California is supporting the rest of the country through its taxes, maybe getting 60 cents back from the Feds for every $1 it sends in. Most of the welfare states who get more than they pay in are Republican run. So yes, let's build a "tax wall" to keep some of that money here to address the homeless crisis.
California is wealthy not because of Democrats in the government, it is because of the businesses, entrepreneurs, and rich kids there. If anything, Democratic governors and mayors are driving the state into a hell hole, and these wealthy people are going to leave the state and go elsewhere. Just do a google search about the exodus of Californians...

I lived in a van for two years in the bay area all because of bad decisions on my part. The difference between these people and myself was I understood it was my own fault. I showed up every morning at 5:30 am at labor ready and took any job offered. I never asked for or received any government assistance in all those months. I managed to get enough money saved to get my own place in that time and move on with my life. I understand the mentally ill being stuck in this situation but they are a small percentage. The majority of the homeless are lazy,drug addicted or alcoholic.

I have been to Ethiopia 8 times and plenty of experience with their shanty towns. Africans dont have human waste strewn about the place and the drug issue isnt what it is here. They are worried about food not drugs. To compare shanty towns in Africa to America's is an insult to poor Africans and that is no exaggeration.

Every landlord has faced this. If a tenant or anyone else put trash on your property you are the one fined for it, every city does this and it needs to stop!

We can deport every immigrant in the country and home prices in California will still be one of the highest in the nation. The city has allocated around 2 million dollars to build a shelter for homeless teens. There will be 20 beds and 20 teens can stay there for 10 days before getting kicked out and another 20 moved in. This is their answer to the homeless situation. Bravo Oakland! What an amazing solution! So whose pocket(s) does the 1.99 million go into?
Exactly. They should have to pick up their own trash. Maybe the city can put out a dumpster and they can dump their trash. Also, they should clean their own toilets. And no money when you arrive. No money for living like that at all. Set up a soup kitchen a mile away so they have to walk to get food. This could prevent more from coming and those that are there to seek employment. And when someone overdoses they die. Then the city can dispose of their body and their tent. One less homeless to mess up the city. I clean my own home. I pay my own bills. I also have to take out the trash and I pay taxes to the city I live in to have trash pickup.
The rent hikes, more than 4%, are way out of line for average working people, paying 1500.00 a month for a 1 bedroom is outrageous especially for those on fixed income who can't cut any more luxuries out for a hike of 150.00 more monthly. We've already cut all of the fun stuff out, so what's the point of living just to pay the rent ? ? ?
The city of Boise decision says you can’t cite people for “sleeping” in a public place, it doesn’t say anything about whether they are allowed to pitch tents in perpetuity on public property. So tired of the law being misstated and then relied upon to push partisan agendas.
