I have the LTD TE 1000 Black Blast and have zero complaints. It looks and sounds badass! Love the sandblast finish and couldn't be happier. Thanks for the great video rundown. It's difficult to find videos that talk about the TE 1000!

My buddy has the Charvel and it plays gorgeously. However I’m just not a Tremolo guy and love Passive pick ups. I need a guitar that can play heavy but also have balanced spanky cleans with push/pull. I really like the TE-1000!

The charvel, I own. I play in a band called Roses Are Dead, and I gotta say, the tone is MONSTEROUS. The open cores SLAM. The tuning stability is out of this world too. I do dive-bombs and all that and it still manages to stay in tune. Also, the action is buttery smooth, best shredstick I've ever owned, and I've owned some high end Jackson's from 2014/16 Luminlays are also an amazing touch

i picked up a cool Squier "hot-rodded" Tele model 18 months, the roasted neck caught my eye for a "cheap" Squire, it was the first time i'd come across one, rural Australia is not known for being fast receiving new guitar technology and features. back in the late 80's when i was in high school there were a good many Jacksons around, but *very* few Charvels. not only because there were fewer of the Chavel "hot-rodded classic Fender" models than the Jacksons, and that the Charvels tended to a higher entry level. a trend they have decided to revive it seems, today's Charvels *entry point" is the Joe Duplantier (Gojira) white Tuxedo Tele right at what i'd call the start of mid-tier pricing $850US -ish. now i've never been one to play a signature series *seriously* unless it brings something unique to the table, not just slap a name onto a repro of the guitarists favorite specced production model (i'm looking at YOU Jim Root) with, maybe, some pups that are non-standard "personal" favorite design and output from a guitarist who actually knows how to build a pick-up and uses altered ones or customs. most of us just know what pup combos we are into right now, and most famous guitarists are the same. but i would, and will, play a Duplantier Tux Tele (i'm getting one soon) because *always* wanted one and was gutted when i found out the great Squier Contemporary Tele i bought so quickly came in 3 colors, dark metallic green (mine), sandy gold color that looks really good with the light-roast fingerboard, and lightly metallic pure white with the black hardware and binding (real on the neck, painted on the body) that all 3 have. oh, matching painted headstock face with "Squier" branded silver in *real* raised lettering that is covered with so much clear Poly that although you can clearly see the raised decal, when you run your finger over it, it is smooth. the body also has a THICK Poly layer, which is less than ideal, but i got it for the neck, every other part is expendable. and i'm getting used to the "brightness" of the guitar, even tho it has a "hot-rail" bridge, PAF style neck pups, it's clean tones "chirp" like a "baby Tele" because of the way thick Poly behaves acoustically. at least modern Poly is better than the gross shit from the 80's and 90's. i prefer a natural wood (or stained) satin finish REGARDLESS of the guitar and may all pick-guards go to h*ll, that isn't pick-wear, that's music, that isn't dis-coloration, that's a life lived full and vibrant. so the Squier came in Tuxedo white. F#%@. so i started looking into any alternatives in or around the price of the Tele i got for a Tux Tele, not expecting much, i thought i'd have to get another Squier the same in white (no big deal, the neck of the green was worth what payed for the guitar, and it's "slant-single coil/humbucker" arrangement is versatile, it wouldn't take a lot to get them sounding radically different) when i stumbled on a YT video about Charvel and the Duplantier was on the thumbnail. i clicked the video expecting it to be high-end stuff only to find that the Tux was the entry-level Charvel and was only a little more than the Squier and was appointed beautifully for the price, even has a near-black ebony fingerboard with no fret markers (at that price, probably stained Macassar to get that dark. that's fine, Macassar Ebony is great fingerboard wood, i have it on an Ibanez). it's neck and head are mahogany, the body mahogany adjacent. and it has a stop-tail. i dig the string dynamics and response of a stop-tail. very immediate and articulate. Gibsony/Gretschy Goodness. the mahogany construction is also very Gibson/Gretsch, Fenders are made of "bright" woods like maple, stuffed full of pick-ups too thin for their output and foisted on an unsuspecting customer base with complete disregard to the Geneva Convention. i only play signature series if they have something different and interesting about them. all mahogany white Tux Tele with a stop-tail fits that bill nicely. the pups in it are dogsh*t but i was thinking Nazgul/Sentient so i'll check out the Pegasus now. pretty sure i'm gonna get this Tele as well because i also prefer passives and hated actives until the Fluence Modern. Fishmans are the only actives i'll use, but until now i didn't know they could emulate a single coil so well, the moderns aren't great with cleans no matter the voicing, but the review i watched before this one i was blown away by the single voicing. it sounded like a little single coil that didn't quite manage to screech unpleasantly. i *personally* can't use Fender single-coils properly, never could, i can't make em sound good, clean or dirty. but i *could* use the tone i heard in that pick-up for cleans. as i've gotten older i have been chasing the "clean tone" i never bothered with in 20 years, i was devout cult-of-the-PAF-humbucker. now my favorite pup combo for cleans (it's all about middle position) is a "hot" 'Tron in the bridge and a p90 in the neck. the new "Broadtrons" are good because they have the short but powerful dynamic range of a PAF and the "sparkle" of a Filtertron. when blended with a big, round, clean p90 neck it hits *just* right. and, of course Trons and p90s are nothing alike, sound almost completely opposite when in the bridge and neck respectively, which *amplify* each pups strong points, which happens to be the other pups weak points. you can dirty it right up too, just not as far as each pup can distort on it's own. dirty 'Tron is "early The Who" and dirty p90 is "early Sabbath" the "Holy Grail" of this pick-up arrangement is, TV Jones Powertron Plus (bridge only, hottest 'Tron TVJ make, developed as a special order for Billy Gibbons) and a "T90" neck pick-up, a TVJ p90.

About the neck pickups with 22-24 Fretboards. It actually does make a difference in the sound. Having it closer to the bridge adds more treble and attack while having 22 frets sounds warmer and softer. One fix I've seen around is single-coil-shaped humbuckers in the neck position, pushed right up against the 24th Fret. It helps keep that warmth and saturation. Personally I think it just depends on how much you want that sound. I know I like having it for more cleaner stuff or with coil splits, but when I'm shredding, it doesn't make that much of a difference
@nikaxeguitar
@nikaxeguitar Год назад
Thats super interesting. So almost like an Ibanez rg565? I think that HS setup is really cool looking anyways!
@BraydenM014
@BraydenM014 Год назад
@@nikaxeguitar the 565 and most of Joe Satriani's sig models. Honestly I really like the aesthetic of it as well. I know some players like Warren demartini, and george lynch put a straight single coil there and that's also really cool. More useful for cleans though, imo

I heard a DiMarzio Area 61 (hum-free single) on a 24 fret guitar and it had some decent depth to it in the video. But I returned a DK24 HSS because the pickups all sounded the same, and the 2 singles were hummers. I don't know why there should be a 'true single coil' as opposed to a hum-canceled single-coil if we're already dealing with a 24 fret. That doesn't make any sense to me. Neither does a reverse headstock on a tele. I can't get used that, it's ugly, whereas on a strat it looks sort of cool.

Good video... normally I'd go LTD without thinking twice as an ESP fanboy who likes Korean Ltd's. BUT, I owned a SN-1000 with the 17-22 scallop section and wasn't a fan. All things equal, I'd normally default to the guitar with stainless frets, but in this case with me not a fan of the scallops, charvel is my pick. Can't go wrong with either though.
@nikaxeguitar

Great video. Sometimes you don't need an hour an a half of sound samples. Just someone's thoughts. I'm not a shreder. More like a turtle. I have a Charvel DK 22 and lots of other guitars. I seem to gravitate to the Charvel and a Gibson 1965 SG (original) when I want to turtle. I like the option of something with low action, easy to play with a PACish tone option so I'll likely give the Charvel T a try. It's all opinion and preference. Nothing wrong with either. Turtle On!!!

SS frets wins it for me. But also, the LTD is a classic tele shaped body - if you look at the charvel its clear that the cut away is further down the fretboard than a normal tele and the LTD have. For some reason, being a tele fan boy I can't not see it and it looks off to me because of that. The shape just isn't quite right and I can't unsee it lol... although u love the features etc and u love charvel, I wish they kept it with the normal angle and distance from the top section where they both meet the fretboard that is on the LTD or a normal tele. Just pointing that out as nobody else has mentioned it.
