Keeping it real here, and this is just my opinion. It is a sweet sight, with some thought out features; however for me personally i cant justify the price for said features. I have a RL1 single pin slider and it has everything I could ask of it and it was 450 or so dollars cheaper even after taxes paid on the sight. Redline customer service is EXCELLENT as well. I love your channel brother. Mad respect and keep doing your thing. Ill always stay plugged in and continue to enjoy your content. Much love sir.
PROBLEMS WITH UV SLIDER and it's warranty; my slider arrived from the manufacturer with the two middle screws loose on the gear track and the plastic track having a distortion where the middle screws had been tightened; this means you either have screws that back out and contact the slider or a slider that will bind and be hard to slide due to the distortion caused by the screws. It was discovered within the first 20 shots when one screw backed out and wouldn't allow the slider to slide. I contacted UV within my trial period, and they refused to exchange it, they required me to pay to ship it back for repair. Upon receipt they agreed the gear track was the problem and replaced it and then held my UV Slider hostage until i paid a $15 repair fee. When I stated this was a warranty item caused by a manufacturing defect and i received it this way, they said the UV Slider does not come with the same warranty everything else does (which is not mentioned anywhere on their website, the website says all products come with a 1-year 100 percent warranty). I've been a HUGE UV fan and have always been treated well by them and never had a problem with any of their products until now. It is my opinion that if you don't stand behind the product to be free from a manufacturing defect then you shouldn't be selling it especially for this price point, and if the UV Slider does not come with a warranty, then you need to state this up front or train your support staff, so consumers who have legit problems with defects are treated better. I also requested to talk to someone on the phone multiple times and as of the time of writing this never received a call. I fully support that this is a new product that may have some unexpected problems they need to work out and I would have no issues with UV needing to make some changes/repairs to resolve it... but i expected them to stand behind it and fix it w/o telling me it doesn't have a warranty like their other products and i have to pay to fix it. Ironically, I received an email asking for a product review which stated they want honest reviews even if bad so they could improve. I had asked for a supervisor to call me so i could share my experience w/o going public but nobody called. I'm going to post this in a few places hoping it will get to someone more senior in the organization in case their customer service is not sharing how they are handling problems such as mine.
I just got a phase 4 and ended up buying a bow press because the pro shops just couldn't get anything right. Shooting better than I ever have now, and probably getting a slider after this archery season to start shooting longer distances and shooting tac! Can't wait to see the new bow even though I'll be shooting the phase 4 for at least 3 or 4 years
I appreciate your honest assessment of the sights. I plan on a new bow next year, and really hope the UV holds up to rough conditions, as currently it is my top choice. I will be keeping an eye out for the long term wear and tear review.
Too many gadgets for a hunting sight for me. Black gold mountain lite dual track 3 pin does the job for me. If I was a target shooter I’d look into these more. I’ve always said if the Animal doesn’t come within 25 yards it’s not ready to die. And to get a shooting lane or shot opportunity further in the thick north Idaho mountains doesn’t happen often.
Hey Dan, great content as always. Have to comment and say I've been running the CBE TREK for over a year in all walk and stalk hunting here in South Africa and I've literally pulled this sight through the bush - A LOT - crawled with it and everything and the "flimsy" sight tape pins have never bent or moved an nothing has even moved or been an issue. Honestly think this is one of the most underrated sights.
I bought a HHA Tetra Ryz like 3 weeks before the UV Slider dropped... If I knew it was coming out I may have waited and bought the UV. But the HHA is still super super nice!!
Wanted an HHA but wish they offered in a 3 pin vertical picture, also wish id had both micro adjust for windage, elevation, and micro pins. The CBE V3 has my attention especially for so reasonably priced, but i think they need to iron out couple small wrinkles from what i read. Currently have black gold
Good info…but if you dont trust it…i wouldnt take it into the field. Only issue with the video is the socks with crocs……who does that? Good luck this Elk season!!!!!
For a personal experience, the CBE has been the one of the most durable bow sights I have used. I have tossed my bow out of excitement before and after an inspection of the bow to make sure it was ok, I checked the sight and the sight still held zero
This probably depends on individual eyesight but red pins flare a lot more for me than yellow or green. Before you spend $$ on these make sure pin color(s) work for your eyes.
Man.....I've just looked at new archery equipment for the first time in nearly 15 years. I'm still shooting a DXT, Trophy Ridge single pin and an ultra rest. Prices have gone completely off the globe. I mean wtf. I'll just gave to stay with what i have.
Black Gold for sureeee needs this exact sight, with all the features and micro adjustability. Because it is incredibly fair priced, but with black golds pin fibers and design, and patented pin shade cover it would be awesome and much needed!!! 🙏🏼
I love this site. I was sold the R hand offset for my Matthews but it made me push the windage all the way left so I was wanting to go back to the straight mount. I have never completely mounted a sight before. The first and 2nd axis seems straight forward. Can you do a video on the "door trick"?
@@adamhowes3876 personally I don't think it's that heavy. I don't notice any top heavy tip from mine at all. I don't know if maybe the dovetail mount version is heavier as I have the direct mount.
Almost everything in the archery industry is over priced and similar specs to the cheaper versions of what ever product you select. People just need to buy what they like the look of and believe will make them shoot better because it comes down to the archer at the end of the day. You can buy confidence tho in the form of flash new ultraview sight
Can you go over how these actually work using a slider in a hunting situation? Just want to know how much you are sliding your sight because your target went from 50-20 or 20-60 and you need to slide your floater pin etc. Seems like extra movement that isnt necessary so thats why I would prefer a 5 pin sight rather than a slider
I can explain how i use a Black Gold slider in hunting situations like you explained and maybe help out. I run a 4 pin setup with 30, 40, 50, 60 pins. 30 pin is only 3"-4" inchs high at 20 yds so no need for that extra pin. I run my 40 pin as my slider so if i spot and range a buck at over 60 yds, like 65yds i now how basically 56, 65, 74, 83 yds pins, so if an animal walks further i have pins ready to give me info or if he come closer as well, if he goes from 50 to 20 though id have to do some estimating or let down and adjust possibly. Hope this helps some.
Great video. I love my hha and I swap heads from 3 pin to single with a lens. UV can send me a sight without the Apple packaging crap and knock off $200.
Well done Dan!! I have watched a ton of videos, have been following you for years. This was my favorite video of all time. It was real, high energy, no BS. Thanks buddy. Good luck this season.
Great Review! Appreciate the in depth look into everything. What attracts me the most about the UV slider, is the simplicity of it all. The locking mechanism is nice. Adjusting the windage seems super easy. And, you can disconnect the housing. So for me, western hunting, i can keep the scope in my bag on the hike. Dont need to worry about getting dust or debris. Its just the dang price that makes me hesitate
I have several ultraview products and I think they are definitely solid, but there is zero support and for the prices, I think that’s kind of BS. You have to email them from the website and then wait a day before getting a text reply, but cannot ask technical questions because they will just refer you to this video… C’mon UV - you are going to have someone else’s review video as a reference for your tech support?? SMH.
What size peep do you run? I’ve been told need a smaller peep with HHA sight? Good info on the Spot Hogg barrel size, i have been considering it but going to check out the CBE. Like the UV, but that price 😬
If you need lessons to tighten your groups, I would love to help. I get tighter groups than that all the time. **coughing while saying at 10 yards** lol
@@jordancarrillo3938 I know what the sharpie is for he said he tightened it all down with an allen key so it sounds like he’s trying to lock it in place. Plus silicone is easy to scrape off with your finger nail if you need too
I have the 2 CBE treks, and replaced them with a spot Hogg. Why CBE feels the need to put a piece of plastic in the slider of that sight is beyond me. Especially considering they charge over 300 dollars for that sight.
Instructions yes. They are needed. Especially for people using a particular sight the first time. Packaging outside of that. I don't want to spend money on a packaging asthetic. Gimme some zip cords and cardboard.
What's the secret to having 100+ yard range without running your arrow into the sight? Super low profile vanes and light arrows? Extra low anchor point?
Have you had issues with the CBE V3 windage lock affecting up and down shots downrange when locking it down little too tight? Ive read multiple people say this and also pins out of the box slightly bent, or last pin not being able to get a good sight picture depending on arrow speed and it being too low. I want this site bad for the price especially, but those things ive read multiple people state are having me second guess a little now
Hell of a video Dan! I appreciate it! What I don’t appreciate however…….. is that the UV slider came out literally a week after I got a new Landslyde carbon pro 3 pin for hunting this year. Lol! I would have bought the UV. Though I do enjoy the heck out of my Landslyde. Especially after adding a Ruff Light from Bill Ruff. Thanks again Dan! Take care
Opinion. I am trying to decide between micro hades and qad exodus for whitetail. Both fly great and the exodus seem to be significantly quieter. Is it worth going the exodus just because it if noise?
"I'm your honest friend" - as he then proceeds to tell us that he is bought and paid for by Mathews. Dan I respect your reviews, but you are not always honest about some of the gear you use since you have sponsorships.
