Yeah, as I recall he was acting in some Sci Fi series about a submarine? With Roy Scheider? I just pulled that from a distant memory from 20 years ago as I remember watching it a few times, could be wrong. Just remembered! He was also with Rodney Dangerfield in a hilarious scene in a changing room where he was pretending to be a girl soccer player, think the movie was called "Ladybugs." Shame he took his own life.
Sidekicks is a very touching movie, with good acting, chemistry between the actors, character development and re-watch value. Thanks for the recap (and the nostalgia)!
We lost a great young talent in Jonathan Brandis. He had severe depression and other mental health problems that went untreated. If you are having trouble, please get help. The only weak person is the one who needs help and refuses ro get it out of pride. We love you.
How did my 12 year old self miss this movie when it first came out? You got the kid from Neverending Story, Winnie Cooper, the wizard from Conan, the dad from The Wizard, Bull from Nightcourt, Rambo’s girlfriend and… CHUCK NORRIS ! Thanks for the recap!
Enjoyed this and the movie. The ending between Chuck and Kelly is hilarious. Always love seeing Mako. His voice in Ang, The Last Air Bender was touching as Iroh 👍
@guts264347 I totally agree with you, Jonathan Brandis was a good actor. I remember him in Seaquest DSV. It's such a shame about what happened to him. 😢
Thank you, Chuck👍👏🥰Showing that, age doesn’t matter!!! It’s like riding a bike or swimming, walking or the English language…you never forget your passion and who or what you are!!! Thank you for supporting, this young man and putting that arrogant child, in his place!!!
That was a good movie. One a few I watched as a kid. Bloody hard movie to find after 20+ years. Sidekicks was and still is a good film. Especially with chuck Norris in it.
how do you cope with growing/ageing in life? As I am growing old, I get scared that my life is decreasing and I feel scared. When I see comments like this or anyone mention about birthday, this death thought triggers even more in me, and I am fearful and worried about my parents too, when its their birthday.
@@darkpenink6730 The primary thing I would keep in mind is that so very many die young, so like... if you can make it to even 60, congratulations, you win. If you're lucky enough to hit 70-90 range, you can take great joy in knowing you had more time. The psychological rub is you need to find enough meaning and gratitude in the present, whilst not clinging to regrets of the past, and not getting lost in the future (which you will likely imagine under worst case scenario, or go the other way and just fantasize about what you COULD do, while never actually doing much of it). I'm rambling at this point but what I mean to say is: Physical death is scary, but inevitable and therefore something we should pay little mind to (unless it can benefit our lives in some way) but growing old is a massive blessing that translates to more time. Find sincere joy in your present and death will have a lesser strength. Oh and find people you click with, make friends and share such things.
"I'M the reason that CHUCK norris doesn't compete anymore, because I would KICK....HIS.....ASSSSSSS!" LOL, that Dojo sensei villain is so dam funny in this movie!
This movie changed my life, I was a lot like Barry as a kid, I saw this movie and took up karate. Karate changed my life in so many ways, from a kid who was told he would never amount to anything to so much more. I still practice karate today.
Chuck Noris and Jonathan Brandis! now that's a thing to be excited about. it so sad Jonathan Brandis DIED. please do more of his movie. sidekick and lady bugs with Rodney Dangerfield are my favorite of Johnathan"s 'movies. Sea quest was a great tv show. i also loved Devon Sawa, JTT & Andrew Kegan as a teen and preteen
Such a great movie, especially his instructor. Just so sad seeing Jonathan Brandis in his happier days. I loved him in seaQuest DSV. A bright star 🌟 with such a sad ending. :-(
Day dreaming has kept me alive. I am sensitive. Life for me was a struggle. Sometimes I think real life is my day dreams. I am Ellen, 72 and been through terrible health challenges. People are the actors and I am whatever I choose to be. Our imaginations take us everywhere.
Thank u for recapping this it is a iconic moment for a kid to go through the process of changing his life from a bullied kid to a Bruce Lee fighting kid.,💯
Man I remember when this came out. I was taking karate at the time, more so because of Karate Kid but this was one of my favorites anyway. Great movie. RIP Jonathan.
Has anyone ever had a highschool moment where they was bullied and then took up a fighting style and actually fought their bullies, and the bully was actually man enough to fight by himself?
I trained in 3 martial arts since the age of six even competed in tournaments. During high-school key was to avoid the fight and have composure over your anger. Not show off
Well honestly, as someone who was bullied in the past (I'm also a decently skilled fighter myself, however I was like a year younger than them because I skipped a grade which also led to me being the smallest) nope, I've never fought a lone bully. However, I did absolutely ruin the bullies (3 of them) when I lost my patience with them. After that I had to be transferred to another school because "I was endangerment to the other students". On another occasion (this is like 6-7 years later) my school was on a trip and my friend at the time (did I mention he was the #1 taekwondo fighter and I was the #3 taekwondo fighter nationally?) was getting bullied by kids from a different school, that ended in us fighting a 14v2 and we managed to defeat them. For the ones that will be telling me that fighting 14 people with 2 decently skilled taekwondo fighters isn't that hard. Please try it yourself
@@206beastman I didnt mean already knowing martial arts even before going to highschool. Of course by then you will already how to avoid alot of things. I mean being in highschool and then after being bullied, THEN taking up a martial art and getting back at the bullies.
@@hisamuslu9788 Honestly one of my friends who was a Pro mma fighter recently got jumped by 20 people even though he was beating 3 of them easily and he was nearly killed. Yall even fighting 14 people was a huge risk. I Box myself and honestly sheer numbers is a huge issue
@Bruce Wayne I looked up the video you speak of. Its sad seeing how the Bjj guy kept advancing when the other guy made obvious signs he wasnt trying to fight and was trying to keep him a distance. Only when he was on the ground he finally took out his gun and killed him. The Black belt did years of training only for him to get killed cause he wanted to use his art to dominate someone that was actually trying to keep them apart.
I was that kid. Daydreamed about beating the sht out of a few bullies. Took Ed Parker kenpo karate for 8 months and got my ass kicked by same bullies. I learned that reality is a thing.
this movie was awesome and still is😊😊😊 i day dreamed a lot not as intense but still. the power of dreaming and believing in ones self that was his ninja way.
I grew up watching martial art movies. My favorite martial art people are Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, Jet Lee, and Brandon Lee. I saw this movie when I was in High School and loved it, but it sort of like Karate Kid with a twist. I would love to see a recap of Rapid Fire and Enter The Dragon. I think everyone would love to see those.
@@kevinforeman4485 I know that it could not be duplicated, I was meaning I think people who have never seen the movie would like to know the story line by showing the movie and being told what was going on, so they can watch the full length film. Bruce Lee did an amazing job and no one could ever replace him in Enter the Dragon.
First thing, Macho was absolutely perfect in the role of the martial arts master. Second, Chuck Norris was a badass then and he's still a badass now! Side note. I saw a news story about a year ago where he actually promoted an 80 something woman to 5th degree black belt. It was a wonderful story to watch, and if you cared enough to watch this whole video, you should look it up. Incredibly inspiring piece.
I love this film I first seen it in school one day when one of my classmates brought it in for movie day. I do see some similarities to the Karate Kid & Cobra Kai. Barry is like Daniel LaRusso & Miguel Diaz. The reason why I brought up Miguel is because both Barry & Miguel have asthma not mention I see Mr. Lee being similar to Mr. Miyagi, while Randy is similar to Johnny Lawrence, as well as Mike Barnes, Ned Randall from the Next Karate Kid, & Kelly Stone is similar to John Kreese.
Well this story just mimics The karate kid I don't know who dreamed this up but whoever's ever seen The karate kid knows this is exactly like that movie wow what a genius
This movie is one of my favorite movies of my childhood during the '90's. I wish more people who know about Chuck Norris actually knew about this movie.
I remember watching this many years ago. I used to love all the martial art films back then. Even with where Billy Blanks was a bad guy, etc. Loved them all. Will have to search out and watch this one again. When you look at the overall storyline of this movie, it is very reminiscent of the original karate kid, starring Ralph Macchio.
Thought I'm alone, 😥 Fantasizing things that would never going to happen in real life. This makes me feels good, it even gives me goosebumps sometimes. At least in my dreams I get to have what I want.
These things are true. I didn't really know martial arts when growing up, but I just used a some moves that Chuck Norris and other guys used,to you fight bullies and it worked. Presently I studying a martial arts.
Thank yOu so much man you give me the chance to it watch a 2 hour movie but even if I watch a seen under 12 mins your that guy who explains all of it some how god bless tryouts and thanks
Very Inspiring about a young guy who wants to learn how to fight and Martial Arts is the answer thanks for sharing and seeing Chuck Norris the original Walker Texas Ranger
