I like this type of video 🤗 I’m super dry but still can’t do the Chanel. It doesn’t sit down well over the amounts of spf I use summer or winter for me. I like to hear how people evaluate foundations.

Do you wait enough until the spf is absorbed by the skin before applying foundation? Or the spf sits on top of the skin no matter how long you wait? This foundation it doesn’t dry completely because is designed for dry to normal skin and if it is applied on top of greasy thick spf it will not sit down because it’s not possible due to the thick layer of spf. That’s why when people review spf we hear things like “this is good under foundation “ or “it doesn’t go well under foundation”. Also if a foundation is a gel formula it’s recommended to use an spf gel formula or if the foundation is liquid formula the spf must be the same formula and so on. So many times it’s about what we apply under the foundation, not the foundation itself. I hope it’s helpful and Martina will give you her opinion as well.

@@alya27092 Thanks for your message 💜I live in a high UV area and I apply mineral spf with high spf. Fenty is amazing for me. I’m a Chanel stan and I didn’t hear anyone say this so I purchased twice!

@@alya27092How much time is a “reasonable” amount of time to let it sit? I find mine doesn’t set even after 10-15 min.

@@kathleenp3135 Do a test when you are home and apply this foundation on top of your face cream (let10 min between) and if the foundation looks good it means your spf is not compatible with the foundation. In this case you have to change one of them. If I spend all day (actually “all day” for me means few hours) in direct sunlight I don’t wear foundation, just spf and pressed powder on top (I have one for dry skin) followed by a blush. This happens extremely rare. I never go to beach or pool but if you go you should not wear makeup. If I go to work, visiting friends/family, shopping etc I don’t apply tones of spf (kind of same quality like a face cream) and my foundation is fine. On top of foundation I apply powder and blush and I wear sunglasses. I don’t have sun spots and my face has the same colour all year (I live in Sydney, Australia). My skin is light neutral, B20 in Chanel foundation or Alabaster in Chantecaille future skin foundation. So this is what I am doing and I am not saying you should do the same. I know that we suppose to apply much more spf (glazed donuts look) indoor or outdoor, no matter where as long as it’s daytime. I don’t do that and nobody around me looks like a greasy mess (not even people on the street), so people who are doing that probably live in a different dimension. And again now I’m talking about every day life, not beach or outdoor swimming pool situation.

Thanks Martina! What a super interesting video idea, well done! I was riveted! All these products are gorgeous on you. What a spot on Color match the lip sticks were. I have all these products accept for the powders. I bout the makeup forever one but used it with the pad and hated it, now I want to try it with the brush! Thanks again.

Companies blame transport costs & Australia’s smaller market. Apple, sports shoes companies… all charge a premium. Maybe they’re also trying to make up for losses under Covid? They think Australians are wealthy- but folk are struggling in the post pandemic world.

Haha yeah they really are. It depends on the country obviously, I know our minimum wage is way higher than the US but I don't think the median wage is. I think that is on par or US is higher but honestly I am not educated in that so take it with a grain of salt haha Our prices have gotten even more insane from inflation in the last year though xx

I fell for all things Chanel because of you ❤ I have both of these foundations in the same shades, and have EXACTLY the same experience. I love the Chanel because it's just effortless and wears beautifully. Fenty starts beautifully but cakes up over the day and feels a bit heavier. For reference, I have normal to dry skin more mature skin. The Chanel bronzers are just wow. I got the light coral and the medium rose, they both work on my skintone. The light coral is a bit lighter and peachy, perfect for winter times, the medium rose is perfect for the summer when I have a little more tan. Very expensive but totally worth every penny, like the foundation!

Same! I tried the Fenty a few times and while i love how it looks in the beginning, at days end it just does not look good. I have normal to dry and more mature skin as well. I have heard that the new Elf foundation ($8 US) is very similar to the Fenty so may give that a shot.

I got the Wet n Wild tinted hydrator and find that it's very similar to the Fenty! Also under $10 ❤ I alternate with that to make the Chanel purchase last longer...

Tho I love Chanel makeup but all their base products I tried breaks me out. The only product that is kind to me is their No 1 foundation ❤ n I keep repurchasing. You look so lovely! ❤

Very helpful video!🙂 I have the same preferences except the lipsticks. I don’t know how is the one from Lisa Eldridge but I don’t like the Westman Atelier lipstick. Also the Armani powder is too warm and it’s Made in China. These two things are a big no for me. Thanks for sharing!🙂

I love the MUFE powder foundation so am glad you compared it to the ND one, as i would like to try that next. For the lipsticks, I think nothing compares to the Lisa Eldridge true velvets, they trump all lipstick formulas for me

100% agree about your thoughts Chanel vs Fenty foundation) I have dry/combo/mature skin and Chanel stays beautifully glowing and smooth the whole day while Fenty gets to every wrinkle and imperfection on the face😂😂😂

I'm so glad you said this, I've felt alone on this topic - the Fenty was so terrible on me... as you say, every single imperfection on my face was outlined for all to see, from literal application it looked awful & did not get better from there, I had to throw it out because I have other foundations that are wonderful & the Fenty was so so bad, that was money in the bin (we can't do returns in Australia).

I just said the same thing above to another comment! Fenty settles so badly into all my imperfections as the day goes on! it's a no go for me! Glad I just had a pretty good sample (enough for several wears and a true test) and didn't invest in the full bottle.

Yay! Thebperfect video for my morning routing! Getting my latte ready now! ❤❤❤❤ love to hear your thoughts as I recently bought several of these items! I really want the Chanel and Fenty foundations! Not sure if the glowyiness will wprk for me tho! 🫣 I'm loving my Armani bronzer and my Chanel bronzer trio although I never mix mine. I may have to try that soon. The Armani does lose that gold shimmer after several uses and then it has a nicer glowy finish that I love, but yes the gold shimmer topcoat is annoying. Both Saie vronzers are super nice too! I feel the liquid one can be built up nicely as well. And those Westman Atelier lipsticks are so soft and moussey feeling. I love them. I dint have anything from Lisa Eldridge because I prefer buying products instore where I can swatch and see colors and textures in person, but they sound lovely.

Great comparisons. I think the Chanel looked much better. Maybe it is just the big screen I’m viewing it on but I have seen a difference and in my experience during the day it only gets worse so I would go with the Chanel. I don’t have any of those but I had a sample of the Chanel last year and liked it but never trusted the one time test because I get oily and normally don’t tend to use this kind of foundation
