FG stands for Fine Guitar company. Burny's were made in Korea by the Fine Guitar company for Fernandes up until 2008 after which the FG company moved production to their new facility in China.
I’m in England and own 2 Burny Les Paul’s, a Goldtop with P90’s and a 3 Pickup Black Beauty Custom with Bigsby. Both are incredible guitars for the money! Had planned to upgrade the pickups and pots etc but they both play and sound great so haven’t got around to it yet! Will probably put some Lollar’s in the Goldtop and Dimarzio PAF 59’s in the custom when I eventually get around to it! Have owned a few Gibson’s in the past and these compare very favourably!
I have a '78 Greco EG-900, those higher end Grecos from the late 70s and early 80s are fantastic. Same with Burnys and Tokais of the same era (Japanese made). I bought mine in Japan and brought it back with me on my flight, didn't even have to check it, they treated it as carry on if you can believe that (came with the original case). I paid $450 in 2005 (still have the receipt in the case) which is insane for the quality of guitar it is. I remember playing a Greco EG-1200 in the same store which is theoretically a "better" guitar, but it didn't sound or feel as good to me. Would have been a better investment just due to resale on the model number, but just wasn't as good of a guitar, IMO. I also played a EG-1800 in another store, really great guitar (which would have been an even better investment to have bought), but that was a case of diminishing returns. I kept going back to the EG-900 as the better buy because I buy guitars to play, not sit in a case. For the money, the EG-900 was just an amazing deal on an amazing guitar. Still love my Greco EG-900 17 years later. BTW, the number in the Greco models was the price in Yen at that time, so my EG-900 was 900 Yen in 1978, which when you look it up is roughly $1,050 today. Shortly after I returned from Japan I started chasing Grecos, Burnys, Tokais and Orvilles on ebay, all from the late 70s to early 80s (Orvilles were more later 80s). I basically bought direct from Japan and resold them for a while. The Grecos were always my favorite, though the lower end models were nothing special. OK guitars, but, no wow factor like I had with my EG-900. If I were buying one today like on ebay or reverb, I wouldn't look at anything less an EG-700. They had a John Sykes model which if memory serves me correctly was an EG-600 or 650 (Mint Collection). Way cool looking guitar but the one I had just wasn't that great, just moderately OK. I've also had a 700 which I thought was a better guitar and a 1000 and 1200. So they were kind of hit and miss in my experience if you can't play them before buying. Burnys were kind of hard to get the higher end models, but the higher end ones are very good guitars. Tokai higher end guitars are the best, IMO, but you've always paid for those. Grecos were the real sleepers from my experience. Orville By Gibson were really great as well. Orville were OK but nothing fantastic.
@@megatodd707 nothing in that area Iam dealing with my Kramer special and one of those MIJ guitars just bugging dings and dents and try to match the blue pearl burst
If this was a made in Japan Burny the top wouldnt be a veneer as it is here, which the Chinese ones are made with, it would have a solid top instead the same as all Gibson LPs. It would also have a nitro finish if it was a Gibson rather than a poly finish as we see here. Chinese Burny's can be purchased for a lot less than $600 secondhand in the UK because they are freely available on sale here new and 2nd hand because we are beyond the reach of Gibson litigation. The one you have was for release in the Japanese market originally. The ones for export (except for the usa where they were never sold new ) had a dimple at the top of the middle of the headstock.
Made in China but looks more realistic than the most expensive Epiphone Les Paul. Maybe they should make the Epiphone where they make those Burney guitars.
Well, its like this ,Ive built and repaired lots ,? dont get it ,Nobody can give one good reason that is the truth, Why a Gibson is a better guitar than Any $to 500 guitar. In fact Ive worked on gibsons that should have never left the factory.
