One good hit is all it takes to win or die. This game was super realistic for being released in 1997 and broke ground as a remarkably unique fighting game.

For whatever it’s worth, it was actually VERY well-known among people who avidly followed console video games in the mid-to-late 90s; that’s certainly not a small number of people, but it sure as heck is a thin slice of the population.

This game was a hidden gem. I remember getting this on Christmas my older brother and I were in complete disbelief when we realized you can literally end the duel in 1 attack and take the battle to different levels. Being able to cut the bamboo in the back and watch it fall as you fight this game was an absolute gem. If you weren't there you need to experience it.

I remember that this game has an honor system and you should respect some rules to get through and watch the real ending. There's things like "don't hit anyone that has fallen on the floor, never hit someone on their backs and don't hit your enemy while they're talking before the fight". Try again fighting fair, I played this over 20 years ago. My kid is now the age I was back then. 😂
@superhc0
@superhc0 Год назад
I'm fairly sure that's actually a misconception, you can do anything you want during the fight, including tactics like: running around an enemy and knocking them down by running into them from behind, and then stabbing them before they get up for the kill, and still be able to finish the story. But you just can never interact with the enemy during their intro. The reason why following the code is said to include all the honorable tactics and such is likely because you only ever know about it once you beat the cave level, you could have accidentily attacked your first opponent a little too soon and just assumed you did something wrong on the cave level or something to trigger the game over, but in reality your fate was sealed after the first fight without your knowing.

Fun fact but this game has a second secret ending. If you hit an opponent before they are ready (While they are giving there anime monologue before every fight) You will not get any ending. In fact I believe playing through the game normally will not get you any ending. Both endings require you to do this really weird (but very funny thing). For starters you can only play as a few characters to get it, Im sure there is a list somewhere but for me I used Red Shadow and it works. So now that we have the character out of the way, you are in your first fight, make sure to not do anything is until your opponent is ready, you have to be honorable! Ready? Ok, now immediately be dishonorable and run away from your opponent. Yes in order to get access to the actual endings you will have to physically run away from the first opponent and they will chase you. (Do NOT get hit or knicked once by them throughout the entire chase sequence.) Now that you are running head for the trees, keep running through and you will reach a tunnel, inside looks like a dead end. Its not, just keep running against the barrier and the game will load the next area. (It also tries to wait for the opponent to be closer to you so its fine) You will come across several of these loading zones during the chase. Once you leave the first loading zone you will come across a bridge, run across the bridge and head towards the small ledge on the right hand side of the wall on the other side of the bridge, if you run into the ledge while holding r1 you can climb up the wall. You will need to climb up more walls later. Once you climb up the wall and wait for your opponent to catch up as you run against the loading zone, you'll be in the third area. Progress down the alley you enter until you jump off the cliff, once your opponent catches up you'll enter the second half of the area where you'll see the bamboo trees from the cutscene that plays when you beat enough fighters. Climb up the ledge into the bamboo trees and run into the bamboo forest and towards the left. Heading down and left from the trees will take you to another wall you can climb up into another loading zone. Once it loads you'll enter an area with a ledge immediately visible. Climb up the ledge and run to the left, past a sign along the street and you will reach a big wooden gate where the next loading zone is. Now you will keep running to the left for awhile until you can take the first right where you will find another large gate, with another loading zone. Now you will have to climb up three walls that you will immediately see. Once you reach the top, turn to the left and you'll be at another loading zone. One you have loaded, run diagonally up and left until you get towards some green gates and the keep going left until you find another ledge. You will have to wait for the opponent to catch up for the game to load the next area, and once it does, you can climb the wall into the final stretch. Now you'll notice you are in the are the cutscene where you jump into the hole to fight the final opponent, which would normally be where the arcade mode would end if you were playing normally. So all you have to do is jump into the hole the same way you do in the cutscene (to jump its L2 and r1). Once you have completed this, you will now be fighting your first opponent in the final area of the game where you will normally be fighting the last opponent. Congrats! you have officially completed step one to getting both endings! Dont worry, there is no more convoluted stuff like this. So now that you made it lets tell you how to get all endings! Ending number 1 you will fight every opponent with honor. Do not cheat by hitting before they are ready and you should be good. However, instead of fighting the other playable characters you will be going up against several characters who can mess you up and are unplayable. So you will know that you did it right if you are in the final area, and you defeat the first opponent, the second opponent(who would normally be the final fight) and then immediately you are on a brand new stage fighting a guy with a purple shirt and a literal actual gun. Yes a gun. And yes bullets kill you in one hit. For both endings you will be fighting these new characters so I can tell you how they work since I just did it for myself lol. For the gunman, he will probably shoot you so the best thing you could do is start the match by running into him and towards either the left or the right, if he fires he will miss and any hit you land on him while he misses a shot is an insta kill. But i used the overhead swing. The second fighter is a man with a double bladed staff. Fight him the way you fight normal opponents but be cautious of using big swings. His attacks are fasts and if he counters you at all its an instant kill on you every time. The third fight is against a woman with a rapier stance but don't be fooled because she has moves that the entire cast does not have. She has an instant kill move that breaks blocks which is a spin attack that you have to dodge backwards against however if you catch the move before it hits you you can insta kill her instead. The fourth fight is against the actual "final" boss of this game and the one everyone is actually trying to kill. Hes an old man in a dojo that has the longest pre game monologue I have ever heard. Funny enough if you just want the normal ending for your character you can kill him while he is talking and get the real ending. However if you want to fight him, he will start the fight with a jumping move that is an insta kill that you have to dodge. Afterwards its a straight forward swordfight between you and him. If you killed him playing normally you will get the first ending which is like a tekken cutscene so its kind of cool. But no you dont want the boring canon ending, you want the secret good stuff! Well this game has what every good early fighting game had, a secret boss with crazy requirements! Now all you have to do to get the secret boss is everything you do in the 1st ending but you can't get hit ONCE. This means run to the hole, and then fight every opponent, which includes the new ones, without taking any swings yourself. And you cannot be dishonorable and swing first, which means you do have to listen to the monologue of each character and wait until they are ready. So if you lose a fight or take any damage you have to reset the entire run and start from the beginning. You'll know when you complete the run correctly once you kill the old man and instead of the ending cutscene, you'll get an intermission in game cutscene like the ones before. Now you are fighting the real actual SECRET final boss, a samurai with a cool red katana. There is no gimmick, there is no cheap stuff. This boss is just a test of your skill, which if you got here at all means you will probably win very easily, but he WILL test your knowledge. You can't get an early cheap shot on him because he will block it and start the fight early, he will parry and dodge swing at the best times. The only way to beat him is to beat him. If you are good you can do it fast if not you can at least keep fighting him over and over cause you no longer have to worry about not taking damage or having to continue at this point. Once you defeat the samurai you officially get the second ending which I think usually tells you what happens to you characters after the main ending. Which is pretty cool as it actually makes it so your characters isn't left on a sour note as most endings have that. But yeah thats my guide on how to complete the game if you ever want to fight the final boss and get the full bushido blade experience! This game was great, and I finally got to play it for real even though as a kid I had to sneak it away from my older brother to play it lol.

I'll just add that you can unlock Katsue (the gunman) if you finish Slash Mode (the mode where you have to kill 100 ninjas) without getting hit and you need to have any of the second endings unlocked. He is only usable on Versus mode, and it's as stupidly broken as his Story Mode fight.

1:30 THE FORCE MODE KICKS IN AND FEEL WHAT THE COMPUTER IS DOING, AND STRIKE BACK WHEN NEEDED AND NOT A MOMENT BEFORE. This was the game, that no one really worked out how to play. But once you did, if you were good enough you could fight your opponent blindfolded with no music and just sound effects and kill them just by listening to how they moved. This is the only true gyroscopic game that was ever made. Up and down changed un a few different factors. where your opponent was. which way your facing at the exact time of making your strike ( especially when crippled or lying down ) If you played from 1st person view, it was a totally different game ( but the computer was no where near heard enough ), when i used to play from 1st person view, and the computer wasn't within eye view, ( you had to use the force, ) to feel where the computer was then strike, or block. From eye view on replays i killed the computer with about the 1st inch of my sword most times. Blocking wasn't always perfect, which put you off balance. You had dirt you could throw. AMAZING Throwing stars/knives. You could lose an arm which would slow you down. The 100 guy thing was so hard at first, but you have to keep your calm, random acts of stupidness could get you killed. PS1 needed better control pads. I wish they had this game online. And in tournaments. And tournaments of SF2 Special Champion Edition, 10 Stars Speed, No Count down Clock and 10 stars Hardness, which didn't make a difference in 2 player mode. I LOVED THIS GAME ME SMOKING BOB MARLEY AND HAVING A FEW BEERS. Sam with Tenchu 1. though now the tank controls are difficult to get back used to

I find how folks will be like, "OH For Honor is so innovative". Meanwhile Bushido Blade is just standing there screaming for validation!!!

Hm, the game looks very interesting, but I must say it didn't comes even close, because the fight seems to be over as soon your enemy gets hurt. In Bushido Blade you fight further with wounds and handicaps and that is also a part of the fun.

I remember I played this game decades ago. pvp mode was way more enjoyable. had to be very careful on every move.
