even during that first half of the 95-96 season, Jordan said the bulls were still Scottie's team and that Scottie was still the best player in the league...that was astounding to me and Jordan meant that when he said it
The shot they show the replay of at 7:36 is one of the most amazing shots ever. High off the glass with touch facing sideways going towards the baseline.
PiP got so good behind the 3 line , and used the glass like no other ... On the 2nd 3peat 96 - 98 , PiP shoul had got "Co-MVP" with MJ every one of them
They played them well in the finals. If not for Rodman's absolute dominance in that series, that could have been a helluva lot closer. But I see your point. The fact that they could dominate a team like these Sonics speaks volumes.
That fall away after picking up the dribble and got the two step separation in the face of Shrimp......nothing but the bottom of the net (RIP CORD sound) @2:37 was crazy precision and vintage Jordanness! Then at the end of the quarter Payton slaps Jordan on the backside (as that showed sportsmanship back then) while he was bent over (never seen that scenario though) @ 2:40.(that was awkward ). Jordan and Pippen scored 23 of the 26 first quarter points for the Bulls....uuuhhh weee!!
Rem Pippen did not came into the league as a superstar he became an allstar in 1991 in 4th season in the league. Pippen grew into a star so don't grudge the bulls for having Jordan and Pippen he became a superstar for his everyday training with Micheal Jordan whose greatness rub off on Pip and inspired him to be a great player. Pip was not like he was a superstar on some other team then came to join the bulls rem pip only average 8 points game in his first season.
jordan finished with 35 points with 14/25,14 rebounds,5 assists. pippen finished with 29 points with 9/15,7 rebounds, 5 assists. i believe the first half of that season, pippen played the best basketball of his career, even better than in 94.he was in a state of grace.
He was shooting like 45% from 3 during that span. I've been rewatching alot of the 72 win season lately and pippen was looking like the most athletic player in the league
I believe he was shooting 50 percent from the field 40 in threes but I don't think you realize pippen ankle after the all star break started going bad and in the playoffs he was greatly affected by that he had to have surgery in the offseason on his ankle.
Im wondering if you’re an 80’s baby like me. The first sports game I ever remember watching was MJ in 85. I grew up in Orlando but did nothing but root for Chicago. I eventually worked for the Orlando Magic from 2004-2013 after college. I got to know Nick Anderson really well bc he would work events with me. He told me some awesome stories about him and MJ & Pippen. He mentioned they didn’t really like eachother, said they both just kind of put up with eachother. I think that’s evident with what they showed us.
People always underrate Jordan because he is THAT great. Even the description ignored his stats when he had 35 points 14 rebounds and 5 assists! We don't even pay attention to Jordan unless he is around the 50 point range. LOL! Society always loves an underdog story and ignores the guy who is consistently great.
Always wondered what game that shot by Jordan at 2:38 was from. They show it on some highlight videos from a camera right behind Jordan's back. Thanks for the upload.
I like the dunk at 7:50. It wasn't a typical MJ slam. He was probably expecting someone to go up for a block so he got up high and slammed it down with force. Reminds me of a great Lee Mayberry slam from 92-93.
I still remember the game when the Bulls got blown out by like almost 30 by the Nicks. I was watching the game on a Sunday during a double header. I couldn't believe it. The Bulls looked like they were lost but that didn't happen often that season.
there will never be a team like that again i cant wait till the bulls get another championship. i think they will be good enough within the next 5 years to get the next ring
Scottie , really , I don’t even know how The NBA committee missed how greatest player as you are , is important for future generations to know and learning, not only Michael Jordan , but to all teammates, why Chicago Bulls so successful to win back to back champions, is seem like Most of all Chicago Bulls teammates They all developed as a player, was the greatest team in all time , best team we ever seen, in that category Michael Jordan and Scottie P , was their both most valuable player in the NBA all time until these days
This was the last season that Pippen was really a great player. After the '96 season the injury bug bit him really bad an he was a shell of himself for the remainder of the 3peat.
