In this video we explain the Coast Guard requirements and regulations for flares/visual distress signals when operating a recreational boat. For more info visit www.westmarine.com
Trying to understand the rules and how they apply to my boat. Boat: 13 ft aluminum, outboard motor, portable fuel tanks. Requirements as I understand: Life jackets, throwable floatation, whistle/horn, navigation lights If I understand correctly, my size boat and outboard with removable tanks negates the extinguisher REQUIREMENT(not saying I don’t have one, but not required by law), also the flares are negated?
US Coast Guard's minimum requirements may not be enough for a boat to operate lawfully as safety equipment requirements vary by location. We recommend that boaters consult a West Marine store in their area for assistance or contact the local regulatory body.
