Bus to Koh Samui from Bangkok for $34. Ferry to Koh Samui from Donsak. Thrifty backpacking

I am traveling on a $34 bus and a ferry to Koh Samui from Bangkok, Thailand. The trip takes about 16,5 hours and provides a toilet on the bus and on the ferry as well.
The seat turned out to be a little uncomfortable.

There is a fast cruise boat that goes from KohSamui to Pattaya and back called the Sea Horse! 12 hour journey and you can get a room for 3000 baht or rent a seat for less! So that would be one option for you journey or another is head down to Phuket and visit Bang Tao beach. Trust me you wouln't regret it, pure paradise there!

Thanks for the video and I totally do not regret booking a plane ticket from Bangkok. Yes its indeed 5 times more expensive but 1 1/2 hour instead of 16,5 is just too good. Also, if you dont manage to sleep on the bus your next day is kind of ruined, so it only seems worth it if spending a lot of time is not an issue.

Thanks for the video. I just checked flights. It is $120.00. You saved 120.00 - 34.00 = 86.00. You had to spend money on three meals. Also, you spent 16 hours that you didn't earn income. Nope. It isn't worth it because you had an opportunity cost 16 - 2.0 (flight time) = 14 hours of opportunity cost time. 16 x 7.25 (minimum wage) = 116. The cheapest man spends the most money. Having said all this, I might do it ONCE for the experience only!!!!

Man! Good calculations. Although they might not work for everyone. I think the labor per hour scheme works if you are employed or have a solid business of yours. However, lots of travelers here are without a job and do not have a chance and desire to get hired. Secondly, you save money not paying for a night in a hotel, while you are on the bus. Thirdly, a plane trip takes more than 2 hours. You have to get to the airport, go through the security check, etc. Sure you might be able to work remotely while you are at the airport, but technically you could do the same on the bus too. Anyways, thanks for the feedback! A plane trip is definitely more comfortable. But the bus experience is also interesting!
