How well does the Chrysler 300 hold up after several years and over 260,000 miles? Today we take an in-depth look! Follow me on Instagram @TopLineRacer Email me: TopLineRacer@gmail.com Merchandise: teespring.com/...
I have a 2016 300 s AWD, owned 3 years now, still love it, may have a driveshaft issue, but it’s still a keeper, no other issues since I’ve owned it, has the the beat sound system , which is sounds awesome with Sirius xm radio. Smooth ride, comfortable, leather stitched interior, rear fold down seat, good gas mileage, plent of power, goes great at high speeds, remote start, with auto shut off after 10 minutes if you don’t drive away, blind spot monitoring, can’t lock the keys in the car by mistake, dial controls instead of all touch screen, heated seats, you can’t go wrong if you buy this car, even if something goes wrong it’s still a great ride.
Yes, Scott is knowledgeable mechanic wise, but very bias and close minded. His absolute way of thinking, tends to paint other brands with a broad brush.
my buddy who is better than any of these youtube mechanics by miles, hates all cars, when you put in 60-70 hours a week working on them, that will happen. All these yt supposed experts sound like the writers I used to work with, talk you into spending every penny you ever had in a shit box but couldn't fix a damn thing themselves less than shop time rates so they put them in the front. Those that can do those that cannot teach
Im about to purchase a 2014 300s with 119k miles for $12,488 USD looks very clean with clean title what you think. It’s the Best price I could find in my area for a clean title 300s
Mines is a 2015 awd 300c with 337k miles it’s been holding up pretty good. I had to replace the water pump 4x oil filter module 2x and drive shaft 2 x and transmission seal 1x and headlight 3x , belt and tensioner 5x since I brought it with 27k it’s been holding up pretty good all original parts. I change all fluids every 4K to 45k miles. All original parts
damn, that’s awesome man makes me feel better about the one i picked up with 200k miles. got a really good deal on it, and have been changing fluids out every weekend lol.
@@senorbonbon if it seems to be in good shape and has v8 i would say it’s worth it, just make sure you keep on top of fluid changes and it should be a good vehicle! one thing to watch out for is camshaft and lifter failure on the v8’s (watch videos on this if you haven’t already)
I just bought a 2014 300 c with 87k on it. Has all the bells and whistles on it. I haven't got to drive it too much but so far I love the thing! It doesnt get the best gas mileage compared to my previous vehicles though (however, I am 20, and may or may not have a lead foot!). It is a very comfortable car for taller people (I am 6'1"). It has plenty of power when it needs to but it is by no means uncontrollable. The steering is smooth as all get out in the AWD version. Although the ride is mostly smooth, as the video said, it does have some issues with suspension, and is starting to show through. The Uconnect and the navigation system have yet to give me trouble (knock on wood). The only issue I have run into when it comes to electronics is the aux and USB the center console of the car. The randomly come and go in terms of working. Online forums have indicated to me that these issues are fairly common. Hopefully not too hard and/or expensive of a fix. All in all, I really enjoy the car thus far, and if the reliability ratings on this cars are true, then I would recommend buying one ! :)
@@coryharner5306 mines still doing really well! Doing regular maintenance on it probably hasn’t hurt it at all, buts it’s treated me well so far and I love mine. It’s got around 106k on it now, so a bit of driving has been done. Which engine does the one you’re looking at have in it?
@@wyattswafford1829 it's got the 3.6L. We just picked it up 3 days ago. It's super smooth, sleek and makes me want to listen to light Jazz when I'm driving. We live in Colorado and it's a RWD but we also have a 4x4 so I'm thinking it will treat us very well. It's a sharp looking car. Black with chrome trim but the chrome isn't gawdy. I'm looking forward to putting some miles on it. If it turns into a great and reliable car we might be a Chrysler family from now on. Thank you for responding. I truly appreciate the interaction. I hope you have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
The UConect issues are to my understanding a 2015+ issue. In 2015 they "upgraded" to a more app based UConnect, generally the UAQ radio. This sucker is one large expensive unit and prone to issues. 11-14 have a simpler more robust system where the screen is just a screen and the unit is separate. While they have a few less features they're far more robust and the few failures that do happen with the screen are easily fixed.
In the market for a new car a lot of my days have been search deals on dodge chargers and challengers and 300s. I’ve been a fan of the 300 since 2004 it’s such so stylish and comfy and big guy friendly. I defiantly seen a few 300s sub100k miles for under $12k.
Just got a 2014 with 155k a few months ago, and love it. Gets good Gas, rides smooth and the little things that's wrong are easy fixes. Except that damn AC thing you mentioned where it gets Hot on one side and cool on the other. Camera situation I have to figure out as well.
bought a 2017 300 Limited brand new. It now has 29000 miles and has been out of warranty for about a year. A/C compressor began leaking oil and had to have it replaced for $1700. The driver's side strut is already making noise so I'll have to get both front struts replaced at around $600 to $800. These two issues should never have come up at the low mileage it has. Otherwise I really like the car. V-6 Pentastar motor is awesome!!!
I have a 2016 300S and it’s never needed anything replaced. Air conditioner is a bit weak so there’s probably a leak somewhere but other than that it’s been a fantastic car and she’s put up with a lot of abuse (being driven on nothing but the rim with a blown out tire TWICE). only 71K and that’s pretty much barely broken in for a Pentastar. love the car.
Same exact one I have! Been my favorite car since Middle School, I'm 28 now and I bought mine in 2021 for $4.5k and still needs new parts didn't replace all the parts when I should've but I am willing to keep her and fix her up make her brand new, then take her to car shows when I'm done hooking her up!! Haven't seen and drove my baby for 2 years cuz I need to re-register and get new parts, so she just sitting at my older sisters house, until I get it fixed and re-registered, miss my baby so much! I am so excited to fix her up and drive her again!! 😫💗💯🙏🏻🤍🙌🏻
260,000? Wow, that is a lot of miles! I have a 07 Charger R/T with just over 118,000 on it and this has been my daily driver for the last 12 years since buying it nearly new with 11,000 on it. And like the 05 Chrysler 300 with the 5.7 hemi that you demo'd in your other video; yes, I can relate to the leaky valve cover gasket (though mine is on the driver's side). Overall a great car that has needed very little. In fact, the only thing that is not original to the car (besides the tires and front ball joints) is the battery that I just replaced at the 10 year mark. Even the radiator, alternator, and headlights are original. Lastly, I have had to replace the AC blower motor twice! Yes, the original lasted about 9 years, and the replacement one from A-1 Auto lasted just under 2 years. Didn't have any issue with the "tick" or the fuel tank recall. Also, my power trunk release feature quit working about 2 years ago. Haven't made an effort to fix it, however, it most likely can be attributed to a broken wire where the harness comes out of the trunk lid. There is a video somewhere on RU-vid showing how to fix it. Maybe I'll give it a go this summer.
Sike Chrysler engines are so unreliable. They built the engine with a serious imperfection the rod will definitely start knockingat around 150k. If you don’t believe me google it. Chrysler has gone to beyond shit ever since fiat bought them.
I'd that an S??? I did not see the S emblem or the beats radio. I'm looking into a 2014 s with 168000 miles. The car fax states no real damage or maintenance issues. Should I purchase it or not? The asking price is 12,000 and I know I can get it down down because 12000 for 168000 miles is fucking ridiculous!!! So should I buy or not?? Help me out guys.
I think your right the 2014 S I've seen usually has black bezels around the taillights/headlights, Beats audio, no chrome, and 18 inch chrome rims. This one looks like it has the base original 17 inch rims and the BIG thing is no backup camera????? That came standard on all the Limited, S, and C model trims on 2011-2014. I don't think this guy even knew what he was reviewing
U are right I don't drive the 2014 that much but me actuator went out on the passenger side 2 weeks ago and I'm try in to get it fixed I bout mine in 2015 it was 6 months old..great car I really like it
Toplineracer, are you still there? Thank you for this video information. I have my 2014 Chrysler 300 @ 83,500 miles. Love it still. You mentioned something I have a question about?
Spencer i just bought a mint 300cSRT8 2006 from a Piolt in Calgary lol over 1200 mile round trip to pick up! I would like to send you some pictures my friend! Appreciate you Bro! Luv&Peace Sean&family Cheers from Sask Canada!
The exact same one I have, needs some remodeling and touch ups. Other then that tbh I Love my car, I just need to be my own mechanic, cuz I'm tired of these mechanics over charging me.
How much better is the interior in these 300s than a charger/challenger in similar price range, if any? Fell in love with 300s after having one for a rental, even though by no means I'm a Mopar fan
I owned a 2012 chrysler 300 limited for 26 months, traded it in 1 month ago. I want to chime in to add some problems i saw on my car. Mileage is a killer with these cars, especially for fleet vehicles. I had to replace the transmission, engine heads (pentastar tick) , ball joints, tie rods, control arms, brakes, tail lights, alternator, brakes, tires, air bag sensors under seat, cruise control button, headlight switch, passenger side mirror, and the exhaust, most repairs being under an extended warranty I purchased my car at 108105 miles and sold it with 126058 miles after 26 months. When i sold my car, the transmission was failing again, the blend door actuators both were in need of replacing, the airbag light was on, and the bluetooth had stopped working completely. My only advice to perspective buyers of the chrysler 300 is get one with a warranty, you will need it.
I can add a very common issue. This car doesn't have it but the 11-14 cars with leather dash all fail. The leather pulls apart at the seem close to the windshield. Not a huge issue, but ugly, kinda pricey to fix and Chrysler hasn't done anything about it. The Jeeps Cherokees of the same years do it as well, but Jeep extended the warranty to cover it. I haven't fixed mine yet, I'm told best to find wait till something happens to the windshield then find a glass and upholstery place to remove the windshield and fix the dash. If you have one with a leather dash and it hasn't pulled up yet get or thank a windshield sunshade. FWIW weathertech makes custom fit sunshades that work quite well.
my 2014 300 w/96k on the odometer. also has that SUPER ANNOYING crease in the center console material by the shift lever in the EXACT same spot. I CANNOT get it fixed, without a full replacement. Good to know it exists in other examples as well.
Hey man what do you think about getting a Chrysler as a first car? I’m thinking of getting 2017 and up. People say they’re bad cars but man they look so sick I would also daily it so I don’t know man!
Some information in this video that needs clarification: Rocker arm & cylinder head issues existed on all Pentastar 3.0, 3.2 & 3.6 V6 models until the Gen III redesign in 2016 when they added a few new features to the engine (variable valve lift is one of them) and fixed pretty much all other common issues with the engine other than the plastic oil filter/cooler housing that cracks when it’s overtorqued. Secondly, the headlight issue isn’t common. I’ve been on forums and i’ve owned one of these cars since new for 7 years and this is the first time i’ve ever heard of it being an issue. The entire car is very solidly put together in general. Also, the ZF 8HP (845RE in V6 models, 8HP70 in V8 models) is a very proven and reliable automatic transmission (commonly claiming the title of best auto in existence due to efficiency, near DCT-like shift times, and reliability).
@@discipline3318 The Hemi 5.7L V8 is one of the best V8 engines in production. Just be sure not to let them idle too long or else they will eat the cam because the lifter bearings seize on earlier models. 2017+ they redesigned the roller bearings inside the lifters to be stronger so that Hemi tick pretty much stops occurring even with high idle time. You can replace the lifters in earlier Hemis with these lifters to fix the ticking issue. The only other issue with them is the fact exhaust manifold studs break inside the head and can cause a ticking on start that goes away once the engine is at OE temp. The NAG1 5 speed automatic is a fantastic automatic transmission, one of my personal favorites. Extremely reliable, pretty good gear ratio spread (if you have a LX platform car i recommend going with a 3.06 Getrag or the 3.90 Charger differential to maximize torque multiplication) and has the added benefit over the 8 speed of being serviceable. That combo will last for a very long time with no real maintenance concerns.
Hi just saw your video I have a 2012 300c hemi 5.7 got 111,450 miles on it it's at the dealership now because of the air conditioning door system is cranking this is the second time . My clock on the dash lite went out the dealership wants $300.00 to replace the whole clock. Do you feel it a good buy ?
HI I WAS LOOKING AT BUYING A 2011 CHRYSLER 300 FOR $19,998 CDN. DOLLARS IT'S A LITTLE HIGH I KNOW BUT THE MILEAGE WAS ONLY 35,000 KM NOT MILES SO WHAT DO YOU THINK....
I think your right the 2014 S I've seen usually has black bezels around the taillights/headlights, Beats audio, no chrome, and 18 inch chrome rims. This even looks like it has the base original 17 inch rims and the BIG thing is no backup camera????? That came standard on all the Limited, S, and C model trims on 2011-2014. Theres a 2014 Chrysler 300 uptown edition with 269k on it and it says highway miles and the interior and everything is a bit better than this car I'm wondering if I should buy it? Its 5900$
Sir... Ive had my 2014 for 3 month's. I live in Minnesota where its freezing. I didn't start my car for 2 week's and when I drove it it got a little hot. Well it was more in the middle temperature then it ever has been. Should I be concerned?
I have the same car year color every thing sometimes it won’t start push the button and brakes dash light up but no crank battery good for two weeks it’s start’s whenever it wants to but now it won’t
@@KylePetersonDmaster223 that is not true at all. It was optional until 2015, when it became standard. Do your research bud. You could pick the 5 speed or 8 speed from 2011-14 on the v6 on any lx car.
I’ve seen more than a few dodge rams with the 3.6 pentastar that have well over 300k and still run fine. These are not bad engines regardless of what Scotty Kilmer says
My '06 300 Hemi just turned over 250K, so yes, the Hemi is stout...repairs have been alternator at 200K and oil pressure sensor. Everything else still stock and running perfect.
I'm honestly not sure (the car is torn apart now, it was used as parts for a rebuild). It was used as a limo since new so that the reason for the high miles.
@@OneAdrenaline is someone supposed to keep a timer and track every hour they spend in their vehicle? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that question being asked that’s all.
Found a 2012 300s with 290k km. It is currently safetied but the high mileage has me skeptical. They're asking 6900obo(Cad). Buy or pass?..(please don't be a dick about it)
I wouldn't be too concerned with the mileage. I am not familiar with pricing in your area so I can't really comment on if it's a good deal. As long as it's been maintained it should be reliable for a while yet.
