Trent, thanks for sharing this content with us! My wife and I are buying an existing, service-based business, and I am working on starting a service-based aviation medicine business. We've been wandering how to find inspiration to create a product-business (motivated by your prior video). Now, we will be daydreaming about and searching for opportunities to buy a product-based business (and maybe even an aviation business)! A big HELLO from CYQT. 👍🇨🇦👍 Great video Trent. I Just SOLD my business 7 months ago. Now in the process of selling our 3 unit building. LOVED being a business owner. 19 years of ownership, 12 years with a business partner, final 7 years I owned it independently. Now 63, fulfilling a life long dream of learning to fly ... just for recreation. Owning a business is loooong hours, but so REWARDING. Would DEFINITELY do it again. 👍🙏👍 Now my focus is getting my PPL and starting to fly my beautiful Avid Magnum. Love your video content, always inspirational, educational and entertaining. I would love to hear more talks about this. All I do in you tube is watch successful entrepreneurs talking about biz and Airplanes. I have been an AOG tech for 24 years and Im working on getting my pilot license to eventually open a CRS 145 and a 135. My dream/goal is to build a 145 and sell it and keep the 135. The good thing is that I can fix them if they brake 😊. Let see how it goes is a lot of work. Great content! Thanks.

I use planes owned by others. If I was starting again, I’d buy my own….buy I don’t have enough CFI runway ahead of me now for it to be worthwhile.

If I was buying a business and I didn't have adequate financial background I would hire a CPA who is familiar with the operation of a small business in order to review financials and help with due diligence. I would not rely solely on the the underwriter to do that job! I personally wouldn't even purchase a business unless I had the financial experience. I personally wouldn't buy a business, except for one exception: the idea of buying a Part 135 is a great idea, as the effort to get the Part 135 certificate seems to be quite onerous. Another option would be to buy into a company and be a partner/part owner of the business: less capital required and the workload would be less (and maybe more fun too!). In fact this would be the ultimate pilot job if I had the energy to run a business while working as a pilot (for that business).
