Anyone else got teary eyes watching this? Stallone created a character loved by so many. Here we are 40 years later, still Loving every second of the video. Great work by Mike. Great tour, very knowledgeable and he can recite the lines! Yo!
I get teary every time. Not only were these films inspiring, but growing up in Cleveland, all my relatives lived in Philadelphia, and we went almost every summer for vacation. I used to go back as an adult, and always went on a walking tour of all the historical sights downtown!
Yes, to answer the question, yes I do. I was born and raise in this city that was great to be part of but now it has changed so dramatically that I can’t believe what it has become. But that’s a different story. Anything that pertains to any Rocky movies it sets me back to my childhood. And yes there was some great memories. Thank you to the people that put these clips together and I appreciate you very much
Grew up in Philly every time I drive by the Art Museum I see somebody sometimes a lot of somebody's running up those Damm steps. Without fail. I give Stallone a lot of credit. He really created one of the most endearing characters in movie history.
My dad and I took this tour with Mike Kunda last summer and it was one if the greatest experiences ever. I'm sure we could have Googled the locations, but we felt like Rocky was giving is the tour. The Rocky knowledge that Mike has just added to the fun. I will never forget that day. Keep up the great work Mike. If we are ever In Philly, we will take the tour again.
wouldn't someone think by now after 40 plus years, sly stallone has filmed 6 films in that city( rock 4 wasn't filmed there at all) the city of brotherly love would name a street in stallones honor? stallone st..rocky road,...balboa blvd..? it's the least the city can do for all the tourism the Rocky saga has given to the city..it's past due..
I know..i love the statue..but why not name a street for sly?..he clearly added new business to the tourism in phillly and the museum..sly is good for it.5 rocky movies and now creed 2 will make 7 rocky movies filmed in that city..the statue is great..but why stop there?
Seen 100 year old grandmas running several miles. You can run if you really want to. Just need to practice by working on your cardio. Start by walking as much as you can and eventually jog. Before you know it you'll be running.
chris52lad Yo, Don’t worry bout it!!!! lol 😂 They were probably from K & A, just joking. The Legend Lives On! Great 👍 job I’m from West Philadelphia 62nd and Callowhill the Home Of Jim’s Steaks 🥩. Jim’s is gone but the legend lives on!!
Mike Kunda you are a spitting image of rocky my friend, the best Rocky impersonator! Love the rocky movies and loved watching this video of the old rocky sites thank you sir!
AWSOME video. . Brings back memories. I lived just outside Philly in 67 and 68...69.. Saw old Eagles in Franklin Field. And the Flyers in their first year expansion team in the Spectrum!
Where did the time go, rocko, no matter what, you will always be rocko, you're worth 400m, you deserve it rocko, because being from Philadelphia you have made me proud, Rocky 1and2 are the best, more than a movie to me
This is a great way to tour a great cinematic city like Philadelphia and learn about how certain locals played key roles in the making of the "Rocky" franchise films. Thanks for the upload.
Yo Michael, yous is a great impersonator! Everything is spot on: the walk, hand gestures, voice, even the facial expressions. Bravo Mike! The weird thing is that these areas of Philadelphia look the same now as they did 40 years ago.
I'm from Philly and know these locations. Still, the creator (Mike) does a great job of keeping the story entertaining with little tidbits that even locals may not know! Great job editing everything together, too, Mike!
I love watching filming locations. Sometimes everything still looks the same. I can watch videos like this for hours. Sometimes I'll take my wife and kids and take them on my own tour to different locations where movies were filmed.
I've loved in Philly for 6 years. I love this city. So much character and personality. Every building and every street has a story. Yeah it definitely has it's bad sides, but so few America cities has its style and character.
The first rocky is one of my favourite movies of all time, great atmosphere and grittiness. I'm surprised that some of the locations haven't changed much especially the gym, a real treat thanks.
UK fan Sir your tour is more....It is THE sequel to the whole franchise. Excellent detail, very informative, with a bit of Rocky thrown in too. Very well done.
The darling child of Philadelphia ! Philly is a great city than because of Rocky it's greater yet. As Hope in Rambo (first blood). Sylvester has a gift to give a fame. These two stories are amazing and touching. Such artists are rare and exceptional.
I remember watching Rocky for the first time in the winter of 1980 with my dad and brother,..we loved it, and regularly watched it together for many years after,....sadly dear dad isn't with us any more, ...but even though me and my brother are middle-aged now,...we still make time to watch it at least once of year together,....and sure dear Dad is looking down with a smile on his face watching it with us......great memories,
this video made me cry. it is my biggest wish one day to go to Philadelphia and id love to do this tour with Mike Kunda. i really hope soon to be able to go. it is my biggest wish. Thank you for uploading this beautiful video.
Even though I'm not american, I feel like I ''grew'' up on these movies, actors like Stallone, Chuck Norris were my idols as a kid. Great to see most of those locations are still there. I will visit Philly one day I hope.
Actually I’m just the tourist in the video - Mike Kunda is the guide, does a great job, has the mannerisms down pat, will keep you entertained the whole tour!
It was a statue about a fictional character named Rocky Balboa. It's sad that they moved the statue because someone like you complained that it wasn't a real fighter. It's a shame but it's true. Yes smoking Joe Frazier was from Philadelphia and why they didn't put up a statue in his honor doesn't really matter to me. Ask yourself this question who will be remembered more Rocky or Joe Frazier? The movie was supposed to be inspirational and just because they made a statue showing the true character of a man who tried his best does not bring shame to any real fighters. But quite the opposite. Not trying to insult what you're saying. I still ask the question why they never did I'll never.know Maybe they should have put one up for Muhammad Ali as well. Or how about the real Rocky Marciano which they never made a statue for him either or how about sugar Ray Leonard. Now there's a class act if I ever saw one. What I'm trying to get out here is it was just a movie to bring the best out of people and show that there is hope. Take care
Done those steps over 20 years ago when the statue was still at the top of the stairs... Me and my 14 year old daughter love the rocky films... so we gotta do em together.. great video and impressions fella 👌🏼👍😊
Thank u mike it was a great feeling to revisit the location after so many decades the first movie released 10yrs before I born. But when I watch a movie i don't just watch it i go back to the year the movie is released or the story takes place. Thank u mike thanks a lot.,, "Yo Mike we did it"
How'd you not go to Paulie's bar up on Somerset street and his house around the corner? It was just a block away from the bridge over the railroad tracks. It's my old neighborhood. And the bar in Rocky 4? The one with his son, a few blocks away at Kensington and Somerset. It's my old neighborhood. Used to deliver groceries around there when I was 13 in 1980.
All of Philly doesnt look like that..Kensington was heart of mills and factories..when manufacturing jobs left 200 ×500 story factories go vacant and take the neighborhood with it..But it can change in a matter of blocks. Half a mile from Mickeys gum there are 2mil homes...thats Philly
I went through these locations yesterday, and the drug reigns, thousands of drug addicts in every street and a lot of dirt, became a cracoland. So sad! 😢
@@AdrianodePaula2 Yeah, its all heroin and you buy it right out in the open on the street, it's crazy and I feel for the people living there that are trying to live normal lives... It's the "walking dead" down K&A!.
Goddam right brother. A proud Kenzo here, born and raised around the corner from 'Rocky's house'. Was actually there watching them film Rocky II. It still gets my Irish up when people talk bad about us Kenzos. Haha. You're right, it's a rat hole, but it's our rat hole....Go Birds!
Per capita, it has the highest opioid addiction population in the US. That in turn leads to high crime. I’m very empathetic and know that addiction is a disease, but would never suggest anyone visit the area.
thank you so much por this, first , cause it is imposible to me to go there and see that with my eyes, make me cry really so much emotion and feelings deep inside this films . thank you bro
