When Remus VI came out I rushed to the WhiskeyTubes for reviews. About everyone said is was not as good as V. Then I looked at the reviewers who BLINDED it, and most of them ranked it above V. YMMV.
Agree with MM BEP and would add MM 46 Cask Strength. I buy Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Strength whenever I can find it. I have found 4 bottles in 2023. I was lucky and found JD 10 Year, but have not been able to find JD 12 Year at MSRP. Stagg is a definite buy at MSRP. John J Bowman Single Barrel is fantastic and hard to find, so grab it if you see it. 🥃
Out of your list, I have Frey Ranch, BEP, JD Sinatra,Remus, and SBBP. In my area Weller,Stagg,JD 10 &12,and Four Gate don't go less than $300 and a hard pass. If I see Old Forester SBBS, its going home with me. Overall, good video and cheers!
Thank you! And yes, it's a real shame what's happened to the price of these bottles. It's caused a wake of so much pocket stuffing along all the middle men it's made these bottles almost ridiculous to get at this point. I've heard *rumors* distillers will be producing more soon and ease up on some of these issues, we'll see.... we'll see.....
Remus VI is legit! Don’t sleep on it. Most crushable bourbon I’ve ever had. Delicious stuff. P.S. I had bottles of III & V, both amazing, especially V, but VI is no slouch!🥃🤘😎
I had the regular Remus and didn't care for it, so doctored it with a tart and sweet fruit to draw the astringency out of it. Then it was wonderful in OF's with that sweet fruit infused syrup. As to what I used, that is my secret.
Totally agree about some of the recent JD products! I was really impressed with the Bonded and Triple Mash, both the quality and price point. I think a lot of people sleep on the Jack Daniel's stuff because they think they're above it or it's "uncool" or something. I grabbed two bottles of Sinatra Select a couple years ago. I wish I'd have looked harder for a Sinatra Century, but I think those are nearly impossible to find now. I never got to try it. Thanks for this vid. I hadn't heard of a few of these, but now I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Frey Ranch is hard to find, they are very small. Stagg I can find but just not at a price anyone with a working brain would pay for it $400...my guy offered to me at $300, nope!
My buy on sight bottles are High West Dram (I have 10 different ones rn) prisoner's share, bourye, New Riff Winters, jack 10, jack sb bp rye, makers bep and EHT Rye
Cool list. Some of those sound super interesting, and are unavailable in Kansas. But I'd love to try. *I now really want to get a bottle of that Four Gate. I have a killer store pick from Nashville, but again, Four Gate isn't available here, and it's unfortunate.
Well, I am in Nevada. That bottle of Frey Ranch is now at the top of my list! The distillery in Fallon is only like an hour from Reno.... hmmm I think I know what I'm doing this weekend.
I've seen 2 of those bottles this year the MM BEP and the JDSBBP. The BEP I was a little surprised to find. But the JDSBBP i can find pretty much anytime, and it has become my daily drinker. I wish i could find most of those other bottles you have. Things ill be looking for that Ill have a chance at and will buy on sight will be ECBP B and C releases. Larceny BP B and C releases. The second release of Berheim BP. Another JDSBBP rye. Ill have my fingers crossed for WFP, OWA, Stagg, any EHT, and the JD 12 year but i'm not going to hold my breath while i look. Cheers
Thanks for the comment, I agree 100% with everything you said, down to me looking for the larceny BP B series as well. I still haven't found a B523 in my area yet.
@brandonbenjamin1 I actually just got home from a hunt and just sat down. I think I scored big today! I got a Larceny BP B523, an Elijah Craig BP 523. And the one I'm really excited about is the EHTBP! I'm gonna open the Larceny and EC tonight. You guys been finding anything? Cheers
@@PNW_bourbon_buds wow those are GREAT scores! Yes, we've been hunting as well, we've been tied up getting for our first live stream this friday! more hunting videos soon for sure!
Might be nice to mention price range on some of these. I know Stagg and Weller full proof are hard to find near me, some of the rest I’m not familiar with.
I don't really understand the notion that a bottle could be terrible on the neck pour but a week later taste great. Twelve years in a barrel being exposed to oxygen but thay magic air in peoples houses, that is that magic air! Lol sorry. Rant over. Good list buddies. Cheers 🥃
These seem to be more and more frequent (at least in our area.) I've heard rumors bottle scarcity will be easing up soon. Regardless, these are all great bottles, every one in this video I've found in the wild on the shelf, highly recommended if you find one. But, you make a good point we should to this same thing on VERY findable bottles, I'll make that video and shout you out on it. Thanks for watching.
@@Whiskey_Wisdom sounds great,I would like to add that is folks that are stuck with state sanctioned run liquor stores are out of luck for the most part. Everything is a raffle which is unfortunate, and the secondary market for these products are ridiculously outrageous. Love the content! Keep it up!
Gatsby reserve is probably my all time fav. bottle and it hovers around 90 proof. We were mainly trying to find bottles that are around that most likely won't be soon and in our opinion worthy of being on someone's shelf! That being said, the proofy ones do tend to trend higher for us for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting, we really appreciate all feedback!!
This is a fair point. We have recently tried to take this into account with a budget bottle series. You definitely don't need to break the bank to sip good juice.
"Buy them all" is why they are allocated, and why no one can find them. Frustrating to hear that. Even when I get to travel out of state, nothing is on the shelf.
I was just being tongue in cheek. I do understand that allocation is frustrating for all whiskey lovers that want to get a chance to try great bottles without breaking the bank.
I have to agree, have a back up bottle to have one cracked but then, let the next guy enjoy it. No one needs 7 bottles of whatever allocated bottle. Unicorns may be a little different.
Ah yes, keep perpetuating buying for no other reason than keeping it from the next guy who might actually drink it instead of either flipping it for profit or keeping as an unopened trophy. Let's clear those shelves baby!
@@Whiskey_Wisdom ASSume. :-) I have 10 of the 2023BEP. I bought one and liked it so much I bought another every time I went to the store. Some of the local military bases didn't allocate them and many customers were looking for tater stuff so it sat on the shelf. Found a stash in a bottom shelf, shoved in the back, so bought 3 or 4 more, making it 1 open and 9 in reserve. First bottle gone, now 2nd of 10 opened. At my age, they should carry me thru to where I stop drinking due to age and health. For now I enjoy tasting the largish bar I've acquired and continue to acquire. I have probably 60 different, unique bourbons with some having backups.
@@Whiskey_Wisdom Done. Pic was when I had 8 unopened and one unopened. I could break them out of the closet, unbag, set them back up, and add the opened and recently emptied. But yes, I had 10 at the same time with 1 open and 9 in reserve. A buddy in the neighborhood liked it enough to buy 2 bottles. He won a William LaRue Weller and had the chance to sell it for 1200. He considered it, then said, he'd regret not tasting it and not knowing what it tasted like the rest of his life as he knew he'd never get a chance to buy another WLW. So he declined the offer and cracked it. Before he could swallow, instant regret. Out of all his collection, BEP came to mind and he realized it was far better than WLW. It still haunts him 2 months later.
@@hoobeydoobey1267 Holy cow you weren't kidding!!! I'm totally bringing this up on a future episode!!! I had a similar experience with Brandon recently, I went for the Blanton's gold, and he snagged a WFP bottle. Instant regret when I sipped his bottle.
Sorry but I can't relate I live in PA no idea what you're talkin about stag ,J d12vr ,Weller antique proof 102 proof what huh I don't understand that stuff we don't have that stuff around here understand your list but doesn't relate to me
"Buy these bottles on sight", guess we are a bunch of Stevie Wonders walking around cause A. You won't walk in and find most of those and B. IF you do somehow even see it, you won't be able to buy it or the price will be insane.
Totally depends on the area my man. Every one of these except the frey ranch I found on the shelf. Also, just a heads up, this video is titled "if you see them buy them." It's a guide to let people know these bottles are not commonly found so if you see them, snag them.
