I use 2 Buzzbe colony 15’s under the seat of my Revo. Although they are a little heavy, they’re perfect for keeping a little bit of everything for different situations inshore saltwater fishing. Thanks for the initial review that led to me giving them a try! Appreciate the in-depth presentation and paying attention to the little details.
Great video and I do need to organise my lures … living in the UK I probably won’t be able to get hold of some of these fantastic boxes… any ideas anyone would be much appreciated and also a bag to put em all in would be great…. Good I could spend my wages so easy and my other half would go mental 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve had a rough couple days, dealing with a family loss, stress from work and school... seeing the Burly Fishing notification just makes my day better!😃
Something about organizing tackle is therapeutic, always feel so much better after putting away new gear...great hearing Paul’s thoughts in these new videos!! 🍻🍺
I have ran through far to many boxes but now I am full on and only really carry the Plano Edge boxes. As a kayak angler being able to open them easy with one hand is just too good. Also I learned you can open the water wick cube and replace the silicone beads inside. I am super impressed with the fact that Plano did not seal the wick cube and use it as a secondary cash grab. I would like to try a BUZBE box and probably will at some point. I love using spinners and buzz baits and have yet to find a box that is easy to carry on a kayak that works well for them.
Tackle storage and organization is my Christmas gift theme. I have 4 Plano edge boxes of different sizes coming, going into new lews Mach backpack and also a new musky box. Literally all my Christmas gifts from my wife will be addressing tackle. Your vid’s have been very helpful
I returned my Plano Terminal box recently and switched to a Bass Mafia 3700 Coffin (not the "terminal coffin"). Works so much better for me with more storage than any other terminal box. Installed a rubber cupboard mat into the top of the lid and you can turn it any which way and shake and nothing leaves its spot. I also have Plano Edge 3700 for top water lures and will get another few for crankbaits. I have the Plan Edge Crankbaits box and just tonight had a Rattle Trap hooks become embedded into the yellow spike things and took forever to get it out. The Edge jig box is awesome.
I've got sports authority H20 version of the bass mafia terminal box. The latches seem to be better, the top opens all the way, and I haven't had any issue with hooks not staying in there place. Plus it only cost like $25. I have been very happy with it for a cheaper terminal box
I've been thinking of buying that bass Mafia terminal box. I'm so glad I held off on it I totally agree with and trust your opinions on these things cause you guys test them way more then I would ever do
Great video. Getting a canoe at some point but until then I’m still just a pond hopper. I like keeping my tackle organized in a nice tray but I still rock an old school 3-tier tackle box as well. I load that up with what I think I’m gonna need for that day’s pond and just fish out of it.
Phew, glad im not the only one still rockin a basic tackle box lol just got back into fishing after about 20 years of not fishing, but i do need a larger tackle box, those plastic bags the rubbers (worms, crayfish, lizards, shads etc) come in, take up a lot of space on the bottom of the box lol id like to keep it simple, one box so imma just go BIGGER lol
I started trying the 6th Sense Bait Chamber. These are designed for a boat due to the size of the Bait Chamber. These chambers hold your baits in foam individually. Waterproof I believe but floats I don’t know. These start at $29.99 but you do get a 10% discount using the code at checkout. There great for boats that have extra storage space.
This was actually super helpful, I’ve been rocking those bass mafia coffin boxes and I have yet to have a problem of them popping open. But yeah they will smash your fingers or fall over because of the heavy lid.
It's been 2 years. Time for another one!! It's like trying to keep up with a PC computer. As soon as you purchase it, it's already out of date. Uphill battle! Great video as always.
I add strip magnets to most of my compartments. Nothing comes our tangled from being tossed around and they don’t spill when tipped over. I use two strips or one strip for my lures. No tangles and no dividers needed.
I use the large lure lock thin boxes no dividers and I can get over 30 lipless crankbaits and can get almost 40 kvd 1.5s in each box. I have had them over a year now and they don't move, don't scratch and only cost me 12.99 a box
Jeff, as a fellow Michigander you heart my soul when you said “Meijer’s.” It’s Meijer! No “s”. Please publicly proclaim “ope, sorry” and go to your nearest Meijer and buy a Vernor’s. Otherwise awesome video, you have once again successfully shown me something else to spend money on.
I'm going to disagree. I know there is no S, but I also don't know anyone in Michigan that says "Meijer" over "Meijer's". Just like I don't know anyone that says "Kroger" over "Kroger's". Frederik Meijer created a store. It's his store, so it's possessive. That's my reasoning at least lol. Also growing up with it being said that way, I will never change the way I say it lol.
Love my Plano Edge Terminal Box, but I have the same problem with one side not latching all the way. The Edge jig box is my favorite though. Plano Elite make a flat spinnerbait box that works well for those and buzzbaits. The Plano Edge Thin boxes are really nice, I have 2 of those.
For those looking for cheaply priced boxes, Walmart has Ozark trail boxes in both yellowish-green/black and blue/white. 3600 runs $2.44 and the 3700 for $3.44. At least that’s what they are running at here in Ky. Decent for cheaply priced boxes. Dividers hold in very well and help provide a nice seal from hooks changing compartments.
I use cheap planos just to store. It sits in my office. I then just take the lures I know I am going to use and put it in a Flambeau day box. I have the Flambeau long box with the 6 small boxes that I use for terminal. I use hook covers and rubber bands to keep from tangling.
Great video topic and I like how you went through them in a rational order. I have been tempted to get some Lure Lock for my treble hook baits. I am also in a kayak so space and value are primary concerns. Great job!
One little tip about crankbait storage for you guys. Buy a bag of small rubber bands. Like the size of a ring on your finger. Then you can take your crank baits and rubber band the two or three treble hooks to each other. When you throw them all in the tackle tray of your choice they won’t get tangled! You can just pick the one out that you want and it come right out with ease. It can be tedious but you really only have to do it once. I use an empty tackle tray to throw my lures in when I switch out and then put them back in their place once I get back home. Best trick I’ve ever seen.
You can tell Paul is older cause he's come up with a way to cut the dividers apart efficiently instead of crying about it and ripping them apart any way they come apart
After using the Plano Edge Jig Box for over a year now. I’m not happy that the weed guards on my bigger jigs are all bent. I wish they made this box a little deeper.
if you take care of your stuff, you don’t need to buy expensive “more durable”. I buy even cheaper , used a combo kit from amazon that was like $25 for a bag, boxes, lures ,hooks and baits. Worked well for the cost.
The Plano Edge Crankbait box (I have 1) is nice. It is really great for jerkbaits and lipless cranks. If you use regular crank baits I think you would have to cu some of the silicone fingers out for it to fit. The only downside to me is the depth of the box, it's really deep, but I can deal with that.
Great video thanks to this video just learnt about the edge terminal tackle tray iI have a few others in Australia those cost 90 bucks for a tackle tray that's to expensive for my blood great video fellas
Bought my first Edge box yesterday. It was a 3600 standard box. Put my carry around terminal tackle in it. Very disappointed to see my hooks (small and large) moving between compartments. I did not have this problem with the cheap Plano 3620 box I had been using. I know they make an Edge box for terminal, but I didn't want to go that expensive.
Trick to take the tabs off of the dividers is after you separate them then use pliers and put them parallel to the tab and lift up or down and they come right off clean..
Great review, guys... I have the same complaint. The latch has bowed or warped, causing it to not latch properly. I hope Plano reformulates the latches to a more ridged plastic that retains its shape. Or maybe an aluminum bar that doesn't warp, but still a nice box. It would be nice to be able to retro fit your boxes if they improve the Edge Series. 🍺🎣
I had to go to the 3600 flex Plano for my terminal tackle. That was the smallest I could use and still fit 10 and 12 owner beast weighted swimbait hooks. Love the 3700 flex but they do take up good amount of space
I ran Bass mafia boxes and they worked well for me for about 2 years. 3rd year the latches are breaking and the boxes are falling apart. As a kayak angler I guess i am a little harder on my gear but did not expect them to hold up so poorly.
Cheap! I really have no brand preference. I even have kitchen Tupperware boxes that are similar to tackle boxes. Some mods that I use to help in keeping baits in place or to help seal the boxes. Is hot glue. Use it as a waterproof sealant in the lid. Also section it off in the lid to keep baits from moving around. I have used it to seal the bottom removable sections. Might work great on the box you mentioned with the orange inserts keep popping out. I have also used those kitchen lid grippers. You can buy a roll and cut to shape. Sections of poodle noodles work also for hook keepers and other stuff. I have also used things like camel snus tobacco tin cans. Or the round ones. Small zip lock baggies. And many other things I can't remember. I am a bank beater by heart. Kayak fisherman and big boat sailor (lmao). Over the years I have learned to down size to very minimal tackle carry. Kids book bag section works great. I have a tiny book bag. A even smaller hunting bag that fits in the palm of my hand and fits and amazing about of tackle. Eye glass cases etc... love your channel. Keep up the great content.
The Edge is my favorite, but if I want a kinda budget box the Stowaway is hard to beat, and it has the dividers on the lid if you use it for terminal. The Edge latch isn't a big deal to me, just take your time closing them. I was a Bass Mafia fan, but the Stowaway is a better box, not as tough, but I don't drive over my boxes.
H20 express terminal box is a good one too but it doesn't have the sliding covers and has the same latch issue but it does have the foam inserts. But it's only 15$ or so. So much cheaper and made from heavy plastic as well.
So wait.. do the pros not use regular tackle boxes (with the multi level trays) anymore? When you go fishing, isnt it easier to just bring one tackle box vs lots of different trays? Im just getting back into fishing after about 20 yrs of no fishing and im looking into a new, bigger tackle box which is why im looking at storage videos. My issue is storing all the bass plastics. Wish they made a box that could store them vs HAVING to keep them in the plastic packaging. Whats your opinion on keeping them in their bags? I saw some of your plastics in boxes, is that just because you used those and you keep the rest on their bags? So yeah...can you give some advice on storing senkos and the like? (Sorry for all the questions lol)
If fishing from the bank I use the zipper bags like Bass Mafia. If on a boat I use a storage container. We just made a new video on plastics storage on the channel here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KzTUvSXxPFI.html
Definitely want some of these boxes. That terminal customizable one looks amazing. 50 is a little steep but damn that thing is organized. How is the tip and flip? Do the hooks stay in place or do they slide into other bins?
I know this is an older video but I just came across it today. Great info! Had no idea there were so many tackle box brands out there. I am looking for something to keep my hooks and weights in (preferably 3600 size) that prevents the hooks from going all over the place when turned on it’s side or even upside down. Can you recommend some? The Plano terminal 3600 is what I’m leaning towards. By the way, I’m in Michigan as well-Livonia.
My Plano 3700's have a black band on them. I have 8 of them and they're all black. I get them from amazon for $10. I don't take much with me fishing so I use a KVD worm bag and Ziplocs to separate what I take. I know where I'm going and what baits work there. I got tired of buying box's so I got a bait wall. I have an extra room so now I have 2 4'x8' peg boards on the wall and I have promised myself to quit buying tackle because I'll never use what I have now. All I buy now is fishing line new bait casters, and rods. Now that I'm not a tackle junkie I can upgrade boats. I don't shop online bait stores anymore. I don't even look because I know I'll buy when I see a sale, even if I don't need it.
Dude I love your friend Paul , I noticed thru out your videos you seem a bit coincided, noticed how Paul really let people know that even the cheap box’s are good keep in mind some people can’t afford the expensive - you are even kinda like that with your 360 pro kyack on other videos Paul love you make your own videos I’m sure other agree p
@@aaanglers I saw your other videos I thought wrong your really cool guy Paul too happy thanks giving I will keep watching your videos can you show more if you fishing off shore with your Bew kyack take a trip with Paul go off shore thanks again ken ny
Appreciate your take and I have many of the same, however as a fellow Kayak angler I was curious if you have given much thought into the weight of these boxes? Do you typically take a lot of different options with you fishing for the day or do select 3-4 technics before you leave and gear up a few day boxes for those technics? Also, Kastking has some new boxes that look similar to the Plano edge but much cheaper. Have you checked them out yet?
How do you store the tiny tackle parts? Like: swivels, split rings, solid rings, lead, tungsten, small hooks etc.? Do you use these big tackle boxes too?
So I assume for saltwater terminal tackle the buzbe is probably the way to go because you can buy separate larger bins to accommodate the larger hooks, weights, etc?
If I'm spending $60-$150 on glidebaits, I'm gonna put em in a nicer case than a $7-$8 cheapo...but thats just me. I have boxes of I-slides that have $800 worth of baits, seems worth it to buy a quality box or bait roll.
I am looking into the plano 3700 flex series boxs for my fishing inflatable paddle board (star rival). I want to stack some boxs under the seat. I want to secure them with lanyards. Do you think its possible to glue on neodymium magnets to keep the boxs stacked on top of each other? I purchased a gamakatsu g box, to hold all my trout spinner lures. The foam slots work well. But the box doesn't float, and is not sealed by a gasket. The lanyard tie off point is super week. I am hoping the thin plano flex will replace my g box.
You guys said you fish in yaks; do you use those great big square spinner bait boxes? I find that would be a pain with all you’ve got is a yak back box…
I have a much bigger selection of plastics than terminal tackle, what is the best for organization of soft plastics? I've been using a plastic accordion folder, which works, but some use containers that don't fit well, like Keitech. Fishing in a kayak.
Check out wraptor tackle roll, I believe they have the best non-clamshell soft plastic bait storage out there. For clamshell plastics I just toss them in my fishing backpack or one of those drawstring bookbags.
To me these are not even considered tackle boxes. They are simply just in my opinion beefed up fancy 3600 or 3700 treys. Theirfore, looking at it in that standpoint I would think that a smart economical angler would buy a vintage old plano or flambue tackle box like a plano 747 or a old guide series plano tackle box with the 4 trays built into the box. My advice I wouldnt waste my money, id explore my options. All im saying is be careful if your trying to save money, and if your trying to save money if it were me id go with a vintage REAL tackle box. Note if you didnt know you can a good vintage real tackle box from ebay.
