Now the big question is… what to name her! Any ideas?

Hmm, do you see it as a gal? If that, then your name being Hannah, Japanese for flower…. Some kind of harmony on the name….

Maybe Chris has a nickname he calls you that would be an extension to you…. Just brain farting.

I'm no expert by any stretch, but I'd make sure the stock spring load on the Wrangler Sport can handle the added weight of the RTT + fridge + water and all the gear you want to carry. Even if you don't want to lift it, per se - the vehicle could benefit from a more aggressive spring load similarly if you were towing. Love the new ride! Good luck with all the upcoming adventures!

iirc, JKU sport stock cargo + passenger payload capacity is 880lbs (this is of course, different than towing capacity). this particular one has definitely received some immediately visible modifications, which she mentioned, so there may be more underneath which may effect that. I'm glad to see a Jeep though! I've had my TJ for 16 years now and I have an order direct from Jeep for a JL that I'll hopefully see sometime late fall. (I'm keeping the TJ, but I'll be lifting the body off for a deep check n' tune up since it's going on 24yrs old and me myself and I only have so much spare tool time lol.) wranglers are so fun and can take you to all sorts of adventures. and there's such a great community out there of people who give advice and ideas.

Congrats Hannah and can’t wait to see what’s next! How about naming her Journey for all the journeys you will take with her or alternatively, Addie (meaning adventure) if it’s a he. As a recommendation for someone who are new to car ownership or non-car person, the one thing you should not skimp / save on are tires, no matter how good they looked 2nd hand (ie: plenty of thread pattern left) it’s good practice to buy new because tires have a shelve life of only a few years regardless if they are used or not. Although you can technically checked the year of production, that requires some experience. Consider this, it’s the only tiny four patches that keeps your vehicle grounded that allows you to be in control. Secondly it would have been nice to keep the original tires around so you can get a set of winter tires fitted on them and just switch em out come winter. Hope it’s not too late to get it back. Also in Japan original condition fetch a higher price than modified should you decide to sell in future! On a happy note, enjoy your new wheels and drive safe!

Amazing purchase! Super excited for all the nature you will be able to show us. For me, one of the things I would love to see is round-trips with a car, but not necessarily in the car all the time, riding (30%) + walking cities or/and mountains (70%). Trips between 2-5 days. Also it would be nice that the startpoint/endpoint to be big cities, so we would be able to rent a car while still using the Shinkansen. Happy for you Hannah!🤗

Congrats Hannah, What cool car, seeing your excitement is just wonderful, looking forward to the content that you can create with this as a tool. Those tyres the BF Goodrich, a great all terrain tyre, and they last for AGES, got over 70,000 Km out of them when I had them, and they are pretty good off road too. Just make sure that you let them down when offroad, like 15PSI, much harder to get bogged then, and then get a small compressor to pump them back up when back on road again. Congrats again.

Now you have to rock it up. I’d just say getting the power system set up first. Having lots of power to charge up and power a 5G router, is amazing. Being able to shoot then dump your data onto a full system is so necessary. Second, getting plenty of water. We use a ton of water. For dogs, washing things and then beach. Have to wash everything. Getting water tanks and a shower system is so useful.

Congrats on the ride! As for the lift thing, a simple leveling kit would likely help offset the weight of the winch & level out the front rake that Jeeps have. I did that to mine & it looked really good without lifting it up much. One thing to look out for is the front radiator. They’re partially plastic & I cracked mine on day. It was the only thing to go wrong on my Jeep. Although I don’t have Rubi anymore, I LOVED that Jeep. Gas prices forced me trade her in. Have fun with your new ride, can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Great choice of rims and tyres. My advice would be to wait a bit before modifying it more, drive it for some trips and you will know what you´re missing if anything. Investing in the winch sounds like a good idea just in case. I would add some extra lights on the roof, and maybe on the back. Also gear like a shovel, first aid kit and good quality rope. Hope you have a lot of fun travelling Hannah.

The challenge with RTTs in Japan is that most garages in metropolitan cities in Japan max out at 2.0 or 2.1M in height. If you keep the RTT on all the time it limits where you can park, especially in Osaka for example. Congrats, will follow your build. If you do your own shakken, it can be very inexpensive too.

Wow! Congrats on the new drive!! FWIW, the shaken for a newly built car is good for 3 years, and then every two years after that. Because of this timing, I would sell my new car at the 3-year point to the dealer where I bought it and used that as my leverage for a higher resale price to buy a new car from the same dealer. In the long run, it was quite affordable to pay shaken only every three years compared to the cost of maintenance (tires, brakes, clutch, etc.) + 2-year shaken. This shaken timing encourages you to save money and just upgrade your car every 3 years. And as long as you stay with the same dealer, it’s so much easier to raise your resale value if your trading it in for a new car. Your right about the Jimny being so small. I want to trade in my Pajero Mini and get the Jimny although a Jeep or AMG G Wagon would be my first choice. The tax and toll fees for the Kei-class cars are so much cheaper for me that I can’t imagine going back to paying the higher taxes, shaken, and toll fees of a larger vehicle unless I had the extra budget. I can’t wait to see future videos on how you add lots of neat stuff to your Jeep! That is one car in particular that offers sooooo many after-market add-on kits to fit almost every imaginable need or desire! Thank you for sharing this journey with us!!

Hi Hannah, first of all congratulations on your new Jeep! I'm a big fan of offroad vehicles. Regarding the shaken, looks like you've paid much which you could simpley avoided by doing "User Shaken" (A process for the owners where you can do the shaken by yourself in a lot cheaper way and it's very easy as well) I did Shaken for my EVO this year and combining the Mandatory Insurance, Shaken, Weight Tax etc, it costs me 67K JPY only which is a one-day process.

Hello Hannah, I came back to see this video again after few months. Because I realized what you have been gone through, its very very true buying the car and driving in Japan is not easy :D. I decided in the summer that I will start roaming to the Japan from 2023 spring season. For that I started preparing to get driving license and then a used car. I never drove before and decided to take license in Japan that to without going school. :D Crazy experience, I have failed multiple times and finally got the license and now I am hunting for used car. A lot of informations are floating over the internet about used car and at some point i started realizing that believing on these a bit difficult. I found your video is very helpful and got many good informations. Thanks a lot to you. I have initiated my registration for car auction and wishing to buy a car by the end of this month or so. :D Thanks.. Gyan

Congratulations on your new and first car in Japan ! Enjoy and be safe. I'm also a crazy gajin laying on the floor, also at night, when taking pictures of my toys in random places (middle of the street, traintracks, parks...). People always stop by to make sure I'm okay. Twice they rang the police which came to check on me and my ID. I think I'm known in the neighborhood now. And as I talk about my life, we recently (three weeks ago) also got our first car here. I mean my Wife had a car before, but since we're together, that's our first. It is a tiny 20 years old car that belonged to my in-laws. They gave us for free and we just had to pay for the Shaken (¥100.000). We can go a little further than we used to with trains. But time and money still keep us pretty close to Osaka or the Kansai area. Can't wait for your next adventures !

Terrific news ! From your last vlog , it sounded like your future was uncertain. Having a winch is a great idea , but would also consider a pair of quality traction boards. John Laub of #OnlyInJapan vlogged his experience in getting a driver's license - a definite ordeal especially the driving portion. When time permits , practice changing a tire that includes accounting for the needed tools. Having a air compressor / battery jump might be a future consideration. Excited to see the many upcoming vlogs where your new wheels takes you !
