Btw, Lebron wasn't on the weakside when Hamilton scored at 1:37, the ball was clearly on his side of the court which means he was strongside. I think you should switch when a team sets good backpicks, cause it's extremely hard to fight through. Switch and step-under might be your best move

Thanks for the vid coach, great insight. One question though - when you're watching these games at home, is the first thing you pay attention to as the ball enters the front court the sets being run (much like your breakdowns) with the players running them, and then the execution of said plays? Interested in picking your brain a little bit.

Great video as usual Coach! I just want to point out that from a numbers standpoint, Lebron has actually regressed in his post game. He's gone down from 1.043 ppp to 0.958 ppp. The main reason(s) are his turnovers when he backs down his man. He's giving away the ball 12% of the time, double the rate last year... He's deadliest facing up (which he's doing less this year probably to shut up his detractors) and should take advantage of that. However, he is posting up much more which is great.

Miami's defense is what triggers the game to speed up. It's pretty hard to play slow paced against them unless you're team has a polished system.

@QUIKKSTAR Agreed completely. It may not have shown in this game, but last year during the ECF it sure did. After game 1 the fouls went up double. You think the Bulls just decided to start fouling more? No way.

Im glad you pointed out that wade was probably out cause I didn't understand why they kept pointing out his left foot was in which had nothing to do with it. Also everyone keeps saying that if Deng played the Bulls would have won. Well that's is completely false. It would have been a totally different game and who knows what happens. This year the Heat lost to the Hawks with Wade - Bosh - and Lebron, but beat them with only Bosh. Last year we almost won with only Wade against the bulls.
@ButtZilla
@ButtZilla 12 лет назад
I am a Cheat fan but I really like the Bulls. They do miss Deng dearly because he's a great defender and good outside threat. If Boozer isn't clicking on offense then he should be on the bench because he's defense really suck at times. I really love Rose's drives but he needs a good consistent mid range game. Remember another 6 foot guard that owned any team he wanted to? AI! Good review Coach! =D
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 12 лет назад
@TheXtrmn8 I hear you - the pass had just gotten to his side. Either way, he's gotta help and take away the layup - give Brewer the shot - dude is shooting 7% from three point land his last 10 games...
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 12 лет назад
@kaseumsouk Yes - that is the challenge against them. If you can slow it down, force them into a half court game, they look vulnerable. Once James gets a good outlet pass, forget about it.

Looks like it was not only Rose and Lebron, but the refs that choked too at the end of the game. (Boozer being in the lane for more than 3 seconds on that rebound he scored on, Wade being out of bounds on the rebound, Rose traveling, and Miami stealing the jump ball).
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 12 лет назад
@exhaustedgnomes He WAS effective earlier, when he was shooting 50% from the field. Have you seen his numbers now? In his last 10 games, he's at 32% - 43% on the season. With his form, he'll never be a real threat...
@bozotheclown9

@rjcarless
@rjcarless 12 лет назад
@exhaustedgnomes he has shot better this year (32% from 3), but the only difference is now his shooting is "average" as opposed to "lousy". You still take a chance on a career 24% 3PT shooter when Rose, Hamilton, etc are on the floor.

the calls most of the time? his new-founnd aggressiveness is the best move in his career (way to late btw). also, like kobe and unlike mj, his ego can really make him lose some ball games. he is a team player, but his pride and conception of himself cant hurt him at times. oh and he chocked! d. (im i at d already?) loul was missing indeed. great breakdown. how about a vid of the starters to the allstar game? any thoughts about bynum or melo being there?

Coach youre wrong about looking at the rim. he DOES look at the rim but once the ball is released he looks at the ball in the air. ALL great shooters do that.
@RickGrimes807

I'm not worried either because the Bulls were about to win. They made a major comeback and it only came down to Rose's free throws. So it's okay.

if Boozer had some court vision in the last play... i mean it is not hard to know Wade would opt for Rose at the inbound leaving Himilton open for the cut; worse yet, he fakes the pass to hamilton and passes the ball to Rose...

@45tigers45 @jae2067 On sideline screen and rolls, the Bulls play ICE, where the screener's man is supposed to drop down and contain - so Boozer is supposed to contain him until Rose can get back in position.

No it doesn't. Let me educate you. Choking is being scared 2 do something or freezing in the moment, just because they missed some free throws doesn't mean they were scared they just simply missed them. You're welcome for this knowledge iHave bestowed upon you.
@bballbreakdown

@lammatt I don't think it's Spoelstra, but LeBron who's not confident in them - it's his decision to make what he does with the ball...
@0bluescrag0
@0bluescrag0 12 лет назад
@bucknasty250 If Lebron choked, Rose did, too. Within in the last 5 minutes of the game Lebron James had 4 Rebounds (one of them offensive), was 2-4 on free-throws, 1-3 shooting, 1 turnover, won 1 jumpball with the Heat gaining possession. Derrick Rose had 1 assists, 2 defensive rebounds, was 1-3 on free-throws, 1-4 on shooting. Miami was 11-9 in the final 5 minutes.
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 12 лет назад
@heyyy19 Once a shot goes up, the 3 restarts, so it wasn't really 3 seconds... But you're right on all those - looks like the refs weren't up for an intense playoff game as well...

LeBron James was just traded to the Florida Panthers. He should be wildly successful, since in the NHL, there are only 3 periods. I saw LeBron before the game and I asked for $1. He gave me 75 cents. I said where’s the rest? He replied i don’t have a 4th quarter.

when taj gibson had that block on lebron and lebron gets the foul call because he and like alot of stars so it becomes the superstar effect
@wannabeaballer41
@wannabeaballer41 12 лет назад
Why don't people understand the best way to beat Miami is through half-court offense? Look what the Mav's did in the Finals last year and Atlanta Hawks did this year? Having a slow paced game resists the temptation of a fast break. Once again look what the Mavs do against fast paced teams such as OKC.
@bucknasty250
@bucknasty250 12 лет назад
Rose didnt choke IMO. Before those FTs at the end he was 12/12. This season he is an 86% Free throw shooter so by the percentages he was going to miss 3 of his next 8. To choke is to "to lose one's composure and fail to perform effectively in a critical situation". I will agree Lebron did that on the last 2 drives but Rose didnt, he just regressed to his mean.

i just want to say how much better tibadou(idk how to spell his name) is then the spolstra. in the bulls last play, it was intended was for hamilton to cut after he passes it in. tibs knew wade would focus on rose, but gets bailed out for boozers poor mistake. noah was fouled out, but if he was in he would have made that pass like he did against the hawks. i cant defend boozer for his crappy game(again) lol. rose and lebron it ur free throws too

the bulls may need more reinforcement at the swing position in absence of Deng, and even when he comes back. May be they can waive one of their backups(James, Lucas) and get a backup swingman. Brewer is a good defender but an offense liability. He has improved his offensive game, but is still an liability by simple fact that the ball doesn't go to him.
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 12 лет назад
@T00NFR00B They should have at least used him to screen the ball...
@slickwillyization
@slickwillyization 12 лет назад
No Nick, Rip shouldn't have step in around that screen. He should have moved to the ball when it was passed and then dropped down in the paint. Had he stepped in around that screen LeBron/anyotherbasketballplayermakingabackcut would have had a layup.

C'mon coach you can't roll with the 'what ifs'. Let's also bring this into consideration that Wade did not play like himself. If he had this probably would have been a blowout. Deng was there last year in the conference finals. The only major difference between Bulls of last year and this year is the addition of Rip Hamilton. I don't see the Bulls beating the Heat this year. The Heat have had major upgrades with Cole over Bibby, the addition of Shane Battier who is an amazing defender.
