Over the last few days I have grown to love these houses more and more and how my daughter Roxanne would have loved them. After almost 30 years of spending almost half of my daughter’s life in hospitals. I truly couldn’t even dream of a better place, or a more fitting, to make into a place where I, her mother and the rest of her family, could come to remember her. Where we could all still come to visit Roxanne. To sit and read her favorite books, her poems or just to talk to her, because she’d be right there for us too. It would be like walking into her room and having a sit down with her. Discussing how she was doing and all the family news. If you wanted to talk, she’d love to hear it. My Roxanne was an incredible woman, filled with wonder and grace. She cared deeply for everyone and every living thing and the love she had for her family was immeasurable. Her death was a shock to us all. Leaving all of us with so much left unsaid. So I think a place for Roxy family. A Bunkie. Would be a perfect place where we could all continue to talk with her. I can’t help but think how lovely it would be to make a Bunkie into a place where we could all come to visit her. Or to even spend the night with her, or maybe just sit and talk with to her, just as we did before. This little house would have been the perfect “safe haven” for my daughter when she was sick, just so she could reconnect with all the birds and critters she had always adored. I put my name in for the drawing of a free Bunkie. But it wouldn’t be just for me, it would be for all of us, who miss Roxanne and who loved her so very much. That sometimes we find it difficult to even breathe. I’ve never put in for a drawing like this before and I actually don’t think I could ever be this lucky. But this contest at least gave me something else to focus on that was So I have given it my best shot, just incase. Because someone has to win I guess. But having just the idea of the possibly of making a Bunkie to represent my daughter Roxanne life, was the nicest little dream that I’ve had in a long time. An imaginary visions of her memories and how we could preserve them with our own stories of her in her own little cabin we could all be a part of. P.S. I couldn’t help but notice the amount of pure love and respect this father has for his daughter, it’s so incredibly heartwarming. How he aways allows her to speak freely whenever she chooses to add to their descriptions of their cute little Bunkie house. God bless you all. 💙😊

So you touched on insulating the floor and ceiling - what about the walls? How was that done, and how does that work with the windows/sills/door/etc?

You guys should really offer an off grid package or accessories. Partner with some of these companies, I know here in eastern Canada anyone buying one would want a woodstove. But also you can get fairly cheap solar panels from Canada solar that would be a nice addition to any bunkie. Just a thought!

What a sweet off grid cabin start up. The Cubic Grizzley Mini is practical and perfect for these smaller bunkies. Good to hear Bunkies Life is going to carry these Quebec items. Check out Bob Wells RV Living. His videos try out many top items off grid rv's, vans, trailers and bunkies might need. Tried and true testing of useful items like ie: the Berkey water filter stainless steel system allowing a counter top industrial but attractive looking water drinking dispener. Medium would suit you Dan and they cost approximately $450.They attain 99.% filered of excellent drinking water. This is just one of the 100's of great items. Love the set up so far. Good job Dan. Evē you asked very interesting and positive questions, especially about the wine on a cows kind rug...it certainly cleaned up nicely. I have my fingers crossed for one of the 2022 Bunkies Life Grand Draw model. That would be awesome.🏠 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟✔

Hi, all! Just two cents worth of comment: I think the operative word in the title of this page is "You". I'm sure ONE person could live in a closet (as proven by those who have fallen down a well, or been incarcerated by any "notorious" prison or detention center, LOL). My point being, if "you" are actually "two"...or a family of FOUR who I've seen chat online about living in a bunkie, do your "feelings a favour" and go through the exercise of reviewing measurements, perhaps using string to see how big 10ft X 10ft actually IS...and then also imagine where the "stove", the "bathroom" and your galoshes are all going to fit into the grand scheme of things if planning a 4-season "abode". A wonderful private weekend getaway/hideaway for a couple is one thing; a postal address for a family of four is a whole 'nother smoke from spatial, financial, sanitorial and many other viewpoints! BTW, DON'T GET ME WRONG....... I LOVE BUNKIE LIFE!
@BunkieLife
@BunkieLife Год назад
You bring up some excellent points. Living in a bunkie is NOT for the faint of heart. And probably best for a single person or a couple that REALLLLLY likes each other's company.
@michaelscott356
@michaelscott356 Год назад
@@BunkieLife Thanks, David. It's fascinating to see how the visual appeal (i.e. SHEER BEAUTY) of Bunkie Life's product line can conjure up visions of an idyllic existence. Far from pooh-poohing the "realm of possibilities" a bunkie conjures up (even at age 75, I have dreams of moving off-grid to a cottage on the edge of 2 acres of mixed bush) we, somewhat unfortunately, have to manage expectations. I hope the Winter Sale is going GREAT!
@BunkieLife

@@michaelscott356 I agree! About 85% of the time when approached by a "Tiny House" person, I'm trying to delicately talk them OUT of buying a bunkie. For the right person though (Dan and a few dozen others) it's a perfect solution.

At this video's minute 9:15 you can see daylight coming in from the end of the roof at the top of the wall and also the end of the center roof beam. Earlier videos stated that your beam joints were designed to ensure there were no gaps to allow light or weather into the struture through the beam joints. This video shows the contrary. Can you explain this? Thanks.

This particular model was a 2018 bunkie prior to us getting the Bunkie Life Factory. Dan told us he sealed up his bunkie with some PermaChink Energy seal and no longer has those little gaps. It is still recommended to use sealant if you're trying to get closer to "air-tight"
@torontopuppies7873
@torontopuppies7873 8 месяцев назад
Okay, thanks for the advice. Does this issue arise with the newer models too? Thanks.@@BunkieLife
@BunkieLife
@BunkieLife 8 месяцев назад
@@torontopuppies7873 It really depends on how careful people are with the roofboard instulation. We usually use permachink energy seal if we want it AIRtight in those seams as it's tricky to get it perfectly.

I'm interested to know more details as to how Dan built the foundation (platform above the ground, with insulation) and also, why does Dan recommend using slats under the loft mattress?
@BunkieLife
@BunkieLife 2 года назад
I think it's just on deck blocks raised up a bit, I think the slats help get the matress up off of the floor, but without losing too much headspace.
