren't getting any lower, in fact, just the opposite! I think it's smart to have at least several months worth of food stored up. I looked on Azure for the frozen peppers and onions but didn't see it, do you know if they still carry it?
Have you tried cooking your wheat and eating it like a hot cereal? Before I had a good grinder, when my kids were little , this was how I used my stored wheat.
I dont believe from a biblical perspective, but I was raised with food storage, have done it as an adult, and then the pandemic exposed how people that don’t store react when there are supply chain issues. No one I know who had slowly built a storage worried at all about panic buying. People who panic bought did so at the expense of others, with zero regard of everyone being in the same boat of scarcity. People who do food storage buy slowly over time during times of abundance so that they’re prepared for scarcity. So even from a purely humanistic view point, it’s better to take a little and keep when there’s a lot rather than take a lot when there’s a little, and personally I don’t understand how people lived with themselves if they were the ones going to the store and clearing things out during scarcity.
God also called for storing up to way lay famin in the land. We know in revelations that wheat for a days wage. I think putting some food on shelves is very biblical and wise.. If the Holy Spirit is cautioning you to get supplies than do so. If He has provided the funds why are you not doing as He has directed you.
Loved the video and the discussion towards the end. You mentioned that you use jarred pasta sauce for curries--do you have a recipe for that? That sounds wonderful. Thanks.
Noosa be here just wondering where do you source your elderberries from enjoyed your video very much I stock up and do a lot of home canning myself. I’m only one person but my children refused to stock up and I’m afraid if something would happen I wouldn’t have anything for my grandchildren so I’m just making sure.
You should keep the beef stew & sloppy joes for when your sick and don't want to cook. Seeing as everyone likes the food. I also bulk shop for myself and daughter and grandkids. It's better to have than not. Just make sure to rotate and buy what you eat.
No - although I was briefly when I first was diagnosed with autoimmune conditions. I added it back in once my body healed a lot, but do try to ensure my gluten products are organic and high quality. I feel it helps - but I also don’t have a true allergy. ❤️
I’d recommend you try sprouting your wheat. Not only is it about 2,000 times more nutritious, it’s way easier on digestion……and it tastes WAY better! Sprouting removes that earthy flavor which I don’t much care for.
I peel then blend in a food processor with a little olive oil. Use a cook scooper to put it on a parchment lined sheet and freeze, then move to bags once frozen solid. I have a short on this too :)
Modern transportation/agriculture/processing systems made it unnecessary practice. Until the systems started failing, and it has become necessary again.
I’m new to your channel 😉 I just watched my first video and I really enjoyed your content and way of doing things and your outlook on life 😇🫶🫶😇 and of course I subscribed to your channel 😁
