I am not aware of method to use a external spreadsheet to trigger application to change file or folder names in Bulk Rename. If you can write Javascript the Bulk Rename supports it so I suppose in theory you could create script and incorporate data in excel into script perhaps. I am not Java script person so I can not help with that.

You could use the filter (12) field. For example to only display for change those files containing snowmobile: Press Reset to clear out all fields back to default, In filter (12) section in mask field enter *snowmobile, unselect folder box, hit refresh arrow to right of mask field. Now only the files which contain snowmobile appear. To only show JPG files do above but enter *.jpg. Seems like you can write some complicated customized masks if you can figure out how to as it does not seem to be well explained. People on the Bulk Rename Forum might be able to help if you post what files you want to exclude from change or files you wan to include. It might take less time to scroll through files and select the 10 of 1000 than it would to understand how to create a unique filters mask.

The stupid app (although the best of this type) was the comment which cracked me up

@@MarcusGlass Thanks, I found that solution later. It's a useful app, but not very intuitive and not very well organized.

@@haydencallinan5386 Indeed it's a crackup. Although it solves a problem, the design of the app is bad and unintuitive. Those times when you had to study an app for several months (like Word) are gone. The world needs apps that are intuitive and easy to use. You cannot ask questions to the community every time you want to do something and the stupid app has it hidden somewhere.
