This is amazing… I literally was about to get a brain scan because I’m extremely mentally exhausted.

Thanks for the comment - I hope you've been able to prioritize and allow you body to rest and recover. Sleep, nutritious food, lots of water, and then all of those tips for completing your stress cycles. That's essential, and then you can start working on the mental narratives portion!

I'm very happy to hear that it helped so much! I'm working on a book about burnout recovery and this is great encouragement to get that across the finish line. Wishing you well in your own journey - be kind to yourself along the way!

Been struggling with the fact that this anxious depressive fit may actually be burnout. This is the first real resource I've found that lays out steps to recovery. My therapist just said "self care, do what you want to do instead of what you feel you need to do" which isn't necessarily wrong but I felt like I wanted a little bit more presence and granular guidance in the moment.

This is truly wonderful. I've recently realized I've been waiting a year to recover from burnout, after transitioning from one position at work to another. I saw a post that it takes longer, and more work, to recover than some believe, so I set out to find ways I can _actively_ recover (instead of sitting back and waiting to feel more connected to, and less overwhelmed by, my work. Watching your video, I wrote down so much and I cried. I'm beginning my true recovery journey and I can't thank you enough for all that you've shared here. It's truly a healing-catalyst 🙏🏽❤️

I’m a full time carer for my mother with Dementia and I’ve gone through all these stages and I know my thinking is irrational I’ve cut off my family and friends and my blood pressure is gone high for the first time in my life. This is a great video to share with my family to show them the stress I’m under.

Thank you for your presentation. It's the best I've seen so far. I am struggling over a year with severe burn out now. I've been self-employed designer all my adult life and its really challenging for me to build a new, healthy relationship with everything I do. I will take your step-by-step template (and I am planning to stick to it. :)) * merci!

This was one of the best organized and most concise presentations on burnout recovery I’ve seen recently, which is important, because people with burnout like myself have short attention spans. Truly brought some clarity. I’ll check out the resources.

Good info, however around 49min you talk about vacations and stuff, but if you’re burned out those aren’t possible anymore.

I can definitely empathize with the challenges that arise in dealing with being burned out. The idea is to start to take action, any action, which can enable your body and brain to start to rest and recover. Unless you alleviate the stress, you won't be able to recover from burnout and it may get worse. While taking time off is a really good idea (even if it's a full weekend off, or 1 personal day), you can also start off with things that can reduce stress, like 1) deep breathing exercises after waking up and before going to bed 2) stretching/yoga 3) going for a walk at lunchtime or after work 4) spending time socializing with other people 5) watching standup comedy or singing loud to music in your shower or car Start with 1 action there and commit to it for a week. Then add another and one more, and then maintain them and eventually when your stress is reduced some, start working on the mental narratives side. I also put together this self-paced recovery guide to help people who are struggling on their own: www.gabekwakyi.com/the-musing-mind-infographics/burnout-recovery-tips-part-1

I've been hovering around stage 5 burnout since my husband passed away in 2018. I was burned out after caring for my husband for 14 years. I honestly don't think I've ever recovered from that. I had three jobs that I leapt into full blast, and burned out from each. I do need help. What can I do? My psychiatrist only has 15 minute sessions, and they just lost their last therapist. One of the biggest groups in this area - and they have zero adult therapists, and two child therapists. My burn out narrative is: I'm broke and I can't even afford a movie ticket.

This is so well presented and clear to understand. It is easy to tell you have put a lot of thought into this and speak from personal experience. It is also very helpful for the many people who have reached this stage, and for those who have cared for a loved one for many years, and that loved one then passes away. A video would be invaluable to those of us who now have ME/CFS as a result of burnout, as physically they cannot do all that is suggested here. Thank you so much for this. ❤️

I feel like you have been peaking in my windows 😂 This is an excellent synopsis! As soon as I start to dig myself out I begin to start working flat-out again, a vicious cycle. The insomnia is worse, currently 2 days without sleep, withdrawal from other people / social relationships less immediate family etc. When I am with them I am irritable and exhausted. It’s like a compulsion because I do love working and I have 2 gears 10 or 0. These seem like practical solutions albeit difficult for workaholics to admit and make change’s without a valiant effort.

Im very deep in burnout. Had to take an emergency 2 weeks off before i had a mental breakdown. I'm at a point i just dont care anymore. If i get let go it would likely be a good thing. I need a considerable amount of time to rest and recover.
