My grandfather was a crew member for this car back in the late 1960s when it went for a wild ride. The red circles in the video show how the drivers arms and legs left the cockpit during the flip. He suffered a broken arm and concussion along with various bumps, cuts, scrapes and bruises. But survived to race another day.

Did the driver live. That was a very BAD ACCIDENT.

Yes, the driver lived. He had a severely broken arm that can been seen in one of the photos. He also had a pretty significant swelling to his head and they had a hard time getting his helmet off.

Think God for the safety equipment drivers have today. This made his contribution by showing what needed to worked on. Never seen legs come out of the cockpit without being ejected.

Absolutely agree! It’s pretty wild to think how far we’ve come from this, but equally as crazy that only 15-20 years before these pictures were taken there were no seatbelts or cages on sprint cars at all. Many drivers best chance at survival was to be thrown clear of the crashing car!
