Butch Brown shows you how to rig your Huddleston Deluxe swimbaits his way. When your done, be sure to visit the website, www.huddbaits.com and our Facebook page.
the master has spoken. real easy real clean real simple, I tell guys all the time, not sure what the problem is with stingers and missed fish, working your butt off and missing fish etc etc . rig it like this, cast it out and reel it in. done.
Eduardo Valenzuela i was wondering the same thing. I'd like to try tossing a 10" but $80 is a little too rich for me. Guess i'll stick to the 68 and 8"

why wouldn't butch and huddleston collaborate and use this rigging or give butch his custom series of huds? Butch Brown has taken the Hud and modified it the way Hendix took the Fender Stratocaster and made it his own. LEGENDS!
Shawn Habich it probably has something to do with him damaging, or " MODIFYING " Ken's masterpiece... I wouldn't do it either it's only better to butch because that's his opinion. If you don't do this correctly you will lose fish, and your bait that you paid a good amount of money for is permanently destroyed.. there are better rigging techniques in MY opinion that won't ruin your bait, or cost you fish if done incorrectly. Just a hook, and about 6 inches of leader material. HAY WIRE TWIIIIST!
The Butch Brown Rig is more like a Floyd Rose or the Parsons B Bender to a guitar. A personal modification. But if Butch used a spinning outfit upside-down and backwards........He'd be THE most famous Basser of all time right now. Hell, we'd all be doing it.
Damn!!! I wish I watched this before buying all components to rig a Hudd southertrouteater style.... And yes, I read about the problems with gill/gut hooking on select forums after as well.....
I’ve done similar modifications myself my only concern I’ve had about it in the past witch is also why I leave the hook it comes with also if I can help it an add the treble. But my concern has ben that the bass thrashing it’s head it may be easier for it to throw the hook cause of the weight of the swimbait is basically pulling the hook out what are your thoughts about that you’ve had to of considered doing it a different way after you caught that 19.3 i noticed that if you didn’t have that net ready are even if you where a second later you never would have landed that fish it flung that bait just as you where neting it. Do you think that would have still happened if you had the original hook instead of the free swinging treble style setup. I see pros an cons for both.
In 2006 Butch was riggin the second trap hook, also on top. Does he still use this method? Most of the videos I've seen even 2-3 lbers swallowed the 8" Huddleston. I rigged mine as Butch suggests, with wire+sleeve. Will be tossin it with 50# PowerPro green, I hope they don't get spooked by the line. If only there were a tiny quick change adapter, not a snap swivel, for us one pole fisherman, $1500 in poles so they don't have to spend time tying up lures. :sheesh:
@HuddlestonDeluxe Awesome video! I'm not going to use the lure you've presented, also I often get strikes on the sides of my lure when I go for pike fishing so I'm gonna need more hooks on the bait this size, still, I learned quite alot from your video, especially in terms of attaching the treble to the swimbait- I've not realised that a treble has a flat surface and how big difference it makes to the action of the lure. Cool way of crimping the wire as well :) Cheers for the video
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Demetrius Hunter i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@HuddlestonDeluxe Well I've just checked your site and found something that would suit me well, so I change my mind about trying ur lure out. I have a question tho- is there a way of improving the tail action? I'm looking for something thats going to work very well even when reeled in very slowly, any suggestions how to modify the 8" trout? Cheers
hey when are you guys gonna restock your stuff? i want to buy the baby bass colors but they are out of stock when can i get some? i ask for baby bass because in the small lake i fish in it has no trout and grass minnows are very rare
@TheKntcase - Unfortunately, Butch does not regularly visit the Huddleston RU-vid Channel, is sometimes hard to get a hold of, and may not reply directly. I don't rig my 6" baits this way and don't necessarily recommend it,.. but I have seen it done before. This person had made a small hook size hole for the hook to set it.
Replacing a top hook that can easily be thrown by a vicious head shake with one that detaches from the lure and increases your chances of landing a big one
Are you able to get Butch's opinion on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been meaning to ask Butch, and YOU since it seems you fish these 'big' swimbait, what line do you use? #? Brand? Anything and everything, I'd want it where I won't lose my swimbait if I was to hook onto a Giant and he have me pulling. But on the side note, something else where I can bass fish other lures and jigs on. :]
I live in Oregon now , but grew up in the 805 , Im holding the Firestone Walker brewing company beer coaster ....Lake Casitas is my favorite , then Isabella , Cachuma, Castaic , Piru...California is so fkd up now...Damn Politicians gotta ruin anything they touch (Demonic/Dems)
+Tannervirden When salmon smolts are very young they look almost exactly like a rainbow trout. Stripers eat the shit out of them in the delta. Not only that, stripers will eat just about anything that swims lol
He says that you can only catch them using it his way but... All you are you is adding another hook and really I do not think it matters. With the 1 hook it has will do just fine you dont need to add another hook.
The "butch brown rigging" eliminates all leverage that the fish would have with the single hook that comes on the hudd. The way the butch does it allows the hook to move around instead of it being still.
getting up there with the followers doggie, you might start making shirts and getting free stuff from companies and wasting time giving plugs on overrated rods just like fluke did. That's the next step...hopefully not. keep up the humor and editing skills, don't go overboard
Just find a lake stocked with trout! They used to stock a pond behind my house and I caught a 24", 25" and probably a dozen over 20"...2 acre lake, all it takes is trout as a food source! Check out my fishing blog, everythingthatswims.blogspot.com!
A Race Baiter. Do you want to walk the shoreline for eternity in a never ending search the meaning of your life? And BTW Palestine belongs to the Palestinians.
Not bad but its over exaggerated. It takes one bass to rip the plastic apart. Then u have just wasted a $20 hud. Sorry bud. Didnt mean to rain on ur parade
