Just remembered when Gainan told Picard in the TNG "Best of Both Worlds" as they prepared to fight the Borg that the Federation would survive as long as enough of them survive to preserve the spirit of the Federation. If this does not represent the spirit of the Federation, then I know what does.
These scenes are the reason why I want my son to listen to Star Trek some day. We need that kind of thoughtful and optimistic messages right now (and gosh we could also use some Carl Sagan also). If there is one thing that failing democratic governments throughout the world and the global pandemy have teached us, is that we are nothing without each other. And that when all else is lost, the future still remains.
This is what Starfleet, the Federation and Star Trek is in the end. A nation of true believers. No matter the time, hope is the most important thing to have in times of darknesses.
It's actually an old Roddenberry theme. Remember Andromeda Ascendant, before that Genesis II, Planet Earth, and Strange New World. Only difference is that it's not Dylan Hunt and not the Systems Commonwealth or Pax.
Discovery at times like these is like Star Trek poetry. Maybe sometimes it doesn't make absolute, exact, 100% sense? But the FEELING is there, unmistakably.
I've been here since I was a boy, with William Shatner...these moments are Starlight on a dark night is someone life. To me it's the reason for asking the questions which ....may, some day take us where no one has gone before. Although I know, that for now, we may not venture far..
Yeah, the real world is depressing isn't it. Society seems to cater for the selfish and materialistic facets of our nature, instead of the cooperative, scientific, logical and explorative facets. The pandemic should demonstrate, encourage and celebrate the importance of the latter facets, but I doubt it will.
One thing that would make this scene even better is if we hear the classic Trek theme when the flag was raised. Regardless, this is a lovely scene. Excellent acting, powerful and hopeful message, and sets up what seems to be an interesting story.
nah. nostalgia bait when the entire season is set 1000 years in the future doesn't fit and would seem cheap. they know they can play that melody any time and get star trek nerds tearing up.
I dont watch this show but he JUST said a COMMISSIONED OFFICER could raise the flag. Then I heard her make him a CHIEF. Can someone correct me if I'm mistaken. I don't think she understands it OR I don't understand it
Ok, can anyone please tell me what this pull up for precise seeking crap is about? I'm really getting fed up with seeing it, and if it continues, I may just delete the app from my phone! It's ticking me off big time!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Hes not a fully commision officer before burnham appointed him to be a one because the federation mostly collapsed after the burn and they cannot go that far from other quadrant and only remnant remain
