How regular people cant afford gas for their cars and the heating bills that are going to be here in a month or two. I can understand both sides of this argument. One, our supply chain is the worst it's been in decades. Two, he needs to be home to take care of his newborns. It's two separate challenges that require 100% focus. I think he should have acknowledged that in his interview, and went on to say he trusted the people working on the supply chain during his absence. He didn't have to be petty. Our politicians need to respond better to public criticism. Tucker (a citizen/journalist) has every right to challenge Buttigieg. Buttigieg (a politician/government employee) should not react as if he was personally attacked. We the people, want our government to run at 100% at all times. We should always be challenging our government officials to meet this ask of us. Buttigieg played the victim card, a standard practice now on the left.

Paternity leave is for the man to be there in the woman's last days of pregnancy and then to assist her with the newborn(s) because she's too weak from giving birth to do it alone. Rental car costs are up because they had sold their fleets when Covid hit and had to buy new. The demand went up, so they jacked up their prices to take advantage of it. Gas has gone up because of supply and demand and the oil companies got a hit when we all stopped driving much when we had the shutdown. They are trying to make up for their losses. Used cars have gone up because of the supply and demand. It started because of shutdowns from Covid-19. Hotels went up from 2020 because people are now traveling. They kept their prices down in 2020 to get people to go to their hotels. These issues began with the last administration. The backup of shipping goods were because PPEs were of highest priority; China shut down because of Covid which created a backlog; shipping containers did not get shipped where they needed to be; shipping costs have gone up dramatically, thereby raising to costs of everything. Again this began under the prior administration and has continued on through Biden. The difference is Biden is doing something about it, along with all the other things he is trying to fix and work on that hadn't been worked on for four years.

I had cancer surgery several years ago. I literally couldn't move the first 24 hours after surgery because there were so many tubes, needles and devices attached to my body and it took a while for the anesthetic to wear off. But I opened up my MacBook Pro and was working on a few reports from my bed the next day. The work culture is that you take a laptop with you on vacation or wherever you go so that you can log in to deal with regular work and problems. I would not expect someone to be able to take several weeks off 6 months into a new job. It is not like these dudes are recovering from child birth or a C-section. The whole idea of paternal leave is so the dad can help the mother as she recovers. Many times mom's have bad depression following giving birth. The more I think about the situation the more I realize that Pete and his husband are just gaming the system.

It’s not having the leave that’s a problem it’s the level of his responsibility as a cabinet. There is a crisis that he has to deal with. He has been on leave since August it’s November now that’s a very long leave. Start working now your wife or your other half is there to look after your babies and get a help that’s normal for working parents. Parental leave is only for 4 weeks for average employees not 4 months.

Meanwhile, I won't be getting any paid maternity leave when I give birth in November. My employer said I can take time off, but it will be unpaid and I'm the breadwinner of the family. We need both maternity and paternity leave requirements in the US. It's so sad that we have such a low standard of living for the richest country in the world.
You have the right to it. It’s federal law. Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Look into it. It’s your right. The government will pay you. I think you can take up to three months.

Only the USA, Suriname, Papua New Guinea and a few small islands in the Pacific Ocean have no paid family leave. In my country the woman gets 16 weeks and after the child is born her partner gets 6 weeks
