What a life this man has experienced! I think he is a great actor who deserves the accolades he has been given, and this interview shows a side of his character and intelligence that we would not have seen otherwise. Thanks for posting this.
Always fascinated me this guy, could tell he was a tough guy in real life and his face alone tells a story. Would have liked a more structured story telling though, this was all over the place. Might do some more searching now that he’s popped up on my recommendations
03:44 Chinatown. The best LA Noire film ever made, & one of the best films of its decade, 2nd to Rocky of course. Burt Young had great supporting roles in some of the best films of the 70's.
I actually met him on 5th Avenue in NYC in 1997. I was listening to the "Rocky 4" soundtrack on my CD player at the time & I stopped Burt Young & showed him what I was listening to & he got so excited that he have me a hearty hand shake & we both parted ways, both with a big smile on our faces. REALLY NICE GUY, totally approachable, never pushed me away or said anything out of anger or awkward. God bless Burt Young.
I met him at Shetler Studios in NYC around 2002 (?).I was on my way to an audition. I was late and the elevator took forever. Finally, I it came, I jumped in, and "Paulie" jumped in right after me. I was stunned because I love the Rocky series so much, and here I am with Burt in the elevator!!! I said, "Hi, where are you going?" He said, "To an audition." I then said, "Me, too." The doors opened and just before he exited, he kissed me on the cheek. I was speechless, starstruck, because I loved his character!!! Well, here I am, an American black woman, had just turned 50, - me and Paulie in the elevator! BTW, I did not get the part! Nevertheless, I got the kiss and the memory! The loony lefties and the feminists who might read this will say, "You should sue him for sexual harassment!" Not me.
He must like trains. I just missed meeting him on Caltrain back in the '80s, I think he was on his way to the track at Hillsdale, my buddy got to say hello, and I heard he had a real TOMATO on his arm.
@@seekn.destroy4064 not yet bitch, lol. Did you know Robert Blake tried to contract Mr. Young to bump off his then wife? Lololol....sorry, I'm still laughing.....true story.
I never knew Burt Young was a boxer. His character in the Rocky movies was phenomenal. God Bless you Burt, I hope you're living a wonderful healthy life.
Burt young such a lovely humble guy, and his portrayal as Paulie in the Rocky series is such a brilliant performance, he adds a realism and hardness to the part as the overpowering overprotective Brother of Rocky's love interest Adrian, Paulie is just one of the many perfect ingredients that makes the movie ROCKY such a great film on many levels
100% . Sadly watching Rocky movie reactions these past few years has really made me realise this current generation dont understand the Paulie character at all, it's really a shame. The only ones that seem to get him are the older reactors. I think part of it is because alcoholism has dropped a lot since those days so theyve never experienced that type of person irl , and the need to 'be a man' isnt such a thing anymore so they dont understand the pressures he was under. Really he was depressed and an alcoholic that needed help and support and a good woman. Rocky helped provide most of that and brought him up with him. And his best friend becoming his brother in law really is poetic. Just a shame he didnt meet a lady in his twlight years, but maybe that would of been too disney for Rocky.
I directed (1st AD) Burt in a really terribly written horror film in Phoenix back 2006. I adore Burt, such a sweetheart of a man. I hope I get to work with him again in a REAL film one of these days soon. Love ya Burt!
Exactly. ....Sly made Burt into a nobody and a bit of a bum in the Rocky films......in real life Burt would have beat the shit out of Sly and probably everyone else on the set.
Burt Young know as "Paulie" In Rocky would never have been such a great movie without you. You helped Make Rocky Big Burt. Thank you also for entertaining us with your nasty attitude in Rocky when you said. You wanna see this turkey Fly? LOL And threw the Turkey out the back door. That was the best funniest scene ever Burt. That was pretty crazy Burt and had me laughing years later over that one scene. You did awesome Burt. We all love you
He lives a very normal life God bless him I think he has a few dollars he should be worth millions not these actors today he was a true blue champion he was a great actor and I wish him the best
@@vincenttorriojr.9405 his net worth is 2 million aint much but its still a lot to us regular folk and he lives comfortably. No need for a huge house and cars when you can just do what you like
Burt lives in my wonderful childhood town of Port Washington, L.I. NY! It’s a VERY affluent part of the country. Titans of industry and entertainment have lived there. Including me 😎 You can meet Burt just about any Friday or Saturday night and any of the local popular bars and restaurants in town. Very affable man👍🏻
Such an genuine person. Peculiar yet registers in his unique way. Reminds me of my uncle who passed a couple of years ago. Definitely was a tough man to read but as time went on, you realized he had a heart of gold and wore his heart on his sleeve. Very much enjoyed this video. Burt Young, a class act.
He's one of life's special people,.....when you hear people like Burt young and Sylvester Stallone talk you just realise how humble and grounded they've remained despite great success in their lives,.....they have a warmth and a respect for all things good and humility...... Great human beings
My wife and I where on our honeymoon when we met Mr.Burt Young on the Isle of Capri in December 2001, he was walking with a small group of people including the actor F.Murray Abraham, he came across as a kind and down to earth guy.
All the greats are aging. Beatty, Nicholson, Pacino, De Niro, Young, Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Pesci, Dunaway, Streep, Fields, and on and on. All in their 70s or older. Even guys like Hanks and Washington are in their 60s. Same with music. Classic bands from the 60s and 70s. They're all in their 70s or older. Then what are we going to be left with? ZERO, thats what.
It's the evolutionary process my man it's called life things have to move forward we were lucky to have all the greats of our time the next generation will have theirs that's the way it goes, but I always revisit all the great one's in all the great films👊
Few months ago l saw and shock his hand in a rite aide store in Hollywood . Hell of a nice guy . Guys like him are like 57 chevy , they don’t make them any more .
Burt, so many people in your life, so many influences. Your life was enriched by them, but you also enriched others. You probably are aware of how big a influence you were on so many people. I can't imagine Rocky without Pauly. I could list the times, the moments you created that was gold. I just want to say, thank you.
damn! I never knew his boxing career, boxed with Mahammed, 17-0 as a Pro , hell most don't even make it to Pro, and was trained some by Customato. Holy shit, never knew all that
"I'm tired a 'ya hangin' around like a freakin spider!" "Ya want da bird?, Then go in da alley and eat da bird!" These two lines and that scene had me howlin'
He such a good actor. Away from Rocky I remember watching him in the Amityville horror 2, the possession. I hated him so much in that film, but it was testimony to his acting. Underrated actor for sure.
I rarely cry at anything but when they showed rocky visiting not just Adrian's but also Paulie's grave that really got me going! To know I'd never see him in a rocky movie again was heartbreaking
when did he pass? does anyone know? this world is getting more and more unrecognizable with so much of my beloved memories becoming chapters of the past, it's very lonely.
