You can't say the Bengals aren't trying to improve their line. They traded back to get Cordy Glenn and then draft Billy Price (who turned out to be terrible but still the pick was made to improve protection and blocking). Then they drafted Jonah Williams who was the best lineman out of last years draft who unfortunately went down to injury, and drafted Michael Jordan as a rotation guy and someone to fill in when injury strikes. We're a small market team not strong enough to compete for marquee free agents, but at least the o line weakness is identified. There's enough talent around him to be somewhat optimistic as well with Green, Boyd, Ross (again when healthy), and Mixon.

I will concede he has become more injury prone in recent years, but it must be difficult to muster up the motivation to rush back to a 2-14 team. Hopefully he can return to health because when 100%, he's an absolutely elite receiver.

@@zacerhold3188 They've only made the playoffs seven times in 2000's so far and they haven't won a playoff game since the early 90's, outside of maybe the lions they have the worst ownership in the NFL, an offensive minded coach who doesn't know how to use his weapons, all of their best players outside of Joe Mixon are most likely to retire soon and they have one of the top 3 worst offensive lines in the league. And with the cheap owner Mike Brown overseeing things they aren't gonna get any better anytime soon, he just won't spend the money to make his team better cause he doesn't care about winning. They're replacing the browns as the bottom feeders of the league, mark my words.

There are two other quarterbacks who demanded to be traded as the number 1 pick of the draft and they have TWO SUPER BOWLS each. John Elway and Eli Manning. Elway already in the HOF, Eli probably will be enshrined into the HOF as well. Joe Burrow is good enough to control his own destiny!

Burrow's best bet is the owner in Cincinnati's owner dies. At 84, he is not going to last much longer and if he does, he won't be coherent . I work a lot with older people and around 84, they will degrade fast and I mean within a year.

Watch zac shomlers @strong opinion sports video on this. Carson palmer was a fantastic QB who came into cinci to turn around the organization, but it wasn't possible. Mike Brown acts as a gm and the Bengals are a team that cares about business before super bowls. A QB that has potential in the NFL can only do so much to change an awful organization. I think people expect a QB to turn around awful organizations because in other places that have everything they need to win but a quarterback then get a good QB start winning. The Bengals wont get to the promised land as long as Mike brown is the owner.

Dalton is not a below average QB and his numbers would be better if he were on a better team. The Bengals never made the playoffs in over a decade before Dalton got there. Burrow isn't going to solve their problems either. It isn't a QB problem, it is a franchise problem that the Bengals have.

"The team they [the Bengals] beat doesn't exist." The Houston Oilers rebranded as the Tennessee Titans. It's still the same team for record-keeping and so on. (Unlike the Ravens who stopped being the Browns when they moved, with the new Browns assuming the original Browns record.) It would be correct to say the team the Bengals beat in their last playoff victory has a new name and city, still pretty dramatic for highlighting the Bengals' league-leading playoff win drought.

If I were a GM for Cincinnati, I would call Carolina and see how much I can get with the #1 pick. If I can get their 7th pick in the first round, their 38th and 69th picks in the second and next year's 3rd pick, I'd save myself the trouble of dealing with the uncertainty with Burrow.

There's a difference between bad teams and poorly run teams. Poorly run teams can never be good even with good talent because they don't know how to best utilize the talent. Colin's point is that the Bengals are a poorly run team so they will never be good until they get new management.

Elway had baseball. Eli had Rivers behind him in the draft (and the Giants gave up another first, a 3rd, and a 5th for the switch out). A better analogy would be Bo Jackson. Is Burrows ready to sit out the year because it sounds like the Bengals won't be trading? Also with the rookie salaries being slotted, he will lose 2020 salary and probably have a lower salary next year when he slides in the draft.
