Solar systems are fairly simple. It's like anything else I have learned. Break it into its individual systems and components. There are plenty of videos online, but most of what you do will be dictated by the components you buy. Will Prowse has some good videos, and will make you a little more solar savvy. I myself am fully off grid in the desert in Southern Utah.

Exactly, Spencer learned so many different trades that given him time and capital, he can easily open a business to do business with nearby customers who need work on their properties. I guess that not many people can do so much like him and his wife.

Just setting up the solar system alone, is a massive achievement. You are a very clever chap and should be really proud of how far you’ve come. You’ve taught yourself so much, people go to uni for years so they can achieve what you’ve done single handedly. You’ve both worked incredibly hard and deserve so much happiness with your young family in your new home. I wish you all the very best future. xxx

I had a couple of thoughts, if you don't mind hearing them. I would drive grounding rods and mount lightning rods in the area. I think that old power pole could be useful to you all, as you've mounted your cellular signal booster antenna before, and if that street light still works, you could have that light up the area at night, if you don't already. And, now that you've got all that great work done, maybe the next steps will be to increase your battery bank's capacity and add a wind turbine for cloudy but windy days. Also, you could plant bushes and trees next to the solar panels to block the view of them from your home. At any rate, I love your videos and want to encourage you all to keep up the good work.

Beagles one would not usually look at as a Beautiful dog but my Mother felt she was and that became her name. So when you told all of us your "Beautiful" baby's name, I told my husband oh, I hope they spell it like our Beaux Beaux was, and I was so happy to see it "Beau" !! She is such a cutie and has grown so fast it seems. She's definitely Daddys helper and a good one. Hey Guys, I have to say that this was a really inspiring episode on a couple levels. On 1 level, as a house painter, I really appreciate the difference finishing the trims can make. I know you didn’t spend a ton of time on that in this episode, but I know that it’ll have such a huge impact! On the 2nd level, I’ve been watching Spencer mess with the solar array for weeks. As a junior astrology nerd, I understood the principle, but to see it action made for a tremendous visual understanding of the massive impact it would have! I kinda felt like it was a space movie and the protagonist just finished repairing the ship and the camera pans to the console. Everything was plugged in and you see that power has been restored! Super fun guys! Such a great episode for me! I could see the confirmation confidence oozing off you both! And Beau was Super Cute!!! Love from Vancouver, Canada! 🇨🇦

To help smooth the movement of the cranking, rub a bar of soap along the brace when it is extended. When you crank it down the soap will go inside and smooth things. This is great for old-style drawers that use a wooden channel.

@firefox7530
@firefox7530 2 года назад
Well they have lots of trees around. A Wind mill must be way above the tree line to have it's full potential. I built some and even Trees 100m away can substantially impact the air stream. Such a high pole require a big heavy base and a really good pole. Also strain strings are needed to up high to protect the pole from flexing to much in the wind and survive high winds. I don't know if you really want to have something like this on a such beautiful property like they have. Adding a 3rd Array and more battery is the way to go, and also if they go EV then hopefully they will buy a car which allows bidirectional usage so that the car can also be used as a power source for the house.

I have enjoyed the journey from start to present. Watching the work the two of you did at the beginning was tiring for me and I’m watching. Most of all I love the way the two of you show love to one another. A home, 2 babies, now panels working to give you all the power you need. Your an amazing couple.

I can’t even imagine how wonderful this must feel for you guys - it’s not even my house and I’m amazed and so happy for you and to see all of your exhausting hard work turn into all this and that you allowed so many people to go along on this journey with you I personally thank you very much. It’s funny just the other day I was thinking of asking you if baby girl had seen the lights, Inside the house, yet. It was delightful seeing her reaction because that’s a pretty awesome set up.💕

Spencer and Kenz I have to say, you guys should be proud of all the work you'll have done on your own for your first build. I think you two have done an awesome job on your home and I'm very impressed. Well done you two thus far....can't wait to see it finished and I know you two can't wait either.

Awesome Solar mounts! Reminds me of climbing up a mountain every few months to adjust the solar panels for our businesses off-grid tower sites! I like this crank method much better. We had to remove bolts and reposition while one person held up the panel with brute strength lol. It was a small workout in itself! Good times though.☺️😁 Now we aspire to have a system much like this for our soon-to-be-house! So inspiring! Great job! Love it!

fingers crossed. I have neighbors that built a beautiful rustic home here in the woods with meticulous live-edge finishes and the works. Then when the exterior was mostly finished they started wrapping up the interior . . . and this is when they displayed to the neighbors that they were severely lacking in 'interior decorating' skills/talent. I'm anxious to see what MacKenzie and Spencer come up with.

@@lucyarumsey7262 agreed. So far that seems to be the route they're taking. I love the little L shaped dining bench. I have high expectations that it will be homey and charming . . . like they are.

The time lapse starting @11:33 helps us really see how different the seasonal levels will be and how well orchestrated the mechanism is to make the necessary changes. You guys must be so proud of the way your home is coming together. It seems unreal how far you've come. I've been watching since your were prepping for the delivery of your containers . . . and have been hooked ever since.

Something you might consider is having the transformer and lines removed then replace that vapor lamp with an LED area light. Be very handy going outside after dark. You could also put a REAL lightning rod on the top of the pole, that would help protect everything since it's so much higher.

I hate doing trim.....that's what we're working on right now too. Do not use MDF trim in the bathrooms or kitchen. Any moister and it'll bubble and fall apart. I honestly thought the panels were going to bind like crazy. Glad it worked out!
