Here's a look inside Bungie Studios' motion capture volume, where we translate the script, through performance, into useable data animators can use to create Destiny's cinematics. #NathanFillionVirtualBodyDouble #WarlockMasterRace
@Red Jesus I understand the hate for the game but no need to call people "objectively wrong" for liking it. This game is an acquired taste, some think it's the best game ever and some think otherwise. Same with every other game out there.
Red I don’t think you are. They spent years continuing to update destiny and spent a whole year trying to fix destiny 2. I’m not sure if you know what effort means but... why would they spent a year on a game and come out with a gigantic dlc if there was no effort put into the game.
@Red And how is that? Since when can a random person on the internet speak for the community? The game is an acquired taste as I said. Some people like it, some people like you call it "hot garbage" no matter what. I don't know where you got your "factually speaking" from, but whatever you say, you cannot represent the community as a whole and act like you're right.
@Red Also if you really insist on calling the game garbage, at least wait until you've played Forsaken or at least seen videos of it. That is if you even actually play the game which most Destiny haters don't.
You’re the Cayde motion capture guy?? It’s really good thank you so much for doing this for Destiny!! You deserve just as much recognition as Nathan Fillion!
Your work at 1:31 in translating Fillion's vocal performance is beyond perfect. I'm curious if you studied any of his gestures from work in his previous roles, or if your body language choices are entirely based on the vocal performance? Either way, it's a terrific synergy.
Rishon Marrell great question! We (the cinematics director and I) came up with the physical life of Cayde based off of Fillion’s read, the cinematics’ pre-vis/story board and how I interpret the text. Cayde’s “thumbs up” started us down a fun direction, which was an in the moment bit of fun on the day. And thanks for kind words.
I love seeing actors in action. The way they have to pretend to be in a fantasy universe whilst also showing genuine emotion and facial expressions. Great work!
OMG. i was watching a video of the Vex Teleporter scene and i saw a comment i agree with talking about how fantastic Cayde’s body language was in that; and now look what appeared in my recommended! you are insanely talented and captured Cayde’s personality so perfectly, thank you so much for sharing this with us! i hope Bungie will release behind-the-scenes stuff like this themselves in the future bc i LOVE it.
@@bisonfunyuns4988 are you serious....you cant be serious....if you are then your assumption is wrong....infact the AR in AR-15 stands for the company that made it....ARMALITE RIFLE model number 15
@@bisonfunyuns4988 no, one of tge distinguishing features that differentiate an ar15 from an assault rifle is the select fire capability, ar15 is actually a sports rifle
This was truly a wonderful trip down memory lane, with the upcoming witch queen DLC and everything happening with Mara and Uldren it’s really awesome to see the masterminds behind destiny 2’s best character.
This is actually so cool. It’s always great to see the work behind the cinematics in games. I always thought it was just really good animation - turns out it’s really good actors too! Good job!
I would watch a movie that's just the Destiny cutscenes, but small and in the corner because the rest of the screen is the actors motion-capping. This is bizarrely fascinating. The movements of the NPC's in Destiny are so realistic, although it's fairly obvious why. It's still impressive.
Wow, I never knew who was behind this amazing mocap work. I've been playing Destiny since day 1 and Cayde was my favorite character hands down. And you were a big part of him! Kudos and thanks for your great contribution to such a massive gaming universe!
How have I only just been recommended this? Cayde in that scene on Nessus when he realizes what ghost said about Zavala is pure priceless, easily ranks one of my top Destiny moments. It's fascinating to see that one person does the voice acting, and someone else does the physical acting... what kind of planning has to go into a two-part performance like that? Also I suppose there have to be certain constraints when playing the Guardian and other characters, to avoid the armour clipping as much as possible, does that inhibit the performance at all or do they just worry about that when they clean up the mo-cap data? Awesome stuff though!
George Charleston Most high budget games nowadays use motion capture to film in cutscenes. Movies as well if your character is cgi like Thanos from Marvel
broooooo the entire time i was watching this i was goin dang this dudes so good like hes really animated with his everything and then i saw that this wasnt a repost or smth 10/10 my dude
Cayde-6 is Richard Edgar "Rick" Castle / Richard Alexander Rodgers, captain Malcolm Reynolds, John Nolan, Abe Dale, Hermes Bill Pardy, Sterling, Edward Buck from (Castle), (Serenity), (Firefly), (The Rookie) , (White Noise 2: The Light), (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), (Slither), (Cars 3), (Halo) Nathan Fillion
TheFallen Titan Guess they took Bill Gate’s advice to heart lol. To be fair though with the pressure on these guys by activision at the time I’m surprised they managed to put out the masterpiece that was forsaken, and what lies ahead in the next three expansions is really promising
Omg, this is why I don’t mind waiting for the next expansion even if it takes a year or two! In reality it takes a lot of time and effort to get it right, from the sound effects to the lines and body movements and at the same time, to make it eye catching and a mesmerizing experience for the players. Don’t get discouraged Bungie.
