Coach Nick breaks down this riveting game, showing how Stan Van Gundy's team and gameplan are uniquely qualified to beat the Heat. By spreading the floor with shooters and rolling Dwight Howard hard to the post, the Heat have a hard time stopping them.

@RansomRobin No problem! We'll make sure to cover all the playoff teams as we enter the stretch run, so there will be another one for sure

Yeah, Orlando's concept was great. Best big man in the league with shooters. Problem is their shooters couldn't play defense and were wildly inconsistent.

@batuhankemalbakici Well, we choose our breakdowns before the game is played... and of course, today we're posting the OKC vs. Spurs game, so another Heat win we're not breaking down. We will surely do one of their wins soon...

@amramahi Since we just did Heat here, we won't do Heat Bulls, but we'll cover all the playoff teams exclusively during the stretch run. As for D'Antoni as an assistant - I think you're completely right!

Hey Coach! Thanks for your videos, i really love them!! Could you please do a breakdown of a Tim Duncan game in his prime? He's my favourite player, I think he's the greatest winner of the last decade and he deserves much more recognition for what he's done! Thank you!

coach, what do you think james jones needs to improve on to see consistent minutes? him, battier, haslem and miller are all 6'8. we all know he can shoot but he is their 10th man and usually doesn't get to play.

@OrganicShadow Yeah - I'd say Hero Mode is the same as Mamba Mode. Kobe is just so special, he needs a special name for it. Did you see Mamba mode tonight? Man, Gasol and Bynum combine for 20-26 and this guy shoots 20 shots and makes 3.

The fact that Lebron had that Houdini act in the 2011 finals will forever make "Lebron" and "clutch" in the same sentence an oxymoron. I mean he didn't reach double digits in one of those games. Biggest stage, greatest disappearance by a superstar...

This video is a good example of what I see all the time from Lebron before. (pre 2012 as to why people called Lebron "unclutch") His stats weren't that bad, but he didn't take that many opportunities (standing 40ft from the basket, bad passes, turnovers, bricks, passing the ball immediately after just receiving it at the beginning of the possession,etc.)

@TimCsbE He's got to be top 5 in the NBA - even though he's a little limited offensively, and a downright liability at the FT line, he not only blocks shots, but prevents guys from driving to the hoop in the first place...

@bballbreakdown The Lithuanian center Jonas Valanciunas is one of the European big men who plays this a lot. I think there is a youtube-video where he says that this is his favorite play. Maybe we'll see him doing this in the NBA next year. At the under-19 WC he was just dominating every one else. I'm really looking forward to seeing him play in the NBA although I think he needs some time to able to compete physically with the Howards and Bynums..

This vid makes some good observations! What do you think about the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks facing off in the playoffs? I'm inclined to think that the Knicks are just as qualified against the Bulls like Orlando are against the Heat. If possible, can you do a vid on the Knicks and Bulls?

Dang, what's up with all the hate? I don't see any bias or anything like that. He's calling the games for what they are and doing a darn good job of it. If somebody/team plays bad, he's gonna talk about it. The converse is also true. Can anyone even point out any examples of him being biased?

@Moggs24
@Moggs24 12 лет назад
I definitely agree that the magic are an uncomfortable match up for the Heat but I don't think they could stay with them in a 7 game series. Your also absolutely right about the Hero ball. This crap has been non existent for the whole year, but the last two games we are back to last season. Don't know what is up with wade he has been a ball stopper during this skid.

I don't think Coach Nick watches enough games of other teams to really know their capabilities. Probably because he's busy with his own life, but he still shouldn't make assumptions based on one or a few games.

@amramahi
@amramahi 12 лет назад
I understand you just did a Heat breakdown, but I wouldn't mind seeing another one if it's last night's game against Chicago. There were a lot of iffy calls on both ends of the floor and I'd like to hear what you have to say about them. Also, I think D'Antoni would make a better assistant coach specializing in offense, than a head coach.
@rocky12rullshard
@rocky12rullshard 12 лет назад
I hate that camera view of yours, it horrible. But good breakdown tho. Do you think there is a team in the west that can compete with Thunder? And what do you think about the Spurs, nobody realy expects a lot from them mostly because last year series vs. Memphis, but I feel like they can get far in the playoffs and suprise a lot of people including you. But I gotta see whats going on with those trades and all. D Fish isn't good enough but that trade still suprised me.

Hey coach I was wondering with the lockout season going on a lot of teams aren't playing to their full potential. For this reason I think statistics (Synergy) don't tell the full story about a player/team. In my opinion this season is about who has the most energy going into a game rather than who has the best strategy to win a game. I know you might disagree but I just want to hear your opinion on the matter of statistics.

yeah I mean I doubt he'd go to clippers but to answer your question that would be the next team IMO he could take all the way... blake and LeBron could compliment each other as super power forwards like MJ and Pippen, plus a good point guard to penetrate or assist.. man that would be a tough team to beat.

Why does your title single out Dwight and Lebron? It seems like you're analyzing the two teams not just Dwight and Bron. Good video but the title is misleading.
@colossalko
@colossalko 11 лет назад
From what I saw in 2009, the playoffs came down to the wire. games 1,2 and 4 were swing games. 3,5 and 6 were secure wins for the home team. Lebron was the reason why Cleveland stood a chance. Fast forward 2 years Later, Lebron has his only 50 point game as a heat vs ORL. Now go 1 more year. Hypothetically if Bosh, Drose, and Dwight were healthy, the Heat's run to the finals would have been much easier. I know it's easy look in hindsight but I'm not convinced Heat would lose to Orlando.

I agree lebron should be more aggressive in late game situations but when there is a wide open shane battier i would pass the ball as well rather than take a very very contested shot.

I hope heat fans understand that Dwight Howard is the only player in the NBA besides maybe Durant right now who can shut down lebron on a drive. I've seen lebron just stand around in games because his driving game vanishes with Howard in the paint so he becomes a jump shooter.

Even if the dont dont three-peat I still dont see him leaving. Pat Riley has proven that he can put talent around James and bulid a championship caliber team. Where else is he going to go where that can happen? Damn sure not Cleveland. There will never be a shortage of guys who wanna play with him in Miami. And its South Beach dude have you ever been here? Its beautiful down here all year round I cant imagine why anyone would ever wanna leave.

How do you rank Dwight Howard among the best players in the NBA? Guys on ESPN seem not to acknoledge his impact on the offensive boards and on defense. They rather take high volume scorers like KD or a Kobe in front of him. Would they switch teams it'd be over.
