Chloe plays the opening of the second movement, Allegro, from the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto by Chen Gang and He Zhanhao. This was filmed in concert in Nov 2023, with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and its Associate Conductor Rodolfo Barráez.

In the Violin Channel interview with Chloe we learned that Chloe will be starting her bachelor studies at Hanns Eisler in Berlin this October and studying with Kolja Blacher. Very, very best wishes for an exciting, happy and fruitful experience! We are all rooting for you!

@@Phymacss Need to ask Chloe or her mom about that, but Hanns Eisler is one of the best music schools in Europe. Kolja Blacher is a violin teacher who studied extensively with Dorothy Delay and is a fine soloist in his own right. He used to be concertmaster at BPO for several years before deciding on a soloist career. Think he generally handles masters students, but given Chloe's skill level, the school may have made some exceptions for her.

@@Winterstick549 I watched Kolja Blacher in masterclass and the way he teaches is to help the student find an authentic voice. Chloe has mentioned previously that interpretation is the most challenging for her, so I suspect Herr Blacher will be helpful in that regard. I also suspect Chloe's technical skills will not be the focus of class, especially if she is being treated like a masters level student.

Even though the audios of the first 2 sections are available separately on RU-vid, this connecting segment is a delight that showcases the contrast perfectly. On this video, Chloe plays expressively and efficiently without affectation and fulsome "expressive" mannerism, letting her interpretation of the music speak for itself.

Thank you Chloe and the SSO for putting together such a great CD! Another commentator mentioned that he thought it was very appropriate for Chloe to do the violin solo part of Zhu Ying Tai and that her performance reflected the youthful emotions at the heart of this concerto. A great deal of thought went into finding the right sound and balance for the soloist and the orchestra. Really, really loved it!

The SSO is on fire in this clip. My copy of the CD was delivered a couple of weeks ago - I bought it direct from Pentatone by going to their website - and I have listened to it daily ever since. Chloe's performance over the whole CD - not just in Butterfly Lovers but in Paganini #1 and Sunshine over Tashkurgan - is stunning and beyond compare.

@@Sadarsa Chloe is very famous on YT - and rightly so, since she is a magnificent violinist - but she is only just starting out in the world of classical music, where YT has little influence.
