Today is a long day - we're finally getting around to burning our brush pile with the help of our Kioti compact tractor, fixing the fence, restocking the wood stash with splitting wood and boiling another round of syrup!
Thanks for following along on this journey as we bring this abandoned farm back to what it used to be 200 years ago and more!

My two favorite “B’s”, brush and burning! I love to burn, very therapeutic! With snow on the ground I let it burn through the night! But you have to have your piles covered with a tarp before any snowfall to keep them dry. It makes a glorious burn!

I agree! We have strict times we're allowed to burn. 10am-4pm which is annoying.

@@Curtis1824 Yes, we used to live in MA 7 years ago, we were their for 17. If I need to burn in the summer I wait until its going to rain (have the pile covered again) light it up and burn as much as I can before it goes out. You have a lot of brush to burn, me as well. I will be generating a lot more this summer!

@@newhampshire-bob1604 I have more to burn than I know what to do with! You got a grapple for your tractor right?

How do you know when the sap is done boiling and syrup is good to go?
@Curtis1824
@Curtis1824 Год назад
I boil it outside until it gets close to 218 degrees F. I take it inside and boil it on the stove until I hit that 218 mark. Depending on your altitude, once you hit that the syrup is usually done.

Any advice on which type/brand of grapple would be best for us? Thanks for watching and following along on our journey!! Be sure to subscribe for future updates and projects on the farm with this link bit.ly/2YWNN7T
