Right on. I use those aerosol can 'First Alert' Fire extinguishers. They are not considered by the letter of the law to be a real extinguisher, but they work real well on all fires, (That's all I care) and are very compact. I tested them out on my lawn, and I was very sold on them. When the park rangers check out our boat they approve them.
@jrhgswrhfg While it's true that there are other extinguishing agents (CO2, halon replacements) and there are other clases of fire (class D, class K), the vast majority of boaters use dry chemical extinguishers just like the ones shown in the video. If you own a wooden boat, I'd recommend a Tri-Class extinguisher, but the Coast Guard only specifies a Class B model. Boats with gas inboards or sterndrives might consider an engine-room extinguisher as an additional precaution.
White is simply the chosen traditional color of marine fire extinguishers. However, different colors can also represent the different fires they can put out.
