The MMDA continue with their efforts to enforce the exclusive bus lane on EDSA. There are rumors that the penalty for misusing the EDSA busway will soon be increased. Hopefully this move won't be opposed.
Raising the fines would definitely help. In California going to the high occupancy lane with just the driver is going to cost the driver at least $300.
The thing is, some Filipino's lack common sense and understanding. Some only cares about themselves and their self-convenience. If the penalty fines would raise, the typical response from these riders would be like, "the government is so greedy". Which they clearly missed the point.
@@venzkyleAnd we just need someone in the government with a spine, or someone that's not thinking solely about re-election that can tell those people, "You won't have to worry about the high fines if you don't break the law."
@@Valkross9 Absolutely! but it's been said so many timessss by them traffic/law enforcers. The real problem here is the mindset of some Filipino's. Instead of following the rules, they would just choose to be careful next time not to be caught by breaking the rules. Which is a dumb way of thinking. Lot of Filipino's lack common sense and only care about self-convenience. It's proven and it shows. That's why it's hard for Philippines to rise and be civilized.
Since the rules are constantly violated, it is time to apply stiffer penalties. I recommend immediate impounding of vehicles. Hirap dito sa atin, kung makakalusot okay.
@@hesdam4935wtf bro thats ur reasoning that my fckin fellow filipinos when they go to other countries like SG they obey the law of it coz they r fckin scared of the law of SG they just dont respect our Country
I think they should impose stiffer penalties for bus lane violators like license suspension for a month and a fine of P10,000 or maybe put up a signage on the bus lane entry the amount of fine they'll have to pay for violating such traffic rules.
Agreed, but license suspension won't stop them. They'll just continue to drive/ride without a license. A better option is jail for 10 days - no way to wiggle out of doing it.
Then if they get caught again for driving without license, the government should pass a law confiscating the violators' vehicle and declare it a property of the government. @@welashubby
We live in a country where the culture is if there’s no one (enforcer) to stop you, it’s fine. We desperately need to get that out of our society. Sadly, the only language these types of people understand is money-bigger fines.
Thank you GA for being so diligent and effective on our roads traffic conditions we are sorry for some of our opportunistic and insubordinate to the law country men..keep up the good work I hope to see you on the roads. (Not in the bus lane, i hope)
This is not just a bus lane but a lane for emergency vehicles. Raise the fine to a MIN 20k + LICENSE REVOCATION then you'll see drastic change, also the bus driver is correct, if an accident occurs in there then the problem will be at its worst.
This is the effect of "Diskarte" culture. Palaging diskarte lang kuno ang buhay. No need to go to good and reputable schools because diskarte is enough. No need to study hard because diskarte is enough. lol
For the government plates iirc there's a memorandum for making temporary/improvised plates. I work on LGU I already notice this on every LGU veicles which replaced a month ago. However, it doesn't mean they can go to the bus lanes or violate traffic law as excuse though.
@pinoytemplepilots9974 that's the problem ain't it? No charges can be filed against them that's why people will always violate traffic laws no matter the consequence
@@zenn2237 you can't put people in jail by committing "traffic" violations. it's like asking the same way why jaywalkers are free-roam and not penalizing them by putting them in prison
@ezmoney25 Like I said, that's the problem. This kind of behavior ( no respect for traffic laws ) will just continue unless the penalty is enough of a deterence. I have seen ambulances and fire trucks get stuck or delayed on traffic because some people do care more about getting through traffic faster than the penalty itself
When we visited Manila, we went to Batangas and on way home we took the city streets. OMG. We almost collided with motorcycles and tricycles without front or rear lights 100 times. Motorcycles ride the lane making it difficult for our van to pass. Cars and trucks running the yellow lights blocking the intersection. In Lipa City, it took us 30 minutes to clear this one intersection. It's lawless, or there is no enforcement outside of Metro Manila. I encourage you to ask your team to visit outside metro manila. But be careful. Drive with extreme caution. I mean, our van had to swerve out of overtaking Commercial trucks, busses , cars so many times. A majority on blind corners. I just don't understand the Philippines. Intersections don't have signages to tell drivers which lanes to take. Everybody just cuts everyone off.
In Japan, if the authorities ever decide to implement a similar bus-only lane, there would probably be a 99+% compliance rate, even in the absence of traffic enforcers. That's just how the Japanese people are.
@@Kngdeadbush Are you that dense ? The Japanese are role-models for public order and discipline. The Filipinos could benefit a lot if only we made an effort to emulate them.
@@digitalian99 if you want real-life examples for Filipinos to emulate, look at how Japanese line up properly at train stations, bus stops, supermarkets, etc. Look at their sidewalks and streets. No obstructions, no trash etc. Everything clean and in order. And just look at their government. Corruption is almost non-existent. There are corrupt politicians also, but nothing compared to the Filipinos. I can go on and on.....
@Gadget Addict I say just put a barrier all along the bus lane and put a camera at the entrance put a rfid type boom gate and only the busses and authorized vehicles can pass through. There no more excuses.
On areas where there are no barriers road markings like double solid lines will remind motorist that they are not allowed to cross the road. Good job MMDA and IAct.
The State of Pennsylvania used to have old police cars or half a police car with a manikin sitting inside, off the road in the bushes that you couldn't see until you were right up on the vehicle on Interstate 80. If you're speeding your heart throbs fast just waiting for the lights to go on, but it never does, but it does enough to slow you down IF you are speeding. It does work.
For some reasons kapag nakakakita o may nababalitaan ako na naaksidente na rider sa bus lane nasasabi ko na lang na Buti nga. Nakakasatisfied kahit di dapat. Deserve nila maaksidente.
Thanks for what you do GA. Can we please consider a high penalty for violations? Something to the tune of 10k Pesos.. I'm sure people wouldn't want to violate that.
And when the deployment of additional enforcers to monitor the bus lane is approved, people will still comment that it’s such a waste of funds. Funds that are better allocated to help the poor.
Bigger budget for more enforcers should not be a problem with the number of tickets they are writing, 1 ticket per enforcer per day should cover their salary. Any enforcer who can't find at least 1 violation daily in the Philippines would have to be blind. 🤷♂
That's the thing.. with most enforcers earning around P500 per day, they only have to issue a single ticket to cover their salary for the day. Anything beyond that is extra that goes to the national treasury. But regardless of the penalties / tickets, having extra enforcers on the road helps to keep discipline and order. That reduction in bad behavior can improve traffic, reduce accidents etc. On paper, it seems simple. But ultimately they have to work within whatever budget they can get approved. Considering it's often less than what they requested, I can't imagine we're going to see any major increase in manpower 🤷♂️
@@digitalian99 2 speeding tickets for over ₱10,000 each in a single month are the reason I stopped speeding daily when I was younger. More enforcement and consequences is why people in other countries follow the traffic rules more. ✌️
He introduced himself as "Agent Kamote" of the Kamote Klub. Stiffer fines for both 4-wheeled and 2-wheeled vehicles are the best way to curb the use of bus lanes. Once they see they need to pay higher fines will make them think about using the bus lanes next time.
raise the penalty to those stubborn driver, 3k for MC, 5k for 4-wheels. I think this is a good source of income(VIOLATORS) generated in favor of the government.
Oh, we should definitely heed the Ceres bus driver's complaints....the professionals that they are (not). I had one repeatedly expose me to unnecessary hazardous risk just yesterday as he repeatedly dove part way to the side, blocking the traffic lanes to illegally pick up a rider and then proceed to crowd the left lane and cut the other vehicles off to move ahead of everybody else just to dive in and illegally pick up another rider off the side of the road and start the process all over again. The bus drivers are a hazard.
The only way that I think will somewhat solve mc and private vehicles from entering the bus lane is upping the fine to at least 10k for the first violation and 20k in the next plus suspension of license then doubling again from the last and revocation of license. Simple as that. Let's see if those got caught or planning on driving on the bus lane still drive through the bus lane.
The Congress and Senate should completely change the law on Traffic violation. Taas nila multa. Example 1st violation ay normal fee pero next or upcoming violation ay x3. Every violation ay tataas ang bayad. Ewan ko lang kung meron pa gusto sumuway. If u pay 1k sa normal kasi 1st violation. Next violation ay x3 then 3k na. Then sa susunod na violation ay 3k x 3 = 9k. Ewan ko lang kung sumuway pa sila.
Makes me wonder why people even bother driving cars through this city, it looks painfully slow and stressful. Yes discipline is very low here but there are just too many who wish to drive cars. Maybe a congestion charge should be implemented for private vehicles in the city and make it harder for people to purchase cars on such low entry finance deals.
Put mini humps on the bus lane, just enough to deter MCs from using them. It won’t make much of a difference to Buses and Cars but as you said Cars are easily apprehended due to traffic. MC riders won’t risk their shocks and wheel being damaged. And would make it easier for the enforcer
What if they reverse the direction of the bus travel? Thus will not just discourage on-coming private vehicles from using the bus lane but it would put the bus doors near the island-side.
Construct a checkpoint in every bus stop, like a guard house where MMDA can monitor the bus lane 24/7. I only see MMDA patrolling in GMA Kamuning every night so meaning they can enforce this kind of strategy. This will solve the issue.
I'm not familiar with the rules, but maybe it's a good idea to make running away from an apprehension a separate violation in itself, or it can be treated as an aggravating circumstance to increase the fine/penalty for the original violation.
Extra penalties are often added for those who run away.. Generally it would be 'apprehended after a long chase' and/or 'reckless driving'. Sometimes the driver will also be recommended for seminar. It just depends on the exact circumstances.
@@cliffordting8650I mean this is always the case overseas if an officer of the law asked you to stop, you HAVE TO STOP (unless it’s safety hazard/concerns). Only in the Philippines enforcers are nice and still get called out for being inconsiderate😂
@@digitalian99 - That's probably because of CCTV cameras with radar that can detect overspeeding and other violations. Unfortunately, for now our CCTV cameras for non-contact apprehension are being questioned in court and are actually under a TRO by the Supreme Court. So, there's no choice at present but use enforcers to catch and ticket violators.
Could they put a semi bump lane painting on the length of bus lane. So those who want to avoid it would have a bit of difficulty exiting the bus lane? The lane bump should be at height that don't cause any real accident.
The barriers were removed from the flyovers and tunnels, for safety reasons. Plastic bollards were installed, but people were literally running over them on purpose. They also tried metal bollards, but most of them quickly got ran down too - mostly by accident.
Dpat lagyan ng automated ticketing camera yang EDSA bus lane. The amount of government revenue it will generate can be used to improve public transport or even subsidised EDSA
I hope they increase the penalty for using bus line para matakot sila.. kasi kung mura lang ok lng sa kanila yan pero if ever 5000 ang penalty, my improvement siguro or higher..
Penalty should be high/severe enough for it to become a deterrent, because if this is a daily operation and people still feel like they can get away with it or the fine/penalty is marginal, this will keep on happening. Fine + Suspension and Community Service.
MMDA should use the NCAP cameras as a supplementary tool during these "contact" apprehensions. Is it possible for the NCAP facility to give realtime video support to the MMDA enforcers on the ground? Please tell me if it's illegal, since this suggestion is technically not "non-contact".
Can LTO put 2 enforcers in each buses that is traversing the bus lane? And everytime there’s a car behind or a motorcycle, the buses can slow down and the enforcers can go down right at the end of bus lane where there is a barrier, there’s no way the violators can run then
