It's pretty amazing for me seeing Obama and Bush, two political opponents with such different views and opposed objectives have such a respectful relationship. Watching this video now in 2020 makes me think of the times when the languages of respect, unity, and diplomacy prevailed at the people's White House. It's sad to see what it has currently gone to these days.

Say what you want about W (and I can sure say a hell of a lot) amidst all his buffoonery he was always the first to laugh at himself. Remember his reaction trying to open that door in China? Hell, I can respect that. With all the anger and frustration that occurs between the public and any Commander-In-Chief, there still remains something oddly reassuring about having a President with a sense of humor and self-deprecation. Even when it's scripted! Same with Obama. Now imagine Trump trying to open that door...

My political leanings are towards the democrats but I've come to love George W Bush. He has a lot of critics but he has a wonderful sense of humanity and humility which is missing from many other politicians. He has no trouble laughing at himself but he has class. Plus absolutely loves his country and its people.

As a German loving America and its culture, I have laughed at these "Bushisms" a lot when he was president. I appreciated Obama's victory back then, just as Biden's now. But somehow, in between, I developed some kind of sympathy for George W. Bush.

I can give Trump one compliment in earnest. He made me realize just how good we had it before he arrived in terms of the civility of DC politics. Trump never hosted a similar portrait unveiling for Obama, which had been a tradition for decades.

It is sad to know that Mr. George W. Bush is not longer president and most likely never will be. He was such a great president and more importantly a great person for as much as we got to know him from media. To some people around the world, like me, he is a true hero and a walking saint. My god. When GWB was in office I thought he was a terrible president with an even worse vice president. What i wouldn't give to have had the last four years with a president who feels empathy, a kind, decent hardworking family man, who, despite misguided policies, would never put himself or his party above his country. Miss the days when watching our Presidents brought smiles and joy, irrespective of their political affiliation. This is what a President should look and act like, not the imbecile holding the office now, bringing nothing but destruction and divisiveness.
Despite not caring for Bush much , Laura was a wonderful first lady and very likable. And Bush was not in the news every freaking day of his Presidency squawking about this that and the other . Neither was Obama.

Watching this again today makes me realise how far Trump has dragged political discourse completely into the gutter and how incapable he is of the humour and self deprecation shown here.
