About 20 years ago, my wife and I met Gibby in a bar. He told this story about how when he was a kid, he made a kite and flew it so high that it attracted aliens. (As in from outer-space) Someone asked him what his home-made kite was constructed from. He replied "Fish butts"
Best band ever , love them. Interesting, fun , sometimes funny and kick ass . Incredibly original and creative. Feel very lucky to of discovered them . Only wish I could of seen them live . Very talented band
I have no idea why....but this song regularly pops into my head. Even with not hearing it for years, it will just randomly appear in my head...especially the second verse.
the Butthole Surfers have been my favorite band for a long time. they were one of the first bands i started listening to. i'm pretty sure they will always be my favorite.
I got to work with Paul at willie nelsons studios while he was producing a meat puppets album. It was him and stuart sullivan. I was a production assistant and got my internship there. Gibby would show up sometime and mess around with some stuff. Cool guy. Fun times! This was right after they produced Sublimes album. Paul was cool as hell and didn't act all goofy like he does in these interviews and videos. Lots of bud being smoked.
They actually are , listened to their whole discography it's genius masked with chaos, drugs and lunacy .. some people might only know them from the song pepper or as the band with a weird name, to me they are very underrated, but atleast rock bands they influenced truly acknowledged them
I can't believe that I missed this version. I watched almost all the 120 Minutes episodes around the time that the album that this song was on was released. I really like this version.
i love when smart people do drugs and not just fools who make us all look bad. these two men are just awesome. even while doing something like this they make it so fucking insane in a unique way/
Favorite Song, like this recording ... wish I knew the date? Guessing 1994 or 1993? Saw Paul Leary in Seattle I think 2010, he was aged which scarred me, as I am aging too, reason the liking this song, we are a all one step away to death. Remember that night, the stranger we me on the internet, him hitting the sweet tasting gas, Nitrous oxide. Saw Paul, talked to him but never took a picture, he handed a $20 to a homeless chick near the Showbox, And I automatically, grabbed my wallet and gave her a buck. That night I almost got kicked out of the showbox, and I think I was recording something, Mnnn time for me to upload something.
I am posting again of a post I posted two years ago, that is 2014. So, I saw BHS play in Seattle in 2010. And ever since that date I dropped out of school, started a religion the became a catholic, failed at that, then started a drug habit with meth in 2012 11/22/2012.. and now I am on probation living in Capitol Hell, where my court approved housing is . Now i SHARE THIS SONG ON FACEBOOK
Take me Break me Tell me a good one And maybe I'll cry Go with me Show me Tell me a good one And maybe I'll die Lately I've been dancing in ceiling fans Into the kitchen, and out the back gate Well I know it sounds strange But It could be the other way Round to the ground where I know I must stay Take me Break me Tell me a good one And maybe I'll cry Go with me Show me Tell me a good one And maybe I'll die Lately I've been dancing in ceiling fans Circled in secrets and playing a game Well I know it sounds strange But It could be the other way Round in a town where they don't know your name
saying these guys aren't deep is like saying the sun isn't bright. it would take me way too long to explain to ignorant people that these guys's songs are generally all deep lyrically and emotionally, so just go with it. kthanksbro. now if you said they were a little bit way too out there for you, that's a completely opposite thing, and i think they are a little bit too out there for the general public. but that doesn't make them bad, it just makes them hard to listen to and follow 4 those peeps
Sorry just this one. I was lucky enough to download it because when i went looking for it again they had removed it. But there are a couple of BS crazy things around here. Cheers m8
i saw a yellow goblin in my head with gold viking horns like flavor flav one time on a bad trip. adam sandler had a white robe on and his head turned into a cherry and his robe turned into whipped cream. worst trip of my life. i've had some good ones back in my day check out my skate video. cop pulls out a gun butthole surfers are a good band
Is it just me or is Gibby being so stoic the funniest part of this? Not sure if I'm seeing shit that isn't there or it was deliberate. Then again, if I have to ask I probably know the answer...
Butthole Surfers have a lot of subtle humour in their albums. In my opinion it is no mistake that this song is #2 on the album. A few years earlier all the hair metal bands had to have a power ballad as track 2....bands were forced to do this...and it was pretty crappy. I'm convinced that tune is a satire of the late 80's early 90's power ballad.
Music is to make ya feel something, if ya don't feel something, move on..bhs move me..I'm musician as well, I appreciate lots of different kinds, and there is talent in creating your own sound and ideas. These guys do just that, there's noone like them. Paul leary can jam btw, besides producing some great records for other artists.
@aeronpanick thank you very much for your answer, your statement makes sense and explains a lot, I can't stand pakistani music even more than noise, I guess I am kind of authentic but classic rock records fan, as you mentioned while it is natural for many people, is it the matter of habit for other? so is it possible to get used to it? cause LSD is too expensive... :D I don't want to sound cocky and lame but I can enjoy myself without drug abuse, at least for now :D
